Expert Review: Zoëtry Casa del Mar
Zoëtry Casa del Mar, a Michelin Key Selected property in Los Cabos, Mexico, offers an intimate and luxurious all-inclusive experience often praised for its serene atmosphere and exceptional service. This boutique resort, paying homage to Spanish-colonial hacienda architecture, provides a tranquil escape distinct from larger, more bustling resorts in the area.
1. Overall Rating & Sentiment
The general sentiment for Zoëtry Casa del Mar is largely positive, with many guests describing their stays as "wonderful," "exceptional," and "rejuvenating." Review scores on platforms like Booking.com show a range, including numerous "Exceptional" 10/10 ratings, alongside some "Poor" or "Fair" scores, indicating a somewhat mixed but generally favorable consensus. The MICHELIN Guide itself gives a guest score of 17.8 out of 20, reflecting a high level of satisfaction. Many guests appreciate the low-key, quiet, and romantic vibe, making it ideal for those seeking relaxation.
2. Key Highlights
Guests consistently laud several aspects of Zoëtry Casa del Mar:
- Service: The personalized and high-touch service is a recurring highlight, with many staff members going above and beyond to make guests feel welcomed and important.
- Design & Ambiance: The resort's Spanish-colonial hacienda architecture, with its warm stone walls, curved archways, red tile roofs, lush gardens, and mesmerizing fountains, creates a charming and inviting atmosphere. It feels intimate and boutique, unlike larger all-inclusive properties.
- Location & Views: The oceanfront location along the Sea of Cortez provides stunning views, often described as breathtaking.
- Tranquility: The resort's quiet and peaceful environment is a major draw for those looking to unwind and escape.
- Amenities: The "Endless Privileges" all-inclusive model offers a range of elevated amenities, including no set check-in or check-out times, 24-hour concierge, maid service three times daily, refreshed mini-bars, complimentary laundry service, and a welcome bottle of tequila. The multiple pools, including one with a swim-up bar, are also appreciated.
3. Room Quality
The rooms and suites at Zoëtry Casa del Mar are described as spacious, pristine, and luxuriously appointed. They feature modern décor with Mexican artisan handicrafts and offer expansive views of the Sea of Cortez from private furnished balconies or terraces. Specific room features mentioned include large bathrooms with double vanities, spacious walk-in showers, and sometimes a separate toilet room. Some deluxe ocean-view rooms boast hot tubs on the terrace, and certain suites even include infinity plunge pools. Guests appreciate amenities like complimentary Wi-Fi, 42-inch flatscreens, climate control, and luxurious Le Labo toiletries.
4. Dining Experience
The dining experience at Zoëtry Casa del Mar receives mixed, but often positive, feedback. The resort features two gourmet à la carte restaurants, El Arroyo (Mexican cuisine) and Saltwater (beachfront), along with two bars. Food and house drinks are included, with premium options available for an extra cost. Many guests praise the food as "almost universally good" and some even call it "some of the best food I've had at a resort." Highlights include freshly prepared ceviche, fish and shrimp tacos, grilled catch of the day, red chilaquiles, and a moist chocolate cake. There's no buffet option for breakfast, with à la carte menus featuring a variety of egg dishes. Organic produce is emphasized, with some dishes showcasing ingredients from an on-site organic garden. However, some guests have expressed disappointment with the food variety and quality, with a few mentioning bland vegetables or subpar meals at certain restaurants.
5. Service & Staff
The service and staff at Zoëtry Casa del Mar are consistently highlighted as exceptional. Guests frequently commend the friendliness, helpfulness, and attentiveness of the employees, who often acknowledge guests by name and anticipate their needs. Specific mentions include excellent reception staff, bartenders, and housekeeping. Many reviews emphasize the personalized touches and the feeling of being treated like family. The "Endless Privileges" concept further enhances the service, offering amenities like 24-hour concierge, 24-hour private in-suite dining, and complimentary laundry service. However, one guest did report a negative experience with a breakfast waiter, highlighting how a single staff member can impact the overall impression.
6. Location & Accessibility
Zoëtry Casa del Mar is situated in the Tourist Corridor, at km 19.5 of Carretera Transpeninsular, between Cabo San Lucas and San José del Cabo. This location provides a balance, borrowing glamour from Cabo San Lucas and colonial charm from San José del Cabo. It is approximately 30km (18.5 miles) from Los Cabos International Airport (SJD), a drive of about 25 minutes. While Uber is not allowed for airport pick-ups, private SUV transfers and shared shuttles are available. The resort is conveniently located near eight championship golf courses. A significant point to note is that the beach directly in front of the resort is generally not swimmable due to strong currents. Guests interested in swimming in the ocean may need to walk to other areas. The resort itself has a small footprint and is easily walkable, though some buildings may require a bit of a walk, and not all have elevators.
7. Value & Pricing
Zoëtry Casa del Mar operates on an all-inclusive model. While some guests found it to be an excellent value, particularly during specific travel dates, others felt it was expensive and questioned the value, especially regarding "non-house" wines or "special" dinners that incurred extra costs despite the all-inclusive branding. Cash prices for rooms with amenities like hot tubs were sometimes considered a better value than using loyalty points. The average price per room is around $722, which is higher than the average hotel room in San Jose del Cabo ($527), but guests often feel it provides an elevated experience for the cost.
8. Common Complaints
While largely positive, some recurring criticisms and issues have been noted by guests:
- Unswimmable Beach: A frequent complaint is that the beach directly in front of the resort is not suitable for swimming due to dangerous currents.
- Food Inconsistency/Variety: Although many praise the food, some guests have found the variety to be limited or the quality inconsistent, with specific mentions of bland vegetables or subpar meals at times.
- Timeshare/Vacation Club Pressure: A significant complaint involves guests being subjected to high-pressure sales attempts for the Unlimited Vacation Club.
- Spa Pricing: While the spa facilities are generally well-regarded, the services are often described as very expensive. Some guests also reported spa facilities not being in full working order.
- Quiet Atmosphere (for some): While a highlight for many, those seeking vibrant nightlife or a lively atmosphere might find the resort too quiet.
- Lack of Cold Water: One review mentioned that the hotel only has warm and hot water, not cold, which might be a common issue in the area but was noted as a drawback by some expecting luxury amenities.
- Check-in/Room Allocation Issues: A few guests reported issues with check-in, including being placed in rooms far from family or without requested features like elevators, despite booking months in advance.

Zoëtry Los Cabos is undeniably gorgeous, with stunning ocean views and beautifully landscaped grounds. The property itself feels serene and visually impressive at first glance. Unfortunately, the rooms were underwhelming. They were not dirty, but they were noticeably dated and poorly maintained. We stayed in the Honeymoon Suite, which was spacious but bland, lacking warmth, luxury, or thoughtful ...

We had an incredibly relaxing time at this resort! This was our first time doing all-inclusive and we enjoyed the top service received throughout the entire weekend. We also got lucky enough to see whales from the beach and even see one breach; I would make an effort to come in January/February as this is prime whale season. Fernando and Jesus were very helpful in getting us around the premises an...

Zoëtry Casa del Mar Los Cabos (Jan 12–19, 2026) Beautiful boutique resort with outstanding food and service. The menu is diverse and high-end, and the staff are consistently warm, attentive, and professional. With only about 60 rooms, the resort feels quiet, relaxed, and never crowded — a big plus for us. The location is between Cabo San Lucas and San José del Cabo, so there isn’t much within wa...

Zoëtry has many qualities that suggest a five-star experience, but in practice, it falls short of that designation. What we liked: The grounds are genuinely beautiful—lush, well-designed, and peaceful. Housekeeping was a standout: rooms were consistently clean, well maintained, and serviced in a timely manner. Several staff members also deserve specific recognition for going out of their way to h...

I've been to 6 other all-inclusives, either in Cancun or Riviera Maya area, but this was my first time in Cabo. Here are my pros and cons for this particular resort: Pros: 1. The ocean view King room was lovely. Incredible view, one of the most comfortable beds and pillows I've ever slept on, air conditioning working perfectly, and wonderful water pressure in the shower. 2. Seeing the whales migr...

I love everything about this resort! Best beach view for whales, mobula Rays, sunrise and sunsets. Salt Water restaurant has amazing food with excellent service. And you are right by the beach. The main entrance to the resort is breathtaking. Amstar is in the lobby and books great excursions and safe transportation. New coffee shop with pasties was a great add this year. We’ll be back!
