Il Boscareto Resort: A Michelin Key Selected Gem in the Heart of Langhe
Il Boscareto Resort, nestled amidst the picturesque vineyards of Serralunga d'Alba, Italy, stands out as a luxurious and highly-acclaimed retreat. As a Michelin Key Selected property, it consistently receives rave reviews for its stunning location, impeccable service, sophisticated design, and exceptional culinary offerings.
1. Overall Rating & Sentiment
The general consensus for Il Boscareto Resort is overwhelmingly positive, with guests frequently describing it as "exceptional," "stunning," and a "gem." It boasts impressive aggregated ratings, including "Wonderful" with a score of 9.1 out of 10 based on 268 reviews on Booking.com, and 4.9/5 from 705 reviews on Small Luxury Hotels. The resort is celebrated as a luxurious sanctuary perfect for relaxation and rejuvenation.
2. Key Highlights
Guests consistently praise several standout features of Il Boscareto. The breathtaking views of the surrounding Langhe vineyards and picturesque landscapes receive a perfect 10.0 rating for location. The state-of-the-art La Sovrana Spa, with its heated indoor pool, hot tub, saunas, and diverse treatments, is a significant draw. The hotel's contemporary design that harmonizes with the natural environment, featuring modern floor-to-ceiling windows, is also highly appreciated. Lastly, the exceptional and personalized service from the dedicated staff is a recurring theme in positive feedback.
3. Room Quality
The 49 rooms and suites at Il Boscareto Resort are consistently described as luxurious, modern, comfortable, and spacious. Their design features clean lines and contemporary furnishings, softened by classic colors and antique-style textiles. All accommodations offer captivating views, with some suites boasting private terraces overlooking the vineyards or the nearby village. Room amenities include premium bedding, pillow menus, air conditioning, flat-screen TVs, minibars, espresso makers, and attached bathrooms with designer toiletries, bathrobes, and slippers.
4. Dining Experience
The resort offers an exquisite dining experience, highlighted by La Rei Natura, its flagship restaurant. It is recognized as a two or three-Michelin-starred establishment (sources vary on the exact number of stars, with some noting three in November 2025). Led by Chef Michelangelo Mammoliti, La Rei Natura presents natural, instinctive cuisine that deeply celebrates local Langhe products while incorporating international influences. The dining experience is often structured in "three acts," including a welcome tasting and a sweet finale in a dedicated pastry space.
For a more casual ambiance, guests can enjoy Il Sunsì Bistrot, led by Chef Alessandro Capalbo, which offers regional recipes with a touch of Sicilian influence, available from breakfast through dinner and aperitifs. Breakfast is consistently lauded as "fantastic" by guests. The resort also offers exclusive private dining and "La Dolce Vita Picnic" experiences amidst the vineyards.
5. Service & Staff
The service and staff at Il Boscareto Resort receive overwhelmingly positive feedback, with a high rating of 9.0 for staff performance. Guests frequently highlight the team's warmth, welcoming nature, attentiveness, and professionalism. Many reviews mention staff going "above and beyond" to ensure a memorable stay, including thoughtful gestures such as providing a teddy bear, slippers, and candies for children. Front desk staff, in particular, has been praised as outstanding.
6. Location & Accessibility
Il Boscareto Resort boasts an "unbeatable" location amidst the rolling hills of the Langhe region, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This setting provides breathtaking panoramic views of vineyards and landscapes. It serves as an ideal base for exploring boutique wineries and visiting nearby towns like Alba, famous for its Roman history and white truffles. However, a car is considered essential for accessibility, as the town of Serralunga d'Alba is approximately 3 km away.
7. Value & Pricing
As a luxury 5-star property, Il Boscareto Resort's pricing reflects its high-end offerings and exceptional experiences. While specific rates vary, Kayak shows rates starting from $333, with average weeknight prices around $598 and weekend nights at $607. While most guests consider the experience to be well worth the cost, one recurring minor complaint noted a €10 charge for an omelet at breakfast, which some felt was excessive given the overall nightly rate.
8. Common Complaints
Recurring complaints are minimal for Il Boscareto Resort. The most notable criticisms include one guest's suggestion that the spa area "can be improved" and the aforementioned observation about the additional cost for an omelet at breakfast. Overall, guests tend to have very few negative points to raise about their stays.

One of the most amazing places I've ever stayed at in my life! Breathtaking views, super friendly and helpful staff, room was beautiful, bed was super comfy, breakfast was really really good and so was their Bistro as well. Basically you can't ask for more, it's just perfect! Oh and the spat, wow!! Super beautiful, like everything else here.. Highly recommend staying here.

Excellent service and breathtaking views!!! The spa is fabulous with indoor pool, wet and dry sauna and different showers. The rooms are big but lack character. They're a bit 'cold'. We took a wonderful hike around the property vineyards. So beautiful surroundings.

Our stay here was like a dreamlike autumn getaway. It was a truly beautiful and happy experience for our whole family. Every facility and the surrounding scenery of the hotel were breathtakingly beautiful and simply perfect. Moreover, every member of the hotel staff was kind, attentive, and exceptionally well-trained

We had a fantastic stay at Il Boscareto. The rooms were clean, nice and had comfortable beds. The wait staff was incredible and the check in process was amazing. Checkout was a bit frustrating, likely due to a language barrier. I assumed the card on file from check-in would be used, and the agent initially confirmed. But as we were leaving, he chased us down to ask for payment. We had to go back ...

A nearly perfect stay all around. Our (upgraded) rooms were beautiful; food at the bistro (breakfast, linch and dinner) was excellent (the two-Michelin starred La Rei Natura disappointed - but that's in a separate review); and the staff went out of their way to accommodate our needs (especially Sarah at the front desk).
