Hotel Review: Hotel Saint Vincent, New Orleans (Michelin One-Key Property)

Hotel Saint Vincent in New Orleans, a distinguished Michelin One-Key property, consistently garners high praise for its unique blend of historic charm and sophisticated, modern design. Housed in a beautifully restored 19th-century edifice that once served as an infant asylum, the hotel offers a luxurious and memorable experience in the vibrant Lower Garden District.

1. Overall Rating & Sentiment

The general consensus for Hotel Saint Vincent is overwhelmingly positive, with guests frequently describing it as a "wonderful," "chic, playful," and "refined, historical and unforgettable" destination. It is celebrated for offering a distinctive and elevated stay in New Orleans, providing a calm oasis away from the main city's hustle and bustle. The hotel is noted for its personality, design, and commitment to "5* service."

2. Key Highlights

Guests particularly love the hotel's captivating design, which seamlessly marries 19th-century detailing with mid-20th-century Italian design elements, creating an atmosphere of mystery, character, and charm. Its prime location in the desirable Lower Garden District is a major draw, placing guests within easy reach of Magazine Street's boutiques and cafes. Amenities such as the inviting outdoor pool, multiple on-site dining options, and unique bars like the guest-only Chapel Club are also frequently highlighted as beloved features.

3. Room Quality

Hotel Saint Vincent offers 75 unique guest rooms and suites, each thoughtfully designed with a "psychedelic pop of pink" and bold velvet hues. The accommodations feature a luxurious blend of retro accessories, floor-to-ceiling windows, and smooth wooden floors. Bathrooms are a standout, often featuring deep-pink tiles, uniquely patterned bathrobes, and brass taps on vintage-style sinks. Guests can expect comfortable memory foam beds with premium bedding and deep soaking bathtubs for relaxation. Complimentary wireless internet access and LED televisions are standard. The hotel also provides nine ADA-compliant room options with mobility and hearing accessibility features.

4. Dining Experience

The hotel boasts a diverse and highly-regarded culinary scene. San Lorenzo, the signature all-day restaurant, offers Italian cooking with regional New Orleans influences, featuring handmade pastas, Gulf seafood, and grilled steaks. For a different flavor, the Elizabeth Street Cafe provides a French-Vietnamese menu with all-day favorites, including pastries, coffee, and dishes like Bánh Mì and Pho, along with a popular happy hour. The Paradise Lounge serves as an airy, sun-drenched lobby bar for coffee, cocktails, and snacks. For a more exclusive experience, the Chapel Club is a dimly lit, guest-only bar offering pre-dinner cocktails or a complimentary morning coffee. Cooked-to-order breakfast is available daily for an additional fee.

5. Service & Staff

The service at Hotel Saint Vincent is consistently described as "5* service" by reviewers, with staff being noted as friendly and efficient. Guest feedback specifically rates "Staff & service" at an impressive 9.6 out of 10. Check-in is reported as effortless, and guests are greeted warmly upon arrival.

6. Location & Accessibility

Located in the picturesque Lower Garden District on Magazine Street, Hotel Saint Vincent offers a charming and historical neighborhood experience. The area is known for its eclectic mix of architectural styles, boutique stores, and a strong artsy vibe. While not in the French Quarter, it is considered ideally located for exploring the city, with an Uber ride taking just under ten minutes to reach the French Quarter. Public transportation, including the Magazine bus and St. Charles streetcar, are also easily accessible. The hotel provides free self-parking for guests.

7. Value & Pricing

Hotel Saint Vincent is positioned as a luxury property, with room prices typically around $398 per night, though deals can be found starting from approximately $224 per night. Guests should note a deposit of USD 150 per stay and a destination fee of USD 27.36 per accommodation, per night. While many guests find the experience worthwhile, some have expressed that the hotel can be "a little overpriced for what it was."

8. Common Complaints

While overwhelmingly positive, some minor criticisms have been noted by guests. One review mentioned that some of the staff "weren't exactly what I expected for the price." The pool, while beautiful, was described as small with limited sunbeds, and the pool bar was not consistently open daily. Additionally, noise from the Chapel Club was reported to be audible in some rooms at night. It is important to distinguish these recent comments from older Reddit threads (prior to the hotel's 2021 reimagining) which referred to the building's past as an apartment or guest house and mentioned issues with previous owners or neighborhood disturbances, which do not reflect the current luxury hotel operation.

We had a great time during our visit and the staff was super friendly and knowledgeable. We enjoyed the San Lorenzo restaurant and the cocktail lounge during our visit. The food and drinks were first class. The room was nice and we loved the architectural details throughout the property. This hotel has a great vibe and it made our 35 anniversary very special.

The second-floor suite has three rooms: a living area, a bathroom, and a master BR suite that includes two balconies, one private and one shared. The master suite vibe had warmth, coziness, and a comfortable king-sized bed. The entire suite has vintage antiques throughout the rooms and a luxury decor that is both elegant and timeless. The bathroom suite is large with a walk-in shower, over-sized ...

Since coming back from my honeymoon in NOLA in June, I literally dream about this hotel. It is stunningly gorgeous and so well styled. It even smells good. It's such a vibe I cannot even describe it. The location is excellent for a not-so-typical NOLA trip. It's about a mile or two from the French Quarter but we loved that. It's quiet, safe, and so easy to get anywhere in the city either walking o...

Beautiful location. We were not hotel guests but we especially enjoyed the chapel club and Bobby was an excellent host/bartender. He was super helpful with our questions about the location as a venue and the drinks were perfect. we will be back!

I just spoke with the front desk after my husband had already called. He surprised me with this trip, but he now has the flu with a 102° fever and we missed Thanksgiving with family because of it. I was hoping to talk to someone who could walk through options with me—whether that was a refund or even just rolling the reservation to another date. Before I could even explain the situation, I was to...
