Expert Review: Le Méridien Dallas, The Stoneleigh

Le Méridien Dallas, The Stoneleigh, a Michelin Key Selected property, offers a blend of historic Art Deco charm and modern luxury in the vibrant Uptown neighborhood of Dallas. While guests often praise its stunning design and prime location, the hotel's experience can be impacted by ongoing renovations and inconsistent service.

1. Overall Rating & Sentiment

The overall sentiment for Le Méridien Dallas, The Stoneleigh is generally positive, with an average rating of 8.5 on some platforms. Guests frequently appreciate the hotel's beautiful property and delicious breakfast. However, a significant number of reviews highlight dissatisfaction with service and cleanliness, with issues such as understaffing, unclean rooms, and a lack of communication from staff. The hotel is currently undergoing renovations, which has been a recurring concern for guests due to associated noise and limited facilities.

2. Key Highlights

  • Design & Ambiance: Originally built in 1923, the hotel boasts a legendary Art Deco design that has been thoroughly renovated to blend classic style with modern elegance. The interiors feature high ceilings, comfortable earth tones, custom mahogany, and marble-topped furniture, creating a chic and sophisticated atmosphere.
  • Location: Situated in the heart of the bustling Uptown district, the hotel offers a convenient base with easy access to a wide array of dining, shopping, and entertainment options.
  • Amenities: The property includes an outdoor pool, a 24-hour fitness center, a full-service health spa with sauna services, and 7,000 square feet of event space. Complimentary high-speed wireless internet access is also available.

3. Room Quality

The rooms and suites are generally described as elegant and stylish, providing a comfortable and relaxing atmosphere for a peaceful night's sleep. They feature warm cinnabar-and-charcoal color palettes, modern amenities, and custom mahogany and marble-topped furniture. Bathrooms are refined, featuring sleek black-and-white Calcutta marble flooring, chrome fixtures, and designer toiletries. Guests can expect premium bedding, hypoallergenic options, oversized windows, and flat-screen HDTVs. Some unique offerings include nine "Tribute Suites" celebrating various icons. However, some recent guest feedback mentions small, dated rooms with furniture issues, lack of in-room coffee machines, visible dust on walls, and unsealed doors contributing to hallway noise.

4. Dining Experience

Le Méridien Dallas, The Stoneleigh offers on-site dining options. Perle on Maple Restaurant is noted for its innovative dishes showcasing locally sourced ingredients with a distinctive Texas twist. The Stoneleigh P provides an elevated take on traditional American bar food, including a popular signature burger. While a delicious breakfast is often appreciated, some guests have found the breakfast buffet to be overpriced at around $24. Complimentary continental grab-and-go breakfast is available on Mondays, with full breakfast service offered on other days. Due to ongoing renovations, in-room dining may be temporarily unavailable, with a limited all-day dining menu served in the Terrace Room.

5. Service & Staff

Guest feedback on service is mixed. Many praise the "top-notch service" and the friendly, helpful nature of the staff, particularly the valet team who are consistently highlighted for their exceptional service and creative solutions. However, some guests have expressed significant dissatisfaction, citing issues like understaffing, a lack of communication, and front desk staff being "aloof" or "rude". There have also been recurring complaints about unreliable daily housekeeping services.

6. Location & Accessibility

The hotel boasts an excellent location in Dallas's Uptown district, just north of downtown. This area is rich with shops, galleries, and restaurants. Guests have easy access to popular attractions such as Klyde Warren Park, the Katy Trail for walking and cycling, the American Airlines Center (approximately 1 mile away), and the Dallas Museum of Art (about 20 minutes' walk). Transportation to and from Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) and Dallas Love Field Airport (DAL) is convenient via taxi, rideshare services, or public transportation (DART bus or rail).

7. Value & Pricing

Le Méridien Dallas, The Stoneleigh is considered an upscale hotel. While some consider its "unparalleled experience" worth the price, with average room prices around $352 (compared to a Dallas average of $156), others question the value given issues with service, cleanliness, and ongoing renovations. Room rates can vary significantly, ranging from approximately $142 to $687 depending on the room type and booking platform. Valet parking is the sole parking option and incurs a daily fee of $50, which some guests find expensive.

8. Common Complaints

  • Renovations: Ongoing renovations are a frequent complaint, leading to noise disturbances, limited access to certain facilities like the bar area or restaurant seating, and sometimes affecting the aesthetic with broken or unstable tiles.
  • Service Inconsistency: Recurring issues include understaffing, perceived rudeness or aloofness from front desk staff, and a general lack of communication regarding issues.
  • Cleanliness & Room Maintenance: Guests have reported issues such as unclean rooms, excessive dust on walls, dated furniture, non-functional room amenities like refrigerators, failed window seals, and unreliable daily housekeeping.
  • Noise: Apart from renovation noise, some guests have experienced significant hallway noise due to unsealed room doors.
  • Dining Value: The breakfast buffet is occasionally seen as not offering sufficient value for its price.
  • Parking Costs: The high cost of valet-only parking ($50 per night) is a common point of criticism.

This hotel, located in Uptown Dallas, provides safe accommodations in a clean and relaxing environment. Rooms are comfortable and in good condition, with all the amenities you would expect from this class of hotel. But this hotel in under renovation, with limited service, and, unfortunately we stayed here during a 3 day blizzard weekend where the majority of business were closed; such combinatio...

Phenomenal service! Second time to stay in the last 2 months and the hospitality alone is enough to keep coming back to Le Meridian. Excellent rooms, breakfast, and staff, Britney, Paris, and Journey especially made our stay extra special. All around wonderful experience both times. Will definitely be back!

As a Lifetime Titanium Elite member, I’ve stayed at many Marriott properties, and unfortunately, this was one of the most disappointing experiences I’ve had. I arrived at 11:45 a.m. hoping for an early check-in, which is typically accommodated at my status level, but I was told none were available. The front desk clerk showed no empathy and simply sent me to the restaurant to wait — only to find i...

I had a room booked here and was able to cancel it without issues when the horrible ice storm came to Dallas. Then when I had packages delivered there that I couldn't retrieve the team kindly shipped them to my home address. The customer service agent, Paris was so kind, helpful and quick to respond I cannot wait to come back! Thank you! Highly recommend!

Horrid. Don't stay here. Beyond the fact the hotel is undergoing major construction, I regretted my decision to pick this hotel the moment I checked in. Had to change rooms due to stains on the sheets. In my 2nd room, there are still stains on the sheets and the TV doesn't work. Nice staff in the lobby handing out glasses of champagne doing their best, but just pick another hotel that gets the bas...

Le’ Meridian is under significant renovation. So many of its services are not available or relatively pathetic for a high-end hotel. It won’t be finished till March 2026. Advise to stay somewhere else till then. A disappointing New Years Eve hotel experience.
