5. Service & Staff

The service at Lefay Resort & Spa Lago di Garda is consistently praised as superb, exceptional, and attentive. Guests frequently highlight the politeness, hospitality, and friendliness of the staff. The attention to detail and genuine warmth from the staff contribute significantly to the relaxing and welcoming atmosphere. While one review noted potential for improvement in certain service points, the overall feedback is highly positive, with staff creating a memorable experience.

6. Location & Accessibility

Lefay Resort & Spa Lago di Garda is idyllically located on a small mountain on the western shore of Lake Garda in Gargnano, nestled among hills and olive groves. This elevated position provides unparalleled panoramic views of the lake. While the secluded nature of the resort offers peace and tranquility, it also means it's not directly in the heart of a bustling town. The drive up to the resort can be "adventurous" due to its high location.

The resort offers a free shuttle service to the town center of Gargnano (from 10 am to 7 pm, subject to availability). While a car is recommended for exploring the wider region, the resort provides plenty of parking and even has its own helipad.

7. Value & Pricing

Lefay Resort & Spa Lago di Garda is positioned as a luxury property, and its pricing reflects this. Nightly rates can range from approximately $400 to over $800, with average prices around $500-700. February is typically the cheapest month, while December can be the most expensive.

Despite being expensive, many guests consider it to be worth the cost for the standards set, the exceptional experience, and the comprehensive facilities, particularly the spa. Special offers and wellness packages are available, sometimes providing good value, especially when booked through programs that include credits or upgrades.

8. Common Complaints

While generally highly praised, a few recurring criticisms have been noted:

  • Dated Decor (Pre-2021 Renovations): Before the 2021 renovations, some reviewers found the decor to be dated, with one mentioning an "80s 5-star hotel" ambiance in the lobby and an "eyesore" mix of red marble and walnut wood paneling in rooms. While rooms have been updated, some parts of the spa and spa reception were still described as looking like they were from the 2000s in a 2022 review.
  • Secluded Location: For guests who prefer to easily walk into a town for a change of pace, the resort's elevated and secluded location can be a minor drawback, as it requires a shuttle or car to reach Gargnano. The drive up can be winding.
  • Lack of Welcome Amenity: One reviewer mentioned being disappointed about not receiving a welcome amenity, despite booking with a premium travel agent, considering the hotel's category.
  • Spa Policies: While the spa is a highlight, one review mentions the encouragement for nudity in certain sauna areas, which might not appeal to all guests.
  • Employee Feedback: Some past employee reviews mention concerns regarding management, working conditions, and accommodation for staff.

Genuinely one of the most beautiful hotels I've ever stayed in. The views are absolutely stunning, and every direction is beautiful. The food was delicious, as were the drinks. The staff were all so incredibly helpful and kind. The pools were amazing, and the indoor/outdoor pool was awesome for a rainy day spot. The hiking path on the property was also a fun surprise and had some beautiful scener...

Just outstanding. For me the only thing that’s more beautiful than Garda itself is this hotel. The staff, the service is just amazing. I’ve been to many 5 star hotels and resorts, this one simply stands out. The road up to the resort is a bit of a hassle but once you get there you’ll forget about it. Thanks again Lefay team and it won’t be the last time.

Our room was 75 degrees F the entire stay. We talked to the staff multiple times a day and they never resolved the problem. There was a huge hair plug in the bath tub that I had to clean out. No tissue, cups, coffee or creamer. We had to a...

Luxury resort as per presentation. Iconic spa. FULLSTOP...the massage was barely sufficient. The restaurant is a theft!!! 15-20 euros for a single small glass of wine...and the food not unforgettable...the price was unforgettable indeed...regrettably... A pity...

Absolutely stunning location in Lake Garda, situated high atop the mountainside overlooking the water. We were stunned and delighted to enter the private gates to this magnificent property. Multiple pools, saunas, spa treatments and more. It was a dream to stay there. We’ll definitely be back!

Great stay at Lefay Lago di Garda. Service extremely friendly, beautiful resort, excellent facilities including full length training pool and well-equipped gym. Highly recommended and the staff gladly accommodated a late (2-3pm) checkout for us at no extra cost. One point to note which should be obvious is that the hotel is perched high-up on a hill. There are no readily available taxis in the ar...
