Moxy Atlanta Midtown: A Vibrant and Stylish Stay in the Heart of Atlanta's Arts Scene

Moxy Atlanta Midtown presents a lively and modern boutique hotel experience, drawing guests with its energetic atmosphere, contemporary design, and prime location in Atlanta's vibrant Midtown district. While not officially recognized as a Michelin Key Selected property in the available listings, the hotel consistently receives positive feedback for its unique character and excellent service.

1. Overall Rating & Sentiment

The general consensus among guests is highly positive, with Moxy Atlanta Midtown boasting an impressive overall rating of 8.6. Visitors frequently describe the hotel as having a "fun, lively greeting" and a "vibrant and spirited" atmosphere. Its pristine cleanliness, scoring a remarkable 9.2, is also a highly appreciated aspect of the guest experience.

2. Key Highlights

Guests consistently laud the Moxy Atlanta Midtown for several standout features:

  • Service & Staff: The friendly, welcoming, and helpful staff receive frequent praise, making guests feel valued from check-in, which often includes a welcome cocktail.
  • Lively Atmosphere & Design: The hotel is celebrated for its character, eye-catching decor, and vibrant public spaces, including a lobby with a fireplace, full bar, snack area, pool table, and tabletop shuffleboard, often featuring a DJ at night. The rooftop bar, High Note, is another major draw.
  • Location: Its central position in Midtown, within walking distance of numerous cultural attractions and public transport, is a significant advantage for explorers.
  • Amenities: The outdoor heated pool, fitness center, and free Wi-Fi are highly valued by guests.

3. Room Quality

The rooms at Moxy Atlanta Midtown are described as modern, clean, and well-appointed, providing a comfortable place to relax and recharge. They feature air conditioning, flat-screen TVs with streaming services, free Wi-Fi, work desks, and private bathrooms with complimentary toiletries and hairdryers. However, some guests have noted a minimalist design that can lead to a lack of convenient storage, with hooks being the primary option, sometimes positioned over the TV. Issues like "bad lighting" and barn-style bathroom doors that offer limited privacy have also been mentioned as criticisms of the room design.

4. Dining Experience

Moxy Atlanta Midtown offers a diverse dining experience focused around its social spaces:

  • Bar Moxy: The ground-floor bar serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and is a central hub for check-in and socializing.
  • Breakfast: Cooked-to-order breakfasts are available daily for an approximate fee of $16 per person. Some guests have noted confusion regarding breakfast inclusion.
  • High Note Rooftop Bar: This vibrant rooftop spot offers craft cocktails and shareable bites, providing an enjoyable evening option.
  • Other Options: The hotel also provides "fun naan bread specialties and kombucha on tap" and a convenience store for snacks. Adjacent to the Moxy is the AC Lounge, which also serves breakfast.

5. Service & Staff

Guest feedback overwhelmingly highlights the exceptional service and friendly staff as a major asset to the Moxy Atlanta Midtown. Reviewers consistently praise the welcoming nature of the crew, from check-in to interactions throughout their stay. The staff's helpfulness and positive demeanor contribute significantly to the lively and enjoyable atmosphere.

6. Location & Accessibility

7. Value & Pricing

Room rates at Moxy Atlanta Midtown typically range from $201 to $250 per night, though prices can vary, with some rates found from $136 to $494 depending on the season and booking. While these rates might be slightly above the city's average hotel price, guests often find the modern design, social spaces, and overall vibrant experience to offer good value. However, the additional cost of self-parking, which is typically $40 per day, can impact the overall perceived value for some guests.

8. Common Complaints

Despite the generally positive sentiment, some recurring issues have been noted by guests:

  • Room Design & Conveniences: A common complaint revolves around the minimalist room design, specifically the lack of storage options (relying heavily on hooks, some poorly placed), insufficient in-room conveniences like ice buckets or cups, and "bad lighting". The barn-style bathroom doors are also a frequent point of criticism due to their lack of privacy.
  • Parking: The $40 per day self-parking fee and the validation process, which some found inconvenient, are notable criticisms.

Warning: Personal items stolen from the room I writing this review to share my recent experience at this hotel. I am extremely disappointed and frustrated with my recent (02/12 - 02/16) stay. When I was out exploring the city and came back to my room, It was cleaned, bedsheets tucked in and my shopping bag (with all my shopping from the previous day) was missing. I immediately reported this to t...

The rooms were fine. Loose toilet seat, Barn style bathroom door which really isn't very private and the strangest room doors. The top half for glass that they had covered was some kind of contact paper, but you could still see light from the room from the outside around the cracks for the contact paper didn't completely cover the window. Clean place, reasonable price considering it's location.

The hotel looks nice and it's clean but the walls were so thin, even on a night where i didn't see many people it was extremely noisy. While I don't think my neighbors were completely over the top loud, I could hear every single word and movement as if they were in our own room as well as the footsteps and life in the room above until well after 3am. Never had this before and I travel a lot! Could...

However, when we were checking out, the front desk agent attempted to charge us an additional $730 for the same three nights. I showed her the Costco Travel confirmation showing the full payment, and after some back-and-forth, she ...
