Expert Review: L'Hôtel Particulier Montmartre
L'Hôtel Particulier Montmartre, a Michelin Key Selected property, is consistently praised as a hidden gem offering a unique and luxurious Parisian experience. Tucked away in a private, gated lane, this boutique hotel provides a tranquil escape amidst the bustling Montmartre neighborhood.
1. Overall Rating & Sentiment
The general consensus for L'Hôtel Particulier Montmartre is overwhelmingly positive, with guests frequently describing it as "beautiful," "charming," "magnifique," and an "oasis." It garners excellent ratings for cleanliness, comfort, and staff performance. Guests appreciate its intimate atmosphere and often recommend it highly.
2. Key Highlights
Guests consistently adore the hotel's secluded setting and beautiful garden, complete with chickens and rabbits, which provides a sense of "countryside in Paris." The artistic and unique design of its individually themed suites is a significant draw, making each stay a visual surprise. The exceptional service and friendly, relaxed staff are also frequently highlighted as a major positive, with many guests stating the staff are "out of this world" and "outstanding." The on-site restaurant and bar are also considered key attractions.
3. Room Quality
The hotel features only five spacious, individually designed suites, each with a contemporary artistic flair. Rooms are described as comfortable, quiet, and equipped with high-end amenities such as flat-screen TVs and Hermès bath products. Themes can be wild and whimsical, with features like "Poem & Hats room," "Curtain of Hair," or "Tree with Ears." Some suites boast Japanese-silk-lined walls and baroque-style sinks. While generally praised, some reviews note that certain rooms can be dark.
4. Dining Experience
L'Hôtel Particulier Montmartre offers a notable dining experience at its restaurant, Le Grand Salon, which is open all day for breakfast, lunch, tea time, cocktails, and dinner. The cuisine is often described as seasonal French, with a chef who draws inspiration from Mediterranean and even Asian flavors, focusing on fresh, local, and high-quality ingredients. The restaurant holds "Maître Restaurateur" and "Restaurant of Quality" distinctions. Brunch is a popular weekend offering, featuring items like fluffy pancakes, avocado toast, and eggs Benedict. The late-night bar, Le Très Particulier, is a chic spot for drinks and is known for its sophisticated cocktails. Reviews for brunch have been mixed, but overall, the food is often described as "incredible" and "amazing."
5. Service & Staff
The service at L'Hôtel Particulier Montmartre receives consistently high praise. Guests frequently commend the staff for being "excellent," "outstanding," "super friendly," and "always in a good mood." The hospitality is often described as relaxed and attentive, contributing significantly to the overall positive guest experience.
6. Location & Accessibility
The hotel boasts a "fantastic location" in the Montmartre neighborhood. Situated down a private, cobblestone alleyway off Avenue Junot, it offers a peaceful and secluded setting away from the main tourist crowds, while still being within easy walking distance to popular attractions like the Sacré-Cœur, Musée de Montmartre, and Place du Tertre. Public transport, including the Place de Clichy and Guy Moquet Metro Stations, is also conveniently accessible, allowing guests to explore other parts of Paris.
7. Value & Pricing
L'Hôtel Particulier Montmartre is an upscale boutique hotel, and its pricing reflects its exclusivity and luxury offerings. Room rates can vary, with some indications of nightly rates around $977 - $1,160 for a superior or deluxe room. While it is considered a significant investment, many guests feel it is worth the cost for the unique experience, secluded ambiance, and high level of service. The cheapest deals might be found during the low season, such as December and August.
8. Common Complaints
While generally highly rated, a few recurring criticisms have been noted. Some guests have found certain rooms to be on the darker side. The late-night noise from the hotel's bar, Le Très Particulier, has also been mentioned as a potential issue for some, although it is also a highlight for others. Additionally, one review mentioned "overpriced for quality of service" in a rating, although this is contradicted by the majority of positive feedback on service. One user reported no internet, but this is an isolated complaint and contradicted by other sources stating free Wi-Fi is available throughout.

The hotel is undeniably beautiful, with a lovely restaurant and a great overall atmosphere, although we didn’t have the chance to try the restaurant during our stay. Unfortunately, we were a bit disappointed with the bedroom, which may have simply been a matter of bad luck with the room location. We were on the first level, and it was very loud in the evening — we could hear noise from the restau...

We visited Hotel Particulier to celebrate a friend's special birthday. The venue itself is very special, tucked away down a "secret" pathway. We were met by a gracious doorman and escorted into the building. The furnishings were opulent, the food and wine delicious. Antoine made us feel very welcome - a charming man with a great singing voice :-) Although the service was attentive, we felt very re...

This restaurant is a true gem! Perfectly located in Montmartre (tip: go through Avenue Junot rather than Rue Lepic), it’s one of the most romantic spots in Paris. If the weather is nice, definitely sit on the terrace, it’s magical. The menu is seasonal so you’re guaranteed fresh ingredients every time. If you see the “fines tranches de daurade”, don’t miss out!!! One the best starter I’ve ever had...

We had brunch on the terrace of Hôtel Particulier Montmartre, and it was simply fantastic — a hidden oasis in the heart of Paris. The garden setting feels magical, surrounded by greenery and quiet, far from the city’s rush. The food was delicious, beautifully presented, and perfectly matched to the relaxed, elegant atmosphere. But what truly made the experience exceptional was the service, especia...

Incredibly rude Manager ruined our birthday meal. We arrived for a booking at 22:00 and the restaurant manager looked puzzled as he walked around looking for a table of 5, which clearly wasn’t ready as the restaurant was full. He said the table would be 10-15 minutes and told us to go down to the bar, offering no apology. The table was ready 40 minutes later and we were then told we needed to ord...

Really lovely restaurant. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. The food was divine. I thought the background music was a little too loud and the dining room was extremely warm, but I don't feel the cold.
