The Carlton Hotel St. Moritz, a distinguished Michelin Three-Key property, consistently garners praise as one of the world's most luxurious ski hotels, offering an extraordinary and highly personalized stay.

Overall Rating & Sentiment

The general consensus for Carlton Hotel St. Moritz is overwhelmingly positive, with guests frequently describing it as an "once in a lifetime experience" and "amazing." It holds an outstanding score of 9.6/10 based on reviews, reflecting an exceptional blend of quality and value. The hotel is lauded for its ability to exceed expectations, making it a truly memorable destination.

Key Highlights

Guests consistently adore the spectacular panoramic views of Lake St. Moritz and the Engadine Valley, which are a feature of every room and many public spaces. The impeccable and highly attentive service, often including a personal butler for larger suites and a greeting from the general manager, is another standout. The lavish and unique design by Swiss interior designer Carlo Rampazzi, featuring bold colors and luxurious furnishings, contributes significantly to the hotel's regal ambiance. Amenities such as the extensive three-floor spa with indoor and outdoor pools, a heated towel closet, jacuzzis, steam room, and panoramic sauna are also frequently highlighted. Complimentary limousine service within St. Moritz and to the Corviglia ski station further enhances the luxurious experience.

Room Quality

The rooms and suites at the Carlton Hotel St. Moritz are renowned for their incredible luxury, spaciousness, and unique design. All 60 rooms and suites are south-facing, ensuring breathtaking views of the lake and mountains. Entry-level Deluxe Double rooms start at a generous 35 m², while suites range from 45 m² to an impressive 386 m² for the Carlton Penthouse, which includes three bedrooms, five terraces, a fireplace, and a private elevator entrance. Interiors feature lavish furnishings, luxurious fabrics, soft armchairs, sofas, and large marble bathrooms, some even comparable in size to entire entry-level rooms in other luxury hotels. Thoughtful touches like walk-in wardrobes, complimentary minibars, Nespresso machines, and twice-daily housekeeping with replenished towels are highly appreciated by guests.

Dining Experience

The hotel offers exceptional culinary experiences across its several dining venues. Da Vittorio - St. Moritz, the hotel's gourmet restaurant, holds two Michelin stars and 18 Gault&Millau points, offering authentic Italian dishes. The Grand Restaurant, with 16 GaultMillau points, provides a more relaxed dinner setting, focusing on local produce and wild ingredients with views of the Engadine mountains. Breakfasts are described as sumptuous and extraordinary, featuring a high-quality buffet with items like smoked fish, salmon, raw meat selections, and delicious bread, often accompanied by Roederer champagne. The Carlton Bar & Bel Etage, recognized by Forbes as one of the world's best bars, provides a chic setting with fireplaces, live music, and a sun terrace boasting arguably the best views in St. Moritz, perfect for afternoon tea or light lunches. Unique fondue gondolas also offer a cozy dining experience.

Service & Staff

The service at Carlton Hotel St. Moritz is consistently highlighted as impeccable, highly attentive, and incredibly kind and thoughtful, with a strong focus on detail. Guests feel treated like royalty, with every arrival greeted by the general manager, setting a personalized tone for the stay. Many appreciate the private concierge available 24/7 and the outdoor butler service to organize tailored experiences. Staff members are noted for remembering guests by name and attending to every request, creating a feeling of being at a "second home".

Location & Accessibility

Perched high on a hillside overlooking Lake St. Moritz and the Engadine mountain valley, the hotel boasts an unmatched and spectacular location, offering breathtaking panoramic vistas. While shielded from the immediate town buzz, it's only moments away from the center of St. Moritz. The hotel provides a 24-hour limousine service within St. Moritz and a shuttle service to the Corviglia ski station, ensuring easy access to attractions and ski runs. The St. Moritz Olympic ski runs and cross-country trails are readily available for guests.

Value & Pricing

The Carlton Hotel St. Moritz is a top-tier luxury property, and its pricing reflects this exclusivity and exceptional service. While specific price ranges can vary significantly based on season and room type, typical nightly rates for a deluxe room have been observed between approximately $1,686 and $4,500. Low season (March) might see a 15% drop in price, while high season (December) can see a 37% rise. Despite the high cost, many guests consider the experience to be well worth it, given the unparalleled luxury, service, and amenities provided.

Common Complaints

While overwhelmingly positive, a minor recurring issue noted by some guests relates to occasional massage booking mix-ups at the spa, which, despite the staff's politeness, added a brief moment of tension.
