Maierl-Alm & Chalets, a Michelin Key Selected property nestled in the Kitzbühel Alps, offers guests a luxurious alpine escape with breathtaking panoramic views and direct access to the ski slopes. The establishment, a traditional guesthouse since 1932, combines rustic charm with modern comforts in its hotel rooms and exclusive chalets.

1. Overall Rating & Sentiment

2. Key Highlights

Guests consistently praise several aspects of Maierl-Alm & Chalets. Key highlights include the stunning panoramic views over Kirchberg to the Wilder Kaiser, the convenient ski-in/ski-out access directly onto the ski slope, the exceptionally friendly and welcoming staff, and the excellent food, especially the breakfast. The cozy spa area with an indoor pool, sauna, and steam bath is also a cherished amenity for relaxation after a day of activities.

3. Room Quality

The accommodations, including both hotel rooms and chalets, are described as clean, comfortable, spacious, and tastefully decorated. Rooms feature a traditional alpine style with modern comforts, some with stone fireplaces and writing tables. Chalets are particularly noted for their three levels, alpine yet modern flair with purist glass elements and Tyrolean old wood walls, offering four bedrooms each with en-suite bathrooms. Many rooms and chalets boast large balconies or rooftop terraces with magnificent mountain views, providing a private outdoor space for guests.

4. Dining Experience

The dining experience at Maierl-Alm is generally highly regarded. Breakfast is frequently described as "amazing" and "delicious," featuring a rich buffet with a wide selection of high-quality products, including freshly baked breads and croissants. The hotel's à la carte restaurant offers both traditional Tyrolean cuisine and creative haute cuisine, with guests often praising the tasty and fresh dishes. While many find the restaurant truly excellent with super service and delicious food, some recent reviews indicate that dinner can be high-priced for what is sometimes perceived as average quality.

  • Access Road: The drive up to the Alm, described as a "sketchy" one-way road, especially in summer, has been a downside for some guests.

  • Wi-Fi Infrastructure: A few reviews indicate that the Wi-Fi infrastructure could use an update.
  • Lost Key Policy: One guest reported a difficult night after losing their key and being unable to contact anyone, suggesting a need for an emergency number.
  • Dinner Quality/Price: While generally praised, some guests found the à la carte dinner to be overpriced for average quality.
  • Privacy in Chalets: A minor suggestion was made for individual fencing or visual barriers between chalet terraces for more privacy, especially for guests with dogs.

We’ve just had a fantastic stay at the Maierl Alm Hotel and honestly couldn’t fault it. From the moment we arrived, the service was warm, attentive and genuinely welcoming — exactly what you want after a day travelling (or skiing!). We stayed in one of the chalets and it really made the trip special. It was beautifully designed and extremely well equipped, with our own private sauna, cinema room ...

Maierl Alm is a great spot with really good food and a fun music vibe. A bit on the pricey side, but the atmosphere totally makes up for it. Cozy inside, awesome outdoor seating, and super easy to reach both by car and directly on skis. Perfect place to chill, eat well, and enjoy the mountain vibes.

Attended a wedding here. The view is stunning, the atmosphere is quiet special. (The drive up can be sketchy if you happen to do it in rainy weather, which one should avoid. Also, parking up there can be problematic.) Most of the (mainly English speaking) staff are very polite and friendly. The food was delicious. Good wine selection.
