1. Overall Rating & Sentiment

The general consensus for Country House Villadorata is overwhelmingly positive, with guests frequently describing it as "exceptional" and a "haven of peace." It holds an exceptional rating of 9.6 based on 58 reviews on Booking.com, with particularly high scores for staff (10.0), cleanliness (9.9), and location (9.8). Many reviewers express a strong desire to return, highlighting a deeply relaxing and luxurious experience.

2. Key Highlights

Guests consistently praise several key aspects of the property:

  • Service: The staff receives outstanding feedback, often described as "exceptional," "attentive," "friendly," and "helpful in every way." Many feel a "luxury family stay" atmosphere due to the personalized care.
  • Location & Design: The "beautiful, tranquil setting" amidst 57 acres of olive, almond, citrus groves, and vineyards cultivated with biodynamic agriculture is a major draw. The hotel itself is the result of a late 19th-century rural estate restoration, now an elegant eco-resort with a "gorgeous decor" and "well-designed facilities."
  • Amenities: The mineral salt pool, described as "serene and quiet" and "designed for restorative swims," is a favorite. The property also offers vast gardens, free Wi-Fi, and on-site parking. Some suites feature private plunge pools.

3. Room Quality

Country House Villadorata offers a variety of well-presented rooms and suites. Guests describe them as "luxurious," "beautiful," and comfortable.

  • Eco Suites: These are sustainably built with a refined design, featuring floor-to-ceiling windows, private plunge pools, and green walls that echo nature. They are bright, welcoming, and offer panoramic views.
  • Pool Suites: These are highlighted for their private swimming pools, high ceilings, and large square bathtubs with views of the rolling hills.
  • Rooms generally include comfortable beds, new and clean facilities, good-sized and spotless bathrooms with high-quality furnishings, and artisanal bath products made with the estate's own extra virgin olive oil. Amenities like Nespresso coffee machines, beach towels, sun umbrellas, yoga mats, and Smart TVs are provided.

4. Dining Experience

The dining experience at Country House Villadorata is consistently praised.

  • Restaurant Orti di Villadorata: The on-site restaurant, Orti di Villadorata, is exclusive to hotel guests for lunch and dinner and celebrates the farm's seasonal bounty with a menu focused on fresh, zero-kilometer produce and traditional dishes with a contemporary interpretation. Dinner is often described as "amazing" and "incredible." One reviewer noted the set menu dinner as a "must."
  • Breakfast: Breakfast is frequently cited as "outstanding," "unreal," and "incredible," featuring fresh fruit and vegetables from the property's own produce. Guests can enjoy a hearty breakfast on private terraces with panoramic views. However, one review mentioned the continental offering as "frugal," with tiny pastries and limited fruit, and a supplement for eggs. Coffee was also noted as not great due to being made from a pod capsule.

5. Service & Staff

The service and staff are a standout feature, receiving an exceptional score of 10.0 on Booking.com. Guests repeatedly commend the staff for being "attentive," "knowledgeable," "helpful," and "friendly." Their "care and attention to details and quality service is outstanding." Staff members go above and beyond, offering recommendations, room upgrades, and accommodating late check-out requests. The service is often described as 11/10.

6. Location & Accessibility

The hotel is nestled in the heart of the Val di Noto, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, offering "breathtaking views across the valley." It is located about 4 km or 2.5 miles from the Baroque town of Noto, making it a "great escape" but still "very well located" for exploring the area. While close to Noto, a car is recommended as a return transfer to Noto can be costly. The property itself is surrounded by 57 acres of cultivated countryside, offering serene walking trails. Other baroque cities like Ortigia, Modica, Scicli, and Ragusa Ibla are also accessible.

7. Value & Pricing

While the exact price range varies, the property is considered a luxury eco-resort. On Booking.com, its value for money score is 8.5. One reviewer noted that without a car, transport costs (e.g., airport transfers and trips to Noto) can make the stay "very expensive." Despite this, the overall sentiment suggests that the exceptional experience justifies the cost for many guests.

8. Common Complaints

While overwhelmingly positive, a few minor criticisms were noted:

  • Room Darkness: One guest found their room "a little too dark, even in the daytime," making it "not easy to read in bed." Another mentioned a room being "quite dark and not very private."
  • Seating Comfort: Seating on an upper patio was described as "not comfortable" (sling chairs).
  • Limited Dining Options: One guest found the restaurant food options "extremely limited" with only two choices per course, geared towards fine dining only.
  • Breakfast Quality (Minor): While generally praised, one review found the continental breakfast "frugal" with tiny pastries, limited fruit, and a supplement for eggs, with coffee made from a pod capsule.
  • Lack of Gym: For a property of this level, one guest missed having a gym.
  • Limited Communal Space & Daytime Pool Service: A reviewer mentioned that the atmosphere was "lacking," with "poor" daytime service around the pool area and "very limited" communal space. They also found it difficult to find someone to serve a daytime drink or food.
  • Privacy Concerns: The presence of CCTV cameras on a patio was noted as "off-putting" by one guest.

We had the most amazing time here, from the moment we arrived to the moment we (reluctantly) had to leave. The staff were exceptional, helping us book taxis when required, as well as rearranging dinner with them. Everything was just seamless. The room was perfect, super private with all the amenities we needed (the fridge was pretty useful). We had room service lunch a couple of times, and the fo...

Lovely stylish hotel in the middle of Sicilian countryside, wineries and orange trees. IMO the pool setting is the most beautiful part, we could relax, stay in the shade and let the day pass. The restaurant food is also great if you are into degustations and Michelin. Our room smelled so sweet, like jasmine.

Our family of four thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Villa Dorata country house. The amenities are a haven of style and comfort, we have been taken care of by the team in an exceptional way and the good was really out of this world. We stay often at great hotels but this one takes a special place in our heart.

What an incredible place! The grounds are breathtaking and so relaxing. There are only a few rooms scattered across the large grounds making you feel like it’s all yours. Staff was incredibly kind and helpful - they even went to the post office to pay a parking fine we got. Breakfast was one of the best we’ve ever experienced, with a large variety of sweet and savory options. Especially the loca...

Our stay at Country House was nothing short of spectacular. The property is stunning, with rooms that perfectly blend modern design and authentic Sicilian style. Every detail, from the elegant decor to the warm hospitality, was thoughtfully curated. The resident animals, who occasionally wander by to say hello, added an extra layer of charm to the experience. Breakfast was a true highlight — easi...
