The overall sentiment is overwhelmingly positive, with guests consistently praising its aesthetic, comfortable atmosphere, and excellent location. It's described as a "beacon of excellence" and a place that offers a travel experience that "lingers long after a guest's stay."
2. Key Highlights
Guests are particularly enchanted by the hotel's design-forward approach, featuring expertly designed interiors with contemporary artworks, modern furniture, and one-of-a-kind antiques. The property offers a relaxed atmosphere, complemented by delightful spaces such as a reading room and excellent porches for lounging. Its commitment to inclusivity is evident, being LGBTQ+-owned and operated, and proudly pet-friendly. The complimentary vegan breakfast is also a significant highlight for many visitors.
3. Room Quality
The rooms at Dreamers Welcome are individually and uniquely designed, offering a blend of luxury and coziness. They feature high ceilings, crown molding, large original windows, and chic en-suite bathrooms, some with clawfoot tubs. Guests can expect comfortable beds with premium bedding, custom-designed closets, and modern amenities such as streaming services, laptop-compatible safes, and air conditioning. Thoughtful touches like aromatic oil diffusers, Bluetooth speakers, bathrobes, mini-bars, and eco-friendly toiletries enhance the comfort.
4. Dining Experience
A notable aspect of Dreamers Welcome is its complimentary vegan breakfast, prepared by Californian chef Anna Masteller. The buffet breakfast offers a range of delicious and healthy options, including vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free choices, with dishes like quinoa porridge and cherry pistachio scones. While there isn't a full-service restaurant on-site, the provided breakfast is highly praised, and guests receive a map with recommendations for nearby vegan-friendly establishments. Private dining and private picnic options are also available.
5. Service & Staff
The service at Dreamers Welcome is often characterized as "invisible service" yet highly attentive and accommodating. Guest feedback frequently highlights the helpful and pleasant nature of the staff, with specific mentions of a manager named Sherry for being welcoming and attentive. 6. Location & Accessibility
Situated at 118 South 4th Street, Dreamers Welcome is housed in a historic 1895 Queen Anne-style property on the edge of Wilmington's riverside downtown district. Its location is considered perfect, offering easy walking access to downtown attractions, the Riverwalk, local shops, restaurants, Thalian Hall, and the Bellamy Mansion Museum. The beach is approximately 15 minutes away by car. For transportation, a roundtrip airport shuttle is available for a surcharge, and self-parking is offered on-site, also for a daily fee.
7. Value & Pricing
Dreamers Welcome earned its Michelin Key in part due to its "value for the price," indicating that guests find the experience justifies the cost. As of January 28, 2026, prices for a one-night stay for two adults started around $207.25. The average weeknight price is approximately $247, while weekend nights average around $262. It's important to note that extra person charges apply for guests 12 years and older (US$40 per person per night when using an extra bed), and there are additional fees for pet stays (USD 40 per pet, per night) and self-parking (USD 25 per day).
8. Common Complaints
While largely positive, some guests might find certain policies restrictive. Children 11 years old and younger are not permitted at the property. Additionally, guests should be aware of surcharges for services such as self-parking (USD 25 per day), airport shuttle (USD 37.50 one-way), and a 3% fee for credit card charges. The historic nature of the building means there are no elevators, which could be a consideration for some travelers.

Everything is to love! Responsive hosts and very kind and accommodating. The cookie and milk platter was a great add on choice and 100% worth it. All the small details to make the stay perfect. The room is very clean. Location is great if you are traveling in or a local just wanting a staycation!

Will certainly be returning. The property was stunning inside and out. Almost frustrating how well the interior was designed and decorated. The vegan breakfast each morning was fantastic. Thanks, Shelly! Enjoyed the historic neighborhood and was able to find good food and drink just a few blocks away.

It's rare to have vegan breakfast options with quality as good as this place. Very impressed with that. Pretty clean, nice property and staff available by text are very nice. There was an issue with the toilet in the room not working, but the propery rectified that and treated us well.

Our suite was in the bottom floor & had views of the garden all around. The bathroom was huge (almost as big as the main room!) and had lots of plants inside too. The room was nicely decorated & the bed was comfy. The ...

We had a wonderful time. The rooms are so unique. Everything was comfortable, from the bed to the couches in the common room. The front covered porch was so relaxing. Breakfast was delicious. Sherry was a wonderful host. She was very accommodating. We can only recommend.
