Overall Rating & Sentiment

Key Highlights

Guests frequently commend the hotel's warm, inviting atmosphere and elegant design, which seamlessly blends the building's 1912 heritage with modern interiors. Key highlights include the incredibly friendly and helpful staff, its prime location for exploring Old Quebec, and comfortable public spaces, such as a cozy lobby lounge with a fireplace, perfect for relaxation. Complimentary high-speed Wi-Fi and 24/7 access to a fitness center are also appreciated amenities. The hotel is also pet-friendly, offering a dedicated dining corner and bed for an additional fee.

Room Quality

The rooms at Hôtel Le Germain Québec are described as spacious, quiet, and impeccably maintained. They are decorated in muted earth tones with a contemporary design and feature large, comfortable beds adorned with goose-down duvets, feather pillows, and soft Egyptian cotton and bamboo sheets, ensuring a restful sleep. In-room amenities typically include Nespresso coffeemakers, minibars, flat-screen TVs, and designer toiletries, often Molton Brown products. Many rooms offer vast bathtubs, while others feature showers, all complemented by plush cotton robes. Some top-floor rooms even boast views of the St. Lawrence River or Old Town.

Dining Experience

While Hôtel Le Germain Québec does not have a full-service restaurant on-site, it offers a continental breakfast buffet, which is frequently praised by guests as delicious and varied, often including a daily hot item like quiche or French toast. However, breakfast is typically available for a surcharge. For other meals, the hotel's concierges are highly regarded for their excellent restaurant recommendations in the surrounding neighborhood. Room service is also available during limited hours.

It offers easy walking access to numerous major attractions, including the Quebec Cruise Terminal, Quartier Petit Champlain, Place Royale, and Notre-Dame-des-Victoires, all within a 5-minute walk. Château Frontenac is also a leisurely stroll or funicular ride away. Quebec Palace Station is within a 10-minute walk. This central yet tucked-away position provides both convenience and a peaceful retreat from the bustling city.

Value & Pricing

Hôtel Le Germain Québec is considered a boutique luxury hotel. Prices for a 1-night stay for two adults can start from approximately CAD $168.47 to CAD $229.00, excluding taxes and fees, as of early 2026. While guests generally feel the experience is worth the cost, it's noted that breakfast is an additional charge. Self-parking and valet parking are also available for an additional fee of CAD 30 per night.

Common Complaints

Historically, some guests noted issues with rooms getting quite warm. More recently, a recurring criticism was related to temporary noise from city construction in the street and internal lobby renovations, which also impacted usual breakfast services. However, management has indicated that these construction works are now happily concluded. Another point of feedback is that while breakfast is delicious, it is not always included in the room rate, leading to some disappointment regarding the additional cost.

What a gem of a hotel! The staff were so friendly and accommodating. Walking distance to everything but in a quieter area so it feels more relaxed. We all loved the coffee machine in the lobby as well as the cozy fireplace. The only thing to note is there is very little storage drawers in the rooms. A dresser or nightside tables with drawers would have been appreciated. Thanks for the stay!! Would...

Loved our stay here. Quiet, comfortable rooms with bathrobes, complimentary coffee & tea. Housekeeping replenish fresh drinking water for the room each evening. Good buffet breakfast, which you can order to your room for the same price. No restaurant on site, but plenty of amazing restaurants close by. Quiet location just a short walk to the main streets. On site parking at rear of hotel. All...

Stayed here over the weekend of October 17-18, completely charming and a must stay in Quebec. Spacious, clean & well appointed room. The staff was incredibly helpful and kind, genuinely interested in your comfort and very quick delivery to the room if you need anything. Spring for the Harbor View, worth it! Lots of restaurants within walking distance. We stayed at Chateau Frontenac for 1 nigh...

If I could rate this hotel a 6, I would. When our trip was unexpectedly disrupted by a hospital stay, the front staff could not have been more thoughtful, empathetic and flexible. When we finally checked out, I had tears in my eyes because of their kindness. The rooms and the location are great but this personal service won them a loyal client for life.

I stayed three nights at Hotel Le Germain. The location was great. We enjoyed being in the lower town very close to the Musem of Civilization and within an easy walk of the older streets. It was easy enough to take the stairs or funicular to the upper town. There were several restaurants nearby. I didn't see any close grocery stores, but I didn't look very hard for any, either. For the hotel itse...

I booked two nights for my girlfriend’s birthday, it was as good as the others Le Germain hotels we’ve stayed at. The location is perfect, the parking is easy to access and the rooms were clean and spacious. Special shout out to the blond lady at the front desk, that accommodated my late check out because we had a long drive back; she was really sweet. There was also another brunette that was also...
