Many reviewers express a strong desire to return, highlighting it as a truly unique and memorable experience.

2. Key Highlights

Guests consistently adore the villa's unique blend of historic elegance and modern luxury. The property's "museum-quality art and antiques" and gorgeous common rooms, including a refined wood-panelled library recognized by the Ministry of National Heritage and Culture, are frequently praised. The recently renovated rooftop garden, complete with shaded sofas, loungers, Jacuzzis, and a bar offering magnificent sunset views, is a particular favorite for relaxation. The private garden offers a serene oasis away from city noise. Exceptional service, a complimentary minibar, and afternoon cocktail service or "honesty bar" are also highly valued amenities that contribute to the feeling of being an honored guest in a private home. The wellness center, featuring a spa, gym, bio sauna, and Turkish bath, provides a perfect escape.

3. Room Quality

The hotel offers 14 capacious and elegant rooms and suites, blending antique furnishings with up-to-date amenities. Guests frequently describe rooms as large, quiet, and exceptionally comfortable, with some offering high ceilings. Luxurious marble bathrooms with soft bathrobes, slippers, and often separate baths, are a highlight. Rooms are well-appointed with satellite LCD TVs and air conditioning that is noted to be excellent, even during heatwaves. Bed linens are often noted as genuine linen. A complimentary, well-stocked minibar is a much-appreciated touch. Accommodations vary in size from Romantic Rooms at approximately 25 sqm to Garden Suites at 90 sqm and even apartments with full kitchens. Views often overlook the palace's gardens, the Spalletti Trivelli gardens, or the public Quirinale Gardens.

4. Dining Experience

The dining experience at Villa Spalletti Trivelli is consistently described as excellent, particularly the breakfast. Guests enjoy a "fabulous banquet-style breakfast" with a wide selection, including baked goods, eggs, sausages, cured meats, cheeses, fruits, and cereals. Organic buffalo mozzarella and housemade pastries are specific items mentioned as highlights. Breakfast can be enjoyed in the elegant dining room or on the shaded garden terrace in fine weather. The complimentary afternoon tea and the "honesty bar" in the drawing room, stocked with fine rum, scotch, and whiskey, further enhance the culinary offerings, making guests feel at home. The property also features a restaurant and coffee shop.

The hotel is also conveniently located near public transport, with Barberini Fontana di Trevi Metro Station and Cavour Metro Station a short walk away. For guests driving, it's important to note that the hotel is in a limited traffic zone (ZTL), and non-residents require a special permit to avoid fines when entering the historic center.

7. Value & Pricing

As a luxury property, Villa Spalletti Trivelli operates at a premium price point, with average room rates around $863, and nightly rates observed from approximately $424 upwards, depending on the room type and season. Many consider it a worthwhile splurge for an unforgettable Roman stay.

8. Common Complaints

While overwhelmingly positive, a few minor criticisms have been occasionally noted by guests. Some found the beds to be "extremely hard," though a topper was provided upon request in one instance. A few reviews mentioned issues with noise, either from outside due to windows not being soundproofed, or from footsteps and talking from rooms above. One guest felt the dining room was "a little tired" and that the service and food quality in the main restaurant (beyond breakfast) might not fully reach a 5-star level. Another wished for in-room hot drink facilities. Additionally, a unique comment described reception rooms as sometimes smelling "fusty like an unused stately home."

Stayed in a Garden Suite for 4 nights and had a fantastic time. The hotel has very successfully captured the charm of an old structure while updating amenities for modern times. Our suite was very comfortable. Staff were uniformly friendly and service was on point. They also have a great spa (especially for a boutique hotel) with sauna, steam room, Turkish bath, hammam, etc. Daily buffet breakfast...

Chose the Villa Spalleti Trivelli based on a few online photos and their central location. So pleased we did! As so many other reviews have noted, this is the place to stay. In short, we enjoyed an impeccable room within this beautiful old structure. The staff were wonderful in their service. Have enjoyed other lovely hotels in Rome yet we will certainly return here on our next visit.

The ultimate in luxury! This villa is a real villa and makes you feel like you've stepped into a bygone era with the splendour still on display in the library and common areas. We stayed in the adjacent apartment that was tastefully modernised with all mod ons and luxury beds/ toiletries hmshiwers. But we enjoyed the evening receptions most in the library with the tapestries and fireplace. THE ap...

Best hotel I've ever stayed at. Worth every euro. Everything about this hotel is class. Our apartment was exquisite - 19th century style but fully equipped with modern luxury. The service is attentive and subtle. Located in the old city within walking distance of all the sites.

Response from the owner

Thank you for the kind words and lovely review Steve. Hope to welcome you back soon at your roman home.

Amazing! Absolutely beyond expectations and a real life example of the adage saying that you get what you paid for. The food, the staff, the decor, the location and complimentary cocktail bar. Everything was top tier and even my son was very impressed and calls Villa Spalletti “ his favorite Roman place” 😁 We will definitely come back next year.

Villa Spalletti is a beautiful hotel with elegant vintage décor and furniture. It’s located in a calm and peaceful neighborhood, perfect for a relaxing stay. The only downside was the breakfast, which was quite disappointing compared to the rest of the experience.
