  • Design & Vibe: The hotel, a combination of two historic buildings, is celebrated for its elegant and stylish design. Reviewers appreciate the "boutique styling," "modern design," and "luxurious touch" that blends raw woods, leathers, and botanical prints, creating a "warm, cozy, sophisticated" atmosphere.
  • Location: Its downtown Portland location is repeatedly cited as "perfect," "great," and "auspicious," providing easy access to dining, shopping, and attractions like Powell's City of Books and Tom McCall Waterfront Park.
  • Amenities: On-site amenities like the 24-hour fitness center with Peloton bikes, complimentary Wi-Fi, and unique dining and bar options are highly appreciated. The presence of a coffee shop in the lobby also adds to guest satisfaction.

3. Room Quality

The rooms at Woodlark are generally well-received for their comfort and design. They are described as "beautifully designed, comfortable, and so thoughtfully maintained." Rooms feature "elegant figures in near-monochrome, livened by emerald-hued headboards and sapphire-toned upholstery." Guests also note the "moody, chic and spacious" nature of some rooms, such as the deluxe corner king. Amenities include Italian linens, flat-screen TVs, handheld steamers, bathrobes, and MiN or Zenology bath products. However, some guests have mentioned minor quirks such as the TV being to the side of the bed, limited clothes storage, or the absence of a desk in some King Rooms, which might be a drawback for business travelers. Rooms may also have a minibar and an honor bar featuring local products.

  • Good Coffee (Roseline Coffee): Located in the lobby, this specialty coffee roaster provides "good indeed" coffee and breakfast items, including Texan kolaches. Guests appreciate the convenience of a coffee station in the lobby, with a daily $15 food and beverage credit often included in the destination fee.

Room service is also available 24/7, featuring local favorites like Salt & Straw ice cream.

8. Common Complaints

While largely positive, some recurring criticisms or issues have been noted by guests:

  • Shower Pressure/Drainage: Several reviews mention issues with low water pressure in the showers or water pooling instead of draining properly.
  • Room Layout/Features: A few guests have noted quirky room layouts, such as the TV not being directly in front of the bed, limited space for clothes storage, or the absence of a desk in some King Rooms, which may not suit business travelers. There have also been instances where a "city view" room offered a view of a shaft or a wall instead.
  • Parking Cost: The valet parking fee of $60-65 per night is considered steep by some.
  • Breakfast Discrepancies: One review mentioned a booking that included breakfast, but guests were told they had to pay extra upon arrival.
  • Lack of In-Room Coffee: Some guests expressed a desire for in-room coffee makers.

Centrally located in downtown Portland this Hotel is a comfortable, quiet, sophisticated retreat. Serving great barista coffee and small bites throughout the day in the Lobby area you also have the choice of a seated restaurant and bar plus a smaller gathering area for cocktails and quick finger food options. The staff are very friendly and attentive which makes for a welcoming experience and the ...

Great location in downtown Portland. Each staff member I spoke with was extremely friendly and helpful. Including those working at the breakfast bar. Unfortunately, the rooms are very small. And my first room had a non-functional TV and air conditioning unit. I had to change rooms. Appreciated that this Marriott had more character than your average Marriott.

Quaint but a little quirky, with two-sided elevators that open opposite the lobby (need to pick the one that goes to your side of the building). Kind of odd for an upscale hotel to not have in-room coffee maker or iron (had a clothing steamer instead).

Added price stuff with minimal response as to why- just presented as a given,(30$ daily fee for?) Small room, clearly the worst of the worst, prime price paid in cash. Have stayed in much better places (embassy suites, etc.) for much less. Outside window is a wall, actually a walled up wall. I have to believe we were given the worst room in the hotel. Almost seems vindictive. No closet, minimal ...

The Woodlark Hotel is very nice and clean. Parking is not great, but after 7 p.m., parking is free downtown. Just finding one is tough at times. The hotel does have a valet for $60 a night. Other than that the staff is really nice and welcoming.

We spent a week at The Woodlark in July, and had a great experience! The staff are so welcoming, and helpful and they even upgraded our room. The rooms are beautiful, and stocked with waters, and nice shampoos/lotions, etc although the rooms are pretty small. The hotel is quiet, but there was an event going on Friday night, which was very loud and even on the top floor kept us up until after midni...
