Gourmethotel Yscla: A Culinary Gem with Alpine Charm in Ischgl

Gourmethotel Yscla in Ischgl, Austria, a Michelin Key Selected property, stands out as a highly acclaimed 4-star superior boutique hotel, particularly celebrated for its exceptional culinary offerings and prime location. Guests consistently praise the hotel for its blend of luxurious comfort, outstanding service, and world-class dining, making it a top choice for discerning travelers.

1. Overall Rating & Sentiment

The general consensus for Gourmethotel Yscla is overwhelmingly positive, with an impressive overall rating of 9.2 on Agoda and 9.1 on Booking.com. Guests frequently describe their stays as luxurious, comfortable, and memorable, with strong recommendations to return.

2. Key Highlights

Guests consistently highlight the extraordinary gourmet cuisine, the incredibly friendly and attentive staff, and the hotel's unbeatable central location as its strongest assets. The meticulously clean rooms and a well-maintained, albeit small, wellness area also contribute to the positive experience. The hotel's design, which thoughtfully combines earthy Alpine character with elegant modernity and contemporary street art, also receives appreciation.

3. Room Quality

The 32 individually designed rooms and suites at Gourmethotel Yscla are generally described as clean, comfortable, and luxuriously appointed, blending traditional alpine charm with modern style. Amenities typically include a flat-screen TV, telephone, and a bathroom with a toilet. Many rooms offer additional features such as balconies, seating areas, separate bedrooms and living rooms, and even fireplaces, providing a cozy and expansive feel. Some larger accommodations, like the YSCLA Suite (45 m²), feature separate sleeping and living areas and soundproof windows. However, some guests have noted a lack of coffee/tea stations in certain rooms and, occasionally, a separate toilet without a sink in some bathrooms, which can be inconvenient. Feedback on bed comfort is mixed, with some finding them very comfortable while others found them too soft.

4. Dining Experience

The dining experience at Gourmethotel Yscla is a major highlight and a primary reason for its Michelin Key selection. The on-site "Stüva" gourmet restaurant, led by celebrated Chef Benjamin Parth, holds two Michelin stars and an exceptional 5 Gault Millau toques with 19 points, recognized as one of the world's top gourmet destinations and a member of "Les Grandes Tables du Monde." The restaurant serves French-inspired culinary masterpieces, described as puristic, refined, and cosmopolitan, often presented as exquisite multi-course menus.

For guests on a half-board basis, the experience includes an ample breakfast buffet, an afternoon snack, and a gourmet dinner. While breakfast is generally considered good with fresh egg dishes, some guests desired a wider variety, particularly regarding salad and cheese selections, compared to other hotels of similar standing. The hotel also boasts an impressive wine cellar with over 400 Austrian and international wines, including a selection of champagne, with a sommelier available for recommendations.

5. Service & Staff

The staff and service at Gourmethotel Yscla consistently receive overwhelming praise. Guests frequently commend the team for their friendly, professional, attentive, and genuinely helpful demeanor, often noting that staff members go above and beyond to ensure a comfortable and enjoyable stay. The family-run nature of the hotel is often cited as a key factor in creating a personalized and warm atmosphere, with the owners being present and approachable. Services like quick check-in, efficient baggage handling, and convenient valet service are frequently highlighted.

6. Location & Accessibility

The hotel boasts an excellent, exceptionally central location in the heart of Ischgl. It is situated directly next to the Silvretta Cable Car, offering direct access to the Ischgl-Samnaun Ski Area, with the ski run ending right at the hotel. This prime position also means guests are within easy walking distance of major lifts, gondolas, apres-ski venues, shops, and restaurants, immersing them in the vibrant village atmosphere. The Silvretta Center, with its indoor and outdoor pools, is just a 3-minute walk away. While the central location is highly advantageous, some guests have noted that rooms facing the main street can experience considerable noise from the lively nightlife, especially late at night and early in the morning due to snow clearing machines. Parking is available via a valet service, though guests frequently mention that the costs can be quite high and not always clearly communicated upfront.

7. Value & Pricing

Gourmethotel Yscla is a luxury property, and its pricing reflects its superior offerings and Michelin Key status. Rates can start from approximately €409 or $481. The hotel generally receives a good value for money rating of 8.6, indicating that guests largely feel the experience justifies the cost. However, guests should be aware that additional costs for services such as parking and late check-out may be higher than expected and not always transparently disclosed during booking.

8. Common Complaints

While overwhelmingly positive, some recurring issues have been mentioned by guests:

  • Noise Levels: Rooms facing the main street can be affected by late-night party noise and early morning vehicle/snow clearing machine sounds.
  • Room Amenities: A few guests reported the absence of a coffee/tea station in their rooms, and some bathrooms feature a separate toilet without a sink, which guests found inconvenient.
  • Bed Comfort: There is mixed feedback on bed firmness, with some finding them too soft.
  • Additional Costs: High and sometimes unclear costs for valet parking and late check-out have been noted.
  • Breakfast Variety: While good, some guests felt the breakfast selection could offer more variety in terms of salads and cheeses.

We stayed at Yscla Hotel and had a very disappointing experience regarding a restaurant reservation at STÜVA which is located in the hotel. We reserved a table for three people and cancelled the reservation by phone on the same day, informing the hotel that we would not be able to attend. In all everything was provided as one should except at this price; nice beds, good cleaning, small but nice bar etc. The dinner was preset as an seven course gourmet menu including a nice salad and cheese buffet, so in practice five courses....

The management put profits above people at every opportunity at this hotel. What a dreadful place. I don’t know where to begin with the large number of grievances I have with this hotel. So i’ll focus on two areas. 1) I was ripped off. I booked a single room and due to Omicron and travel restrictions had to reschedule the dates of my trip. The hotel repackaged our booking as three double rooms a...

We booked to stay at the hotel for Christmas 2021 but due to covid asked to reschedule. The hotel seemed to be very understanding of this. However, upon arrival seemed to have forgotten our request for a quiet room (my boyfriend suffers from insomnia) and put us on the street! It’s was noisy, incredibly hot and we didn’t sleep at all. The hotel didn’t seem to help and offered some disappointing so...
