Expert Review: Marrable's Hotel
Marrable's Hotel, a Michelin Key Selected property in London's fashionable Clerkenwell, generally receives very positive feedback, lauded for its boutique charm, excellent service, and prime location.
1. Overall Rating & Sentiment
Marrable's Hotel is consistently rated as "very good" with an average score of 8.3 out of 10 based on numerous reviews. Guests frequently express high satisfaction, with many describing their stay as "excellent" and some even calling it their "new favourite hotel in London" with intentions to return. The overall sentiment highlights a pleasant and comfortable experience, with particular appreciation for the staff and location.
2. Key Highlights
Guests particularly love Marrable's for its exceptional service, central yet serene location, and distinctive design. The staff often receives praise for being "absolutely amazing," "extremely friendly and helpful," and "super friendly and eager to assist." The hotel's location in Clerkenwell is a major draw, offering quick access to central London while being just outside the immediate hustle and bustle. The design is frequently described as "quirky," "funky," and "uniquely-styled," housed within a converted 19th-century warehouse. A notable amenity is the complimentary coffee, tea, and water stations available on every floor, featuring water drawn from the hotel's own borehole. Marrable's Hotel is also recognized for its eco-conscious approach, utilizing the London Aquifer for its air-conditioning and water systems.
3. Room Quality
The hotel offers 59 uniquely styled, air-conditioned rooms, including seven rooftop studios with private patios. Room descriptions vary, with some guests enjoying "beautiful spacious room[s] with an amazing view" and others noting rooms as "small but comfy." Reviewers consistently highlight the comfort of the beds, often featuring "hypo-allergenic, premium beds with Egyptian cotton sheets" and "duck-down pillows and duvets." Rooms are kept "very clean and well kept," including the bathrooms, which are often described as "beautiful" and "modern." The interior design features a distinct boutique style with "hot pink or lime detail against white linens and white walls," complemented by quirky artwork. Some larger rooms offer more natural light and space, including a desk and armchairs.
4. Dining Experience
Marrable's Hotel features Gazette, a French brasserie on the ground floor, offering an authentic French dining experience with classic dishes such as chateaubriand and beef tartare. The central Atrium serves as a bright and inviting space for breakfast and an all-day menu. Breakfast, described as "delicious" and "worth the added price," is a French-inspired continental menu with freshly baked pastries, sourdough baguette, smoothies, juice, and coffee. While breakfast is an additional charge, guests find it to be "substantial" and "reasonably priced for London." Room service is also available during specific hours.
5. Service & Staff
The service at Marrable's Hotel is a standout feature, with staff repeatedly praised for their "amazing," "friendly," and "accommodating" nature. Guests report a welcoming atmosphere from check-in, with staff going above and beyond, such as allowing free early check-in and late check-out (subject to availability) and storing luggage without charge for breaks in stays. The hotel boasts multi-lingual staff and a 24-hour reception, ensuring assistance is always available.
6. Location & Accessibility
Located in Clerkenwell, a vibrant neighborhood known for its creative spirit, gastronomy, and independent shops, Marrable's Hotel offers a "great location." It is conveniently situated a 5-minute walk from Farringdon Station, providing excellent connectivity via the Tube (Circle, Hammersmith & City, Elizabeth lines) and National Rail to various parts of London, including Oxford Street and Regent Street within 15 minutes. A bus stop is also located directly outside the hotel. The area is rich with attractions like St. John's Gate, Exmouth Market, Smithfield Market, and Sadler's Wells Theatre, all within walking distance. Its proximity to Shoreditch also appeals to guests seeking to avoid tourist hotspots.
7. Value & Pricing
Marrable's Hotel is generally considered to offer "very good" value for money, scoring 8.0 in this category. While breakfast comes at an extra cost (approximately GBP 23), guests often feel it is "worth the added price." Room rates vary, with standard rooms ranging from approximately $263-$443 USD and suites from $375-$415 USD. Deals have been reported from as low as $140/night, with an average price around $261/night, and current prices around £153. The hotel is considered to charge a "very reasonable rate."
8. Common Complaints
While largely positive, some guests have noted a few recurring issues. Certain "cheaper rooms are small and a bit dark," which might not be ideal for those looking to relax for extended periods. The bathrooms can also be "bijou" or small. Some feedback mentions that the interior design, despite being quirky, can sometimes feel "a little confused" or lack a clear, cohesive style. Parking is not available on-site, which is a common challenge in central London, though pay and display options are available nearby, and public transport is highly recommended. Minor issues reported include a slow or occasionally broken lift, and some instances of door slamming in the mornings.

The hotel surpassed our expectations. Location is brilliant with close access to the tube, including Elizabeth line (LHR), buses and walking distance to St Paul’s, Tate Modern and Exmouth Market. The room was clean & modern with a comfortable bed. We took advantage of the coffee machine on each floor, which made a better cup of coffee, compared to the small machines other hotels put inside rooms.

This hotel is in an excellent position to enjoy the highlights of the Clerkenwell district of London. The rooms are bijou but have everything you require from a hotel room. I didn't use the restaurant so I can not comment on the food or service on offer. We had an issue with the water supply within the hotel but it was resolved and the management made the right decision in refunding the cost of ou...

I've stayed at this hotel several times on work trips. It's my favourite London hotel. The rooms are a decent size and have a proper desk to work on. Spotlessly clean. Comfortable beds. As much decent coffee as you want from a machine on each floor and a wonderful breakfast. I've also had a really good meal from room service.

Perfect location to walk to the main attractions, place is clean, in a nice area. You will find good restaurants near, some may need reservations, even on a Monday like St John. They had a hot beverage machine and ice maker in our floor, maybe on each floor. The breakfast was not included in our fare, but you can find cheaper choices around than the 28 Pounds per person they wanted to charged. Ove...

Nice enough for a work trip. The rooms are a little bit small but perfectly functional. Good service and a nice location in Farringdon.
