ILY Hotels La Rosière: A Comprehensive Review of this Michelin Key Selected Property
ILY Hotels La Rosière, nestled in the heart of the French Alps, has garnered significant praise as a "Michelin Key Selected" property, known for harmoniously blending contemporary design with mountain chic. Guests consistently highlight its excellent location, superb facilities, and exceptionally friendly staff, making it a highly recommended choice for both winter ski holidays and summer retreats.
1. Overall Rating & Sentiment
The general consensus for ILY Hotels La Rosière is overwhelmingly positive, with many guests describing it as an "amazing hotel" and recommending it "100%." It consistently receives high ratings for its comfort, cleanliness, and the overall pleasantness of the stay. The hotel is often referred to as a "House of Happiness," providing a warm and ultra-luxurious alpine cocoon.
2. Key Highlights
Guests consistently love several aspects of ILY Hotels La Rosière:
- Service & Staff: The staff receives outstanding commendation for being "absolutely fantastic," "extremely friendly," "helpful," and "attentive." Their professionalism and willingness to assist, even in challenging situations (like a guest breaking a leg skiing), are frequently mentioned.
- Location: The hotel boasts an "unbeatable location," being very well-situated for the Eucherts chair lift, with almost 100% ski-in/ski-out access for many. It's also in the heart of the Les Eucherts area, offering easy access to shops, restaurants, and bars. Many rooms offer "breathtaking mountain views" of the Tarentaise valley.
- Amenities: The "fabulous" infrastructure includes a well-regarded 420-square-meter spa with an indoor pool, indoor and outdoor hot tubs, sauna, hammam, and a yoga and relaxation room. A gym, kids' playroom, and an in-house ski shop with equipment rental are also appreciated.
- Design & Ambiance: Described as a "brand new establishment," the hotel features a "modern hotel with nicely designed rooms" and a "contemporary and cozy style." The ambiance is considered appealing and "very stylish."
3. Room Quality
The rooms and suites are consistently described as "very comfortable," "very clean," "spacious," and "well-equipped." They offer a "contemporary and cozy style" with "exceptional light." Many rooms and most suites feature balconies with "stunning south-facing valley and mountain views," allowing guests to extend their mountain experience privately. Heated, carpeted rooms include a desk, and suites offer a seating area. Family suites are also available, designed to accommodate up to six people with two bedrooms and two bathrooms. Special mentions include the Prestige Suite, which features a relaxing jet bath on the terrace.
4. Dining Experience
The dining experience at ILY Hotels La Rosière generally receives positive feedback, particularly regarding quality and value. The hotel features a restaurant, Le Bonami, which offers a "mountain-style breakfast buffet" and French "brasserie" lunch and dinner, focusing on organic, local, and generous produce. There's also Le Mazot, a new restaurant specializing in Savoyard and mountain specialties like fondues and raclettes, open only in the evening. La Tavola is available for Italian specialties and special events.
- Breakfast: The breakfast buffet is often praised for being "well laid out with a full range to suit everyone," "hearty and varied," and of "exceptional quality" with "abundant options" and "delicious pastries." However, some guests noted a desire for more diversity, fresh vegetables, and fresh juice.
- Dinner: Food, particularly the half-board option, is often described as "exceptionally good value and quality," "out of this world," and "delicious." Dishes are generally "well presented." There are also vegan options available. However, some critiques mention the menu can be limited or repetitive, and some dishes were served cold. Restaurant prices are sometimes considered high compared to local competitors.
- Bars: The hotel has a top-floor bar offering views of the Tarentaise valley, a great spot for "apres ski 'happy hour' cocktails."
5. Service & Staff
The service and staff are a recurring highlight, consistently receiving "exceptional" reviews. Guests praise their "friendliness," "attentiveness," and willingness to go "above and beyond," such as accommodating late arrivals with dinner requests. The general manager and reception staff are specifically mentioned for being "fantastic" and "very nice and helpful." Spa staff, like Lili and Karine, are also noted for their professionalism. The concierge team is available seven days a week to assist with bookings for rooms and outdoor activities.
6. Location & Accessibility
ILY Hotels La Rosière is strategically located in the Les Eucherts area of the La Rosière ski resort, near the Italian border. It offers "easy access to the Espace San Bernardo ski area." The Eucherts Ski Elevator is just 100-200 meters away, with excellent ski-in/ski-out potential. The resort itself is known for its excellent snow record and dramatic landscapes. There's a bus stop opposite the hotel, and a free shuttle bus service runs every 15 minutes around La Rosière, with a mini-bus linking Les Eucherts to La Rosière Centre in the evenings. Bourg-Saint-Maurice is 12 miles away, accessible by plane, train, or road. The hotel is also designed with accessibility in mind, offering PMR rooms and parking spaces.
7. Value & Pricing
While specific pricing varies, many guests find the half-board option to offer "exceptionally good value and quality." The hotel's comprehensive amenities, high-quality finishes, and excellent service contribute to a strong perceived value for a Michelin Key Selected property. However, some guests noted that restaurant prices, particularly for dinner, could be on the higher side compared to other options in town, and charges for parking (if not used) or dog fees were occasionally criticized.
8. Common Complaints
While generally highly rated, a few recurring issues or criticisms have been noted:
- Spa Facilities: While the spa is broadly praised, some guests reported issues with the jacuzzis, with only one or a limited number working at times. One guest also found the swimming pool water could be warmer.
- Restaurant Pricing & Variety: Some guests found the à la carte restaurant prices to be exorbitant compared to local competitors, and wished for a more expanded or varied menu. Breakfast sometimes lacked fresh vegetables or sufficient diversity.
- Noise in Common Areas: The bar area near the fireplace could be noisy due to children playing, with staff not always intervening.
- Housekeeping & Maintenance: Isolated incidents of rooms not being cleaned, cobwebs on ceilings, or issues with hot water were reported.
- Minor Inconveniences: Lack of trolleys for luggage and the absence of charging stations for electric vehicles were minor points of feedback.
- Perceived "Tips" Charge: One guest mentioned seeing a bill for "staff tips" that they declined to pay, finding it unusual.
Overall, ILY Hotels La Rosière stands out as a luxurious and welcoming mountain retreat, celebrated for its attentive staff, prime location, and excellent spa facilities, making it a strong contender for a memorable stay in La Rosière.

Overall a good quality hotel. Staff were all friendly enough. Checkin was easy. We had a privilege suite with two beds. View from room was amazing. We found the room would benefit from more lighting and certainly more storage (some drawers or more shelves for skiers would be good). Shower was very good, but again little surface area in bathroom to put anything. It is above the main road up into La...

Ily La Rosière was a fantastic stay, but the real star here is the restaurant. The service was outstanding from start to finish, and the food was genuinely out of this world, easily one of the best dining experiences we’ve had. The hotel itself was great: comfortable, well run, and set in an incredible location. The views were absolutely to die for and added so much to the overall experience. A w...

Amazing hotel. The room was outstanding and a perfect location (100m from chair lift). Staff were super friendly. Would definitely recommend. Jessie in the ski shop was the best.

Nice comfy beds with views across the Alpine valleys and mountains. The pool gets a bit busy. What I really can't understand is the restaurant is so poor the food is awful or maybe the cook is I'll but, something is wrong!

A perfect hotel for a ski in ski out (well, almost) vacation at La Rosiere. Rooms are large and well equiped, breakfast is excellent, the ski shop run by the lovely Jesse is fantastic, and the spa is exactly what you need after a day on the slopes.

Comfortable and quite large rooms. But the service at the restaurant is just a disaster! They accept way too much people and are unable to follow and manage. Staff remains friendly but the women who seems responsible of the restaurant is really arrogant and unable to cope with the situation.
