Hotel Clermont in Atlanta stands out as a distinctive and highly-rated boutique hotel, earning a Michelin Key One-Key distinction for a "very special stay." Guests consistently praise its unique blend of historic charm, modern design, and vibrant atmosphere, making it a popular choice for both locals and travelers seeking an unforgettable experience.

1. Overall Rating & Sentiment

The general consensus for Hotel Clermont is overwhelmingly positive, with an impressive overall score of 8.9 on platforms like Agoda and numerous "Exceptional" ratings on Hotels.com. The Michelin Guide awards it a guest score of 18.8 out of 20, reflecting high satisfaction. Guests frequently describe the hotel as "fun," "hip," "chic," "stylish," and "unique," consistently exceeding expectations.

2. Key Highlights

Hotel Clermont's appeal lies in its distinctive personality and well-curated amenities:

  • Design & Vibe: The hotel boasts a retro, "swinging 60s" style, blending Art Deco and mid-century modernist influences with contemporary art and up-to-date electronics. Its thoughtful and eclectic decor creates a warm, simple, and bright bohemian atmosphere.
  • Rooftop Bar: "The Roof" is a major draw, offering stunning panoramic views of the Atlanta skyline, a lively atmosphere with cocktails and street food, and a popular gathering spot for both guests and locals.
  • Prime Location: Situated in the vibrant Poncey-Highland neighborhood, guests appreciate its walkability to major attractions like Ponce City Market and the Atlanta BeltLine.
  • The Clermont Lounge: The hotel's legendary basement strip club adds a unique, albeit non-affiliated, element to its historic character, contributing to its reputation as a "happening" place.
  • Exceptional Service: Staff are consistently commended for their friendly, attentive, and exceptional service, often going above and beyond to ensure a memorable stay. Guests frequently mention a welcome drink (PBR or champagne) upon check-in as a thoughtful touch.

3. Room Quality

The 94 rooms at Hotel Clermont are thoughtfully designed and well-equipped. They are tastefully decorated in a retro style with modern technology. Guests generally find the beds comfortable and firm. Room types vary, including Deluxe King rooms (271 sq ft) and Bunk Rooms (305 sq ft). Cleanliness is a top priority, with the hotel receiving a high rating of 9.6 in this area. While some guests noted potential noise from the older building's plumbing or the Clermont Lounge, the hotel provides earplugs as a considerate amenity.

4. Dining Experience

Hotel Clermont offers a diverse and acclaimed dining scene:

  • Tiny Lou's: The hotel's French-Southern brasserie, Tiny Lou's, is Michelin-recommended and receives high praise for its delicious, internationally inspired cuisine, serving dinner and a weekend brunch. Room service from Tiny Lou's is available for dinner.
  • The Roof: Beyond drinks, the rooftop bar also offers a selection of street food, making it a fantastic spot for a casual meal with a view.
  • Lobby Bar: For creative cocktails and late-night bites, the lobby bar provides another inviting option.
  • Café Clermont: This on-site cafe serves Revelator coffee. While some guests have noted that coffee in the lobby or rooms might incur a cost or be decaf, the hotel offers complimentary urns in the cafe and can deliver non-decaf coffee to rooms.

6. Location & Accessibility

Located at 789 Ponce De Leon Ave NE, the hotel is nestled in the lively Poncey-Highland neighborhood, described as a "Boho part of the city" that is currently "on the up." Its prime location offers easy access to a variety of popular attractions:

  • Walkable: Guests can easily walk to Ponce City Market (a few blocks away), the Atlanta BeltLine Eastside Trail, and are close to numerous dining and shopping options.
  • Nearby Attractions: Piedmont Park, the Jimmy Carter Library & Museum, Fox Theatre, Georgia Aquarium, and the Coca-Cola factory are also within a short distance.
  • Transport: The hotel is approximately 16 km (9.8 miles) from Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL). Valet parking is available as the sole on-site parking option, typically costing $40-$47 per night. Some guests have noted the possibility of finding free street parking nearby.
  • Accessibility: Hotel Clermont offers several accessibility features, including accessible concierge and registration desks, an accessible exercise facility, guest rooms with mobility features (32" clear width doors), and accessible routes to common areas and Tiny Lou's restaurant.

7. Value & Pricing

Hotel Clermont is generally considered to offer excellent value for money, balancing affordability with a boutique luxury experience. With an average room price around $256, it provides a unique offering that often exceeds expectations despite being higher than Atlanta's average hotel room price of $192. Nightly rates typically range from $125 to $400, depending on room size and style. It's seen as a worthwhile choice for those looking for something "different and special" rather than a budget stay.

8. Common Complaints

While highly praised, a few recurring issues have been noted by guests:

  • Noise: Due to its historic nature, some guests have experienced loud plumbing. The vibrant nightlife, including the Clermont Lounge in the basement, can also contribute to noise, particularly on weekends, though earplugs are provided.
  • Parking Costs: The required valet parking comes with a significant daily fee of $40-$47, which can add to the overall cost of the stay.
  • Coffee Availability: Some guests have expressed a desire for complimentary in-room or lobby coffee, noting that some coffee options might incur a charge or be decaf in the room.
  • Room Maintenance: A few isolated reviews mentioned rooms feeling "spartan for the rate" or not being as well-maintained.

This hotel was great. The staff were so kind and accommodating. It has such a unique vibe compared to other cookie cutter hotels that was warm and welcoming. The room was boutique-ish, that it didn't really feel like we were in the middle of a big metropolitan city, although our view of downtown was awesome. Would definitely stay there again.

I have always wanted to stay at Hotel Clermont, and for my birthday, I finally did! We stayed for two nights and had the best experience. The staff was friendly and accommodating. The room was clean and the perfect amount of eclectic, and overall the entire hotel is situated right in the heart of Midtown. From the rooftop, to Tiny Lou's, and the hotel bar - there is an amazing experience waiting t...

Great little hotel. Staff are great. If you are from out of town or a tourist and want to be where the locals are avoid downtown where everything is overpriced and stay here. Hotel is basically in the middle of all of East Atlanta's funky cool neighborhoods, Inman Park, Old 4th Ward, Little Five Points, Reynoldstown, Frogtown, Virginia Highlands and Midtown. But it's still super close to downtown....

The front desk staff went above and beyond to celebrate our anniversary by upgrading our room and having champagne with a handwritten note waiting for us! The rooftop has a beautiful view. Our stay at Hotel Clermont was truly AMAZING! From the moment we arrived, the front desk staff made us feel so welcomed and celebrated. We were in town from Alabama for our wedding weekend, and to our surprise, they complimentarily upgraded us to the Flossie Suite — which completely made our trip! The suite was perfect: a cozy kitchen, a spacious living room, a comfortable bedroom, and two beauti...

A great experience from start to finish; but the icing on the cake was experiences we had towards the end of our stay. Sunday morning valet service with Kodi and Brandon was quick, friendly, and seamless. They even offered us water, which was thoughtful, and handled everything with ease. At the front desk, Taral was attentive and incredibly helpful. She took the time to walk us through options f...
