Expert Review: The Westin Denver International Airport

The Westin Denver International Airport: A Comprehensive Review of a Michelin Key Selected Property

The Westin Denver International Airport stands out as a premier airport hotel, highly regarded by travelers for its exceptional convenience, modern design, and attentive service. As a Michelin Key Selected property, it offers a level of comfort and sophistication that often exceeds expectations for an airport-adjacent hotel.

1. Overall Rating & Sentiment

The general consensus for The Westin Denver International Airport is overwhelmingly positive, with an overall rating frequently averaging around 9.1 out of 10 from various guest reviews. Guests consistently use terms like "exceptional," "outstanding," and "fantastic" to describe their stays. Its Michelin Key selection further underscores its high quality, boasting a guest feedback score of 19.1 out of 20 based on verified stays.

2. Key Highlights

Guests consistently praise several aspects of The Westin Denver International Airport:

 • Location: Its direct connection to the Denver International Airport (DIA) terminal is its most celebrated feature, allowing guests to walk from their room to check-in in minutes. This convenience is particularly valued by those with early flights or late arrivals.
 • Service: The staff performance is highly commended, with a rating of 9.1, and often described as "friendly," "accommodating," and "attentive." Valet staff, in particular, receive positive mentions for their helpfulness.
 • Design: The hotel's contemporary style, with a broad cantilevered form mirroring the airport terminal's distinctive silhouette, is appreciated. The interiors are often described as clean, bright, and minimalist.
 • Amenities: Popular amenities include an indoor pool, a hot tub, a fitness studio, and pet-friendly accommodations. The presence of a coffee shop and room service also adds to guest convenience.

3. Room Quality

Rooms at The Westin Denver International Airport are consistently described as comfortable, clean, and spacious. They feature a contemporary design with a "space-age aesthetic." Westin's signature "Heavenly Beds" and plush bedding are frequently highlighted for providing an excellent night's sleep. Guests appreciate the full-width, triple-glazed windows that effectively block out airplane noise while allowing natural light and offering views of the tarmac or mountains. Many rooms include complimentary water and modern conveniences like a fridge and safe.

4. Dining Experience

The hotel offers several dining options, including the Grill & Vine restaurant, a café, and the Sky Lounge bar. Grill & Vine is noted for its "farm-to-table cuisine showcasing Denver's natural bounty" and is a popular spot for pre-trip meals. Breakfast, which can be cooked-to-order, vegetarian, or vegan, is available for a surcharge. While some guests praise the delicious food and great service, particularly at Tivoli (another restaurant mentioned in one review), others have found the food options limited and pricey, especially for simple breakfast items at the coffee shop or from room service. Room service is available, though some guests have found the quality inconsistent, such as tough chicken.

5. Service & Staff

The service and staff at The Westin Denver International Airport are consistently rated highly, with scores around 9.2 out of 10. Guests frequently report "friendly," "attentive," and "professional" interactions from check-in to check-out. Valet staff are particularly noted for their helpfulness with luggage and car returns. Many guests emphasize feeling "welcomed and valued" during their stay.

6. Location & Accessibility

The hotel's location is arguably its strongest asset. It is directly connected to the south end of Denver International Airport's Jeppesen Terminal, accessible via a short, 25-yard walk without the need for shuttles. This unparalleled convenience makes it an ideal choice for travelers with early departures or layovers. Furthermore, the airport rail station is located directly downstairs from the hotel, providing easy access to downtown Denver's 16th Street Mall in approximately half an hour. While the airport location means it's about 30 miles from the city center, the direct rail link mitigates this distance for those wishing to explore Denver.

7. Value & Pricing

The value for money at The Westin Denver International Airport receives mixed, though generally good, feedback, with ratings typically around 8.1 out of 10. While many guests appreciate the high-quality experience for the price, some find the nightly rates, which can range from approximately $339 to over $700 depending on the date and room type, to be on the higher side. Some reviews indicate that the price is "not worth it" unless the convenience of the location for an early flight or overnight connection is paramount. Additional costs for valet parking (around $39-$54 per day) and sometimes for internet access can also factor into the perceived value.

8. Common Complaints

While overwhelmingly positive, some recurring criticisms include:

 • Pricing: The high cost of rooms, food, and additional services like Wi-Fi (for some guests) is a common point of contention.
 • Navigation: A few guests have found the hotel's layout a bit confusing and felt that more signage between the airport and the hotel would be beneficial, especially when managing luggage.
 • Minor Maintenance Issues: Isolated reports mention issues like a difficult-to-operate shower diverter.
 • Noise: Despite triple-glazed windows, some guests have mentioned doors slamming loudly.
 • Service Speed: One guest noted a very long wait to receive bags from the bellhop during a busy travel time.

It’s a four star hotel with 1 star service. Skylar lounge is advertised as open til midnight, it apparently closes whenever the bartender feels like it. Sucks to find that out when you just spent 7 hours on airplanes and want to kick back. Front desk is chronically understaffed. The only thing four star about this hotel is the price. I will concede that the location is great, could explain why I ...

Ok…I’m being a bit unfair. The only thing you’re paying for is convenience. If this hotel is worth it for that alone….then go for it. But basically every aspect is daylight robbery. Basic burger and fries, $26 plus automatic $7 tip, plus $5 food fee! Bar stopped serving food earlier than advertised, they missed putting pillow cases on our pillows. But….quick for our 6am departure.

Response from the owner

Dear Havidz,

We are genuinely disappointed that your stay did not meet expectations and regret the concerns you had about our restaurant pricing and bar operational hours. We continuously revie...

My recent experience at the Westin Denver International Airport was deeply disappointing and far below the standard I expect from a hotel of this reputation and price point. After the airport experienced a power outage and our flights were disrupted, we decided to stay overnight and catch a flight the following morning. Upon arrival at the Westin, we were surprised by an extremely steep “walk-in ...

Love it when I can stay here. A little pricy but the ease for next day travel is unbeatable. Rooms clean and super crazy quiet. Service great but they tend to not have enough folks at the front desk and you can wait a bit. If you can score this place for under $300 totally worth it.

On January 8th I had a reservation at the Westin Denver International Airport. Unfortunately on January 6th I had to cancel the reservation due to a conflict. I was sent a confirmation of my cancellation within minutes of the cancellation with a confirmation number. Several days later I noticed a full charge for the Westin on my charge account. I then called the Westin Airport to resolve the iss...

Easy to walk to from the airport. Great walking space around the outside of the hotel for exercise. Lovely, clean pool and spacious hot tub! Our group of 300 homeschool moms stayed for a week amd were fed plentiful, fresh food. So tasty!!! Beds were soft and plenty of pillows, soft towels, and space to hang up clothes. No freezer compartment in the mini fridge. Complimentary coffee amd hot tea in ...
