The Hoxton, Williamsburg: A Vibrant Hub in Brooklyn's Coolest Neighborhood

The Hoxton, Williamsburg, a Michelin Key Selected property, consistently receives high praise as a stylish and energetic boutique hotel, embodying the vibrant spirit of its Brooklyn neighborhood. It's often celebrated as a community hub, offering a unique blend of comfort, design, and exceptional dining experiences.

1. Overall Rating & Sentiment

The Hoxton, Williamsburg generally garners a very positive sentiment from guests, frequently described as a "cool hotspot" and a "community hub" with a "hip" and "lively" vibe. Review platforms reflect this positive consensus, with an 8.3 "Very Good" rating on Booking.com and a 4.4/5 on Tripadvisor. Many guests emphasize that it's more than just a place to stay; it's an experience.

2. Key Highlights

Guests consistently rave about several standout features. The design is a major draw, blending residential vintage aesthetics with soft pastels, and paying tribute to Williamsburg's industrial heritage. The hotel's vibrant social spaces, particularly the bustling lobby and the rooftop bar, are highly popular. Exceptional food and beverage offerings receive frequent accolades, as does the friendly and attentive staff. Many rooms boast epic views of the Manhattan skyline, adding a touch of luxury to the stay. The hotel is also pet-friendly, welcoming dogs.

3. Room Quality

The rooms at The Hoxton, Williamsburg are frequently described as "cozy," "well decorated," "clean," and "comfortable". While some guests find them to be on the smaller side, they are thoughtfully designed for functionality and style. Each of the 175 rooms features modern bathrooms with brass details, plush velvets, and linens, along with amenities such as flat-screen TVs, work desks, refrigerators, electric kettles, and complimentary toiletries. Floor-to-ceiling windows are a highlight, offering extensive views of North Brooklyn and the Manhattan skyline. Adding a personal touch, each room includes a selection of books curated by a different local artist or creative.

4. Dining Experience

The Hoxton, Williamsburg is a culinary destination in its own right, boasting multiple acclaimed on-site dining options that attract both guests and locals. K'Far, an all-day Israeli restaurant, bar, and café located in the lobby, is inspired by Chef Michael Solomonov's hometown and offers pastries, lunch, cocktails, and dinner. Laser Wolf, the rooftop restaurant, is another highlight, serving Israeli-inspired charcoal-grilled meats and vegetables against the stunning backdrop of the Manhattan skyline. Guests can enjoy cooked-to-order breakfast for a fee, or opt for a convenient $5 to-go breakfast bag delivered to their room, which includes oatmeal, fresh orange juice, and seasonal fruit. The quality of the food and cocktails is consistently praised.

5. Service & Staff

The hotel's service and staff receive overwhelmingly positive feedback, frequently being described as "friendly," "helpful," "attentive," and "amazing". Guests highlight the efficiency and welcoming nature of the front desk team, who are often commended for providing excellent local recommendations. The staff's dedication contributes significantly to the overall wonderful guest experience.

6. Location & Accessibility

The Hoxton, Williamsburg boasts an "excellent" and "prime" location in the heart of Williamsburg, Brooklyn. The neighborhood is known for its vibrant culture, eclectic dining scene, local shops, and creative community. The hotel is a short 6-minute walk from the Bedford Avenue subway station (L train), providing easy access to Manhattan. Numerous restaurants and shopping opportunities are within easy walking distance. LaGuardia Airport is approximately 20-45 minutes away by taxi, depending on traffic. For local exploration, the hotel also offers complimentary bikes.

7. Value & Pricing

While some guests have noted a recent price increase positioning it more towards luxury offerings, many still find The Hoxton, Williamsburg to offer good value for its location and amenities. Room prices on KAYAK can start from $115, with an average room price around $451, which Agoda describes as "unbeatable value" given its prime location. Booking.com rates the hotel's value for money at 7.5.

8. Common Complaints

The most common criticism among guests relates to the size of the rooms, which are frequently described as "small" or "cozy". While the design is efficient, travelers accustomed to more spacious accommodations may find them compact. Additionally, one guest reported a noisy makeshift individual AC unit in their room, impacting their sleep. While there was a highly negative, unverified Reddit post alleging expired food and staff misconduct, this appears to be an outlier and not reflective of the vast majority of guest experiences.

I recently had the pleasure of staying at The Hoxton Williamsburg, and my experience was nothing short of fantastic. From the moment I arrived, I was greeted with warm and friendly service that immediately made me feel welcome. The check-in process was smooth and efficient, and the staff went out of their way to ensure every detail of my stay was perfect. The hotel itself is beautifully designed,...

First - the food is AMAZING!!! As for the rest of the hotel - mediocre for the $. The rooms are insanely small, even by Brooklyn standards. The bathrooms need a major makeover. Shower floor tiles are coming up and the bathroom floods terribly when you shower. Housekeeping did not show up until close to 630 PM as my wife and I were trying to get ready to go out - so we had to refuse a full room c...

The vibes and location are great, but there were a couple of creature comforts that were lacking that were frustrating. One being that you can’t stream or cast on the TV. It’s basic cable only, and the TV guide on the TV only has channel names, not what’s actually airing. The other thing was that the shower stall In the bathroom leaked all over the floor. I reported after the first night that the ...

I would highly recommend the Hoxton in Williamsburg. I stayed there for 4 nights and would stay there again. Every night was quiet. My bed was plush and amazingly comfortable. Room service was prompt and friendly. The front desk staff were efficient and courteous. I requested a taxi from the front desk when I couldn't access cell service, and a car arrived within 5 minutes as they promised. I was...

I stayed at the Hoxton this past week for a family wedding, with my three year old. I wouldn’t stay there again. Pros: -gorgeous decor - very comfortable pillows and linens -delicious food -steamer in the room -great view Cons: -rooms are TINY. No closet, just a stand with hangers. -staff were extremely rude and surly- except for one African American receptionist with pink hair, who was very kin...

We had a wonderful time staying at the Hoxton in November. Lily was a great help in choosing out our room and providing us with recommendations around the surrounding area! The location is ideal for people looking for the quintessential Brooklyn experience! Also the bar in the lobby has a nice bar with great bartenders (shoutout to Joe), they make a fabulous gin martini!
