2. Key Highlights

Guests consistently rave about several aspects of Villa Royale:

  • Design & Ambiance: The hotel's "eclectic mix of eras and styles" with mid-century modern inspiration, Spanish-style architecture, street art-inspired murals, and colorful graphic tiles from Portugal, Spain, and and Mexico creates a "coolest vibe" and "beautifully decorated" spaces. The lush gardens, multiple courtyards, and three glistening pools contribute to a "tranquil oasis."
  • Amenities: Three outdoor pools, often described as "lovely" and with "different vibes," are a major draw. Complimentary amenities like Electra bikes for exploring Palm Springs, free Wi-Fi, and free onsite parking are highly appreciated. A spa and wellness center offering massages is also available for guests.

3. Room Quality

Villa Royale offers 38 uniquely designed rooms and villas, each aiming for a "luxurious and sophisticated" feel. Guests can expect "elegant furnishings, plush bedding, and modern amenities." Comforts include in-room dry bars with liquor, mixers, and cocktail books, Simmons Black Label pillow-top mattresses, and Marshall Bluetooth speakers. Room sizes vary, from the 24-square-meter Premier Room to the sprawling 294-square-meter ADA DeVille one-bedroom villa. Some rooms boast peaked ceilings, and many include air conditioning, private bathrooms, bathrobes, flat-screen TVs, coffee/tea makers, and safes. Some suites, like the Continental Suite, even come with a fireplace and a private yard with a hot tub.

4. Dining Experience

The hotel's restaurant, Del Rey, is an "intimate Spanish- and Mediterranean-inspired bar and eatery" that is considered a "new classic in Palm Springs." The restaurant serves lunch, dinner, and has vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options.

A complimentary continental breakfast is served daily from 8:00 AM to 10:00 AM, featuring pastries, fruits, cereals, and beverages. While generally described as "simple but good quality" and "excellent," some guests have wished for more variety in the breakfast items, noting it's a cold spread that remains the same daily.

8. Common Complaints

While largely positive, a few recurring criticisms have been noted by guests:

  • Breakfast Variety: Some guests desired more diversification in the complimentary continental breakfast, as it tends to be a cold spread that is the same every day.
  • Room Location/Noise: A few guests reported issues with noise, particularly from staff preparing for the day or from rooms located directly across from the restaurant or main pool area. One reviewer mentioned a room that was "uncomfortably dark and small."
  • Bathroom Ventilation: A specific complaint cited a lack of fan or ventilation in a bathroom located next to the head of the bed, leading to discomfort.
  • Towel Rationing: One review mentioned that towels were "tightly rationed — one per person per day," which seemed unusual for a premier suite.

This hotel blew my expectations out of the water! I first went here for my bachelorette party and was treated like royalty. Then I came back with my now husband for a mini honeymoon and had an even better time. The rooms have a great atmosphere and feel right out of a magazine. There’s 3 different pools, aka plenty of space for guests to lounge around. I LOVE that it’s a true child-free zone. The ...

Would def stay again! Best place we stayed at in PS. We couldn’t decide between here and Colony Palms so we did both. Next time we will just stay at the Villa Royale. Place has such good vibes. We stayed in the back left corner of the property and there was a friendly cat that hangs around. Complimentary breakfast was solid. The TV in the room had all the streaming options that made it so easy to ...

This was one of the best hotels we’ve stayed at for a while. We loved the room it had a fire place and separate living room. It had old architecture and vintage furnishings. It’s a small place and 21yrs and older which is great for couples or adults traveling without children. The only con we found was a mosquito issue in the room. We saw several while there.

Only if I would have known this would be the last trip I would take with my mom I definitely would have made a BIG FUSS. It's unfortunate because going on this trip is what got her out of the hospital. Something to look forward too. We got zero p...

Hopefully Phillip is reading this review with a smile on his face! Came here for a whimsical last minute anniversary get away over labor day weekend. Saw this old property was redone by the Sparrow people. Used to come here back in the day to the old Villa Royale restaurant which was cooky but never considered staying here. The whole space was very lovingly redone and modernized without losing...

A perfectly reasonable holiday was interrupted by racial profiling. Our stay at Villa Royale was marred, but not ruined, by the front desk assuming the three Black and Brown women returning to the hotel were not guests there, rushing out of the lobby, confronting us at the pool in the center of a busy courtyard, and asking if they could "assist us". We were, of course, the only Black and Brown p...
