Expert Review: The Cloudveil, Autograph Collection
The Cloudveil, Autograph Collection, in Jackson Hole, United States, consistently receives high praise for its blend of luxury, location, and thoughtful design, making it a standout "One Key" Michelin property.
1. Overall Rating & Sentiment
The general consensus for The Cloudveil is overwhelmingly positive, often described as "exceptional" and a "rare gem". Guests frequently laud it as the "best choice in Jackson Hole" and a "perfect" destination. Review scores on various platforms are consistently high, with averages around 4.5 to 4.9 out of 5 for cleanliness, location, and staff, and 9.4 out of 10 on Expedia. The hotel successfully combines Western ruggedness with an effortlessly casual and modern upscale ambiance.
2. Key Highlights
Guests consistently love several aspects of The Cloudveil:
- Location: Its prime spot directly on Jackson's Town Square is frequently cited as a major advantage, offering unparalleled walkability to local attractions, shops, and restaurants.
- Design & Vibe: The hotel boasts a modern Western design that feels high-end yet unpretentious. Details like hand-stitched leather, natural materials, and artwork inspired by the local environment create a unique and inviting atmosphere. The lobby, with its large fireplace, is a popular gathering spot.
- Amenities: Highlights include a heated outdoor pool and hot tub, often appreciated after a day of activities. A unique and much-loved feature is the 24-hour "comfort station" on each floor, offering complimentary snacks, trail mix, coffee, and tea, which is especially popular with families. Other amenities include free in-room WiFi, a 24-hour gym, and ski storage. The property is also dog-friendly.
- Service: The staff is often described as friendly, helpful, and exceptional, contributing significantly to a positive stay.
3. Room Quality
The rooms at The Cloudveil are noted for their comfort and thoughtful design, blending Western aesthetics without being overly themed or "cheesy". Guests appreciate the comfortable mattresses and fluffy bedding, often highlighted as a superior sleep experience. Many rooms feature gas fireplaces, adding to the cozy atmosphere. Bathrooms are generally spacious and well-appointed, with excellent water pressure in the showers. Standard rooms, typically around 450 square feet, are well-equipped with ample storage, hooks for gear, and a small sitting/eating area. Some suites offer significantly more space, with multiple bathrooms and balconies.
4. Dining Experience
The hotel's on-site restaurant, The Bistro, offers French cuisine and serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner. While many guests find the restaurant to be "delicious" and "excellent," some reviews indicate mixed experiences, particularly concerning dinner, with a few calling it "average at best" or experiencing "poor QC on the food". The breakfast/brunch menu is noted for its variety, catering to different preferences. The cocktails at The Bistro are frequently praised. The restaurant also features an open-air rooftop deck, which is a popular spot.
5. Service & Staff
The service at The Cloudveil is consistently rated as "exceptional" and a key factor in positive guest experiences. Staff members are described as friendly, accommodating, and attentive to detail. The valet service is particularly highlighted for its efficiency and thoughtfulness, even having cars warmed up for guests. Concierge-like "pathfinders" in the lobby are available to assist with planning activities. While generally excellent, some guests note that the service, while prompt and polite, might not reach the "above and beyond" level sometimes found at ultra-luxury brands like the Four Seasons or Aman.
6. Location & Accessibility
The Cloudveil's location is a significant draw, situated directly on Jackson's Town Square. This central position provides immediate access to a wide array of restaurants, shops, art galleries, and bars, including the famous Million Dollar Cowboy Bar. The hotel is approximately 10 minutes from Grand Teton National Park and around 60 miles from Yellowstone National Park's southern entrance, making it an ideal base for exploring the area's natural beauty. For winter sports enthusiasts, the hotel offers a free shuttle service to Teton Village for skiing, complete with ski valet services. The walkability of the town from the hotel is a major advantage, especially given potential parking challenges in Jackson.
7. Value & Pricing
The Cloudveil is considered a luxury property, and its pricing reflects that, with rack rates often exceeding $500 a night. However, many guests feel it is "worth the splurge" for the location, amenities, and overall experience. It is also highlighted as an excellent option for those with Marriott Bonvoy points, offering a good redemption value in a market with limited points properties and high cash rates. Discounts may be available, particularly during the off-season.
8. Common Complaints
While generally positive, some recurring criticisms include:
- Room Size: A few guests have noted that the standard rooms can feel somewhat small for the price point, especially compared to expectations for luxury hotels in other regions.
- Dining Consistency: As mentioned, the food quality at The Bistro, particularly for dinner, can be inconsistent, with some reviews suggesting it's merely "average" despite the pleasant ambiance.
- Mandatory Destination Fee: A mandatory destination fee is sometimes tacked onto the stay, which some guests dislike given the already high pricing.
- Minor Room Amenities: A minor complaint occasionally raised is the lack of sufficient coat racks in rooms, which can be inconvenient for guests with winter gear.
- Noise: One specific complaint mentioned a noisy experience in room 115 due to its proximity to public toilets.

I stayed here for 4 days in mid Jan and the hotel was wonderful. They accommodated us on a number of unexpected and unfortunate issues we had with travel plans, and service was constantly and consistently above and beyond what I expected. Amenities, including 24/7 snacks and seltzer water, really made the hotel feel cozy and like I was home. The town car / shuttle service was great, and valet was ...

We stayed at the Cloudveil for the first time on a recent trip to Jackson, and it was amazing. Given it is a little pricey, it makes up for it with its location, service, and design. Everything from the lobby, to the hallways and rooms, it was amazing. I also had a package being sent to the hotel that didn't arrive until after I checked out, and the front desk staff went ahead and shipped in 2nd d...

This is a great hotel. Very unique with some terrific amenities. Really impressed by the rooms. I was a bit under the weather and didn't get to check out much more, but I would definitely stay here again. You cannot pick a better location in Jackson.

From start to finish, our stay at The Cloudveil in Jackson Hole was absolutely incredible. The location is perfect — you can walk everywhere — and the bistro downstairs has great food, drinks, and such a fun vibe. The free hot cocoa was an added bonus and just one of the many thoughtful touches that made this stay feel special. Grey was especially helpful and accommodating, and even surprised my ...

Great location and rooms. Pretty horrendous service. Check in staff is rude, condescending, dismissive, and indifferent. No valet staff available upon arrival. When we mentioned this to the front desk staff, they shrugged and were generally indifferent/unwilling to help. My general assessment is that the staff prefers spending time playing on their phones behind the front desk to assisting their ...
