It is frequently described as "very good" with high ratings for staff and location. Guests often fall "in love with Regina" due to its inviting atmosphere and stylish design.

2. Key Highlights

Guests consistently praise several key aspects of Das Regina. Its "cool and urban design," which is quite unusual for a small mountain village, is a recurring highlight. The hotel masterfully mixes styles, from original golden Venetian and Baroque elements to Italian country and shabby chic, creating an opulent yet comfortable ambiance. The incredible staff, perfect location, and excellent breakfast are also frequently cited as major draws. Furthermore, amenities like the cozy library with comfortable purple velvet sofas, an in-house cinema, and a well-equipped spa area with sauna and steam bath contribute significantly to guest satisfaction.

3. Room Quality

Das Regina offers 32 individually designed rooms, ranging from basic to deluxe, ensuring a unique experience for each guest. Rooms are characterized by their comfortable beds and are often spacious. Many rooms feature private balconies or terraces, offering "amazing views" of the surrounding mountains. The bathrooms, described as traditional or retro-style, add to the hotel's distinctive character. Modern conveniences such as complimentary Wi-Fi and flatscreen TVs are also provided amidst the antique-ish furnishings and chandeliers.

4. Dining Experience

The dining experience at Das Regina is highly regarded. The restaurant serves "high quality, fresh, young cuisine" with a focus on regional products, often incorporating sophisticated Austro-Mediterranean plates. Dinner is described as "fantastic" and "delicious" with a great ambiance. A complimentary, hearty breakfast spread, including Nannini espresso, organic bread, homemade egg dishes, and fresh fruits, receives consistent praise for its quality and variety. The Regina Bar is a "hip" hotspot, offering Italian coffee specialties and homemade pastries during the day, transforming into a vibrant spot for drinks and music in the evenings. A lounge area with an open fireplace provides a comfortable setting for relaxation after meals.

6. Location & Accessibility

The hotel boasts a prime central location in Bad Gastein, being only a 2-minute walk from the city center, the famous waterfall, and the casino. Its proximity to key attractions and transport links is a significant advantage; the Stubnerkogelbahn cable car is approximately 300 meters away, and a ski bus stop is conveniently located just 50 meters from the hotel. The train station is also a short 5-minute walk away.

8. Common Complaints

While guest feedback is overwhelmingly positive, minor criticisms are occasionally mentioned. One guest noted that, despite careful renovation, the "old house" might show signs of age in certain areas, leading to a slightly lower rating in that instance. Another minor suggestion was a desire for "nicer or more suitable wine glasses." Additionally, while parking is available, it incurs an extra cost.

We stayed 3 nights here in January, and found all staff to be very welcoming, helpful and friendly. The rooms can be a little dark, and ours had a light fitting which appeared to be dangling by a thread! But caused us no issues. Maybe just a few upgrades/touch-ups in places would help give a more newer, fresher feel to the hotel. The Sauna and steam room is free for guests, which is a massive adde...

Visited for dinner and the staff were very accommodating and friendly. Lamb chops were delicious and perfectly curated. The risotto was also very well presented. Even if you are not staying at a hotel guest I would highly recommend you to visit the restaurant whilst visiting Bad Gastein.

What a delightful hotel. The staff are really friendly and helpful. The food in the restaurant was great and the bar tender makes a really good cocktail. Lovely little spa downstairs and cinema room. Great location to slopes and overall a really lovely place. I'd definitely recommend.

Stayed over Chritsmas, will not go back. Just be aware that many things explicitly shown on the pictures don't actually work (e.g. TV, the central fireplace, sauna). The rooms are ok, but badly insulated and sometimes the hot water doesn't work. During breakfast they try to serve the old bread until someone says something. Ultimately all small issues - if properly adressed or even just excused...

The location, service, and breakfasts at this hotel are simply wonderful — everything was very enjoyable and convenient. However, the hotel itself is in need of renovation, as some areas feel outdated. Overall, a pleasant stay, but some updates would make it truly exceptional

Pleasant hotel with nice boutique style, though the room showed some signs of wear and could use renovation in places. The restaurant was lovely with beautiful views and good food. Great facilities for cyclists with bike storage available. The sauna was an excellent bonus and much appreciated after a day of travel. Overall a good stay with some nice amenities despite the room needing updates.
