Expert Review: Ace Hotel Seattle

Ace Hotel Seattle, a Michelin Key Selected property, offers a distinctive boutique experience in the vibrant Belltown neighborhood. It generally garners positive feedback for its unique style, prime location, and friendly service, though some aspects, particularly regarding room amenities and accessibility, receive mixed reviews.

1. Overall Rating & Sentiment

The overall sentiment for Ace Hotel Seattle is largely positive, with guests often appreciating its "boutiqueness" and "delightfully quirky" atmosphere. Review aggregators show a "Very good" to "Good" consensus, with high scores for location, service, and cleanliness.

2. Key Highlights

Guests consistently laud the hotel's location, placing it ideally for exploring Seattle's key attractions. The design and eclectic atmosphere are frequently highlighted, with guest rooms described as looking "more like a gallery than most galleries". The friendly and attentive staff also receive high praise.

3. Room Quality

Ace Hotel Seattle offers rooms with a distinct design, often featuring "14-foot ceilings and walls of whitewashed brick". The beds are generally reported as "very comfortable". However, it's crucial to note that fully half of the standard rooms "do not have their own private bathrooms" and instead utilize shared facilities. Some reviews also mention concerns about noise levels and the need for improvements in certain room amenities.

4. Dining Experience

The hotel provides a "scrumptious breakfast" in its breakfast room, which includes a waffle station and cold breakfast items like yogurt and pastries. Guests have described the breakfast as "varied and very nice," with "very good" coffee.

5. Service & Staff

The service and staff at Ace Hotel Seattle are frequently commended for being "friendly and attentive", "welcoming and helpful", and "amazing". Guests have appreciated their hospitality and willingness to assist. However, one notable complaint highlighted a lack of communication regarding front desk hours, leading to guests being locked out late at night.

6. Location & Accessibility

Situated in Downtown Seattle's Belltown neighborhood, the Ace Hotel boasts a "great location" with excellent accessibility to major attractions. It is conveniently close to the waterfront, Pike Place Market, and the ferry. Public transport is also easily accessible, with a bus stop within 300 meters. A significant accessibility concern is that the hotel is "not handicap accessible" and has "almost two floors of stairs to get in and out," making it challenging for those with mobility issues, as upper floors are accessible by stairs only.

7. Value & Pricing

Opinions on value and pricing are mixed. While some guests consider it "great value for money" and "efficient", others feel it has "nose high pricing" for what they perceive as "hostel style rooms" (referring to those with shared bathrooms). Typical prices for a one-night stay for two adults can start from around $139, with an average room rate in the past month being about $210.17 USD. The cheapest deals are often found in March and February, and staying on a Saturday or Monday might offer better rates.

8. Common Complaints

Recurring issues include the presence of shared bathrooms in standard rooms, which can be a point of contention for guests expecting private facilities. Accessibility is another significant concern due to the lack of handicap access and the presence of numerous stairs. Some guests have also reported issues with noise levels in rooms. A serious complaint involved guests being locked out due to uncommunicated front desk closing hours, leading to safety concerns.

HOLY MOLY! Such a great stay! Recommending to all friends and family My wife and I just returned to the midwest from visiting family on Vancounver Island. Flights to Vancouver via Chicago were $$$ and for a third of the price we flew to Seattle and took the FRS Clipper to Victoria and back. The port was two blocks from the Ace Hotel and when we arrived, we were warmly greeted by Tracy who our dog...

Had my first stay at Ace Hotel Seattle and it was awesome! Doug checked me in and gave a great restaurant suggestion (which I used and it was delicious) and I had a great chat with Tracy too. Such nice people there, really cool rooms and situated in the hip and convenient Belltown neighborhood. Next time I’m in Seattle, I’m heading straight to the Ace–the hotel that feels like Seattle’s cool older...

Calling the Ace Hotel Seattle a 2 star hotel on Google is a disservice to it's 5 star truth. For the location, vibe, comfort and overall coolness, a room here is worth every penny even if you're just crashing at the end of the night. You're in Belltown and can branch out to the entire city from here. Comfy rooms and beds, clean showers, cool music, cool staff and good coffee in the morning. Trust.

I stayed here for two nights with my husband (who is also my sound guy) because I was doing a live episode of my podcast at the venue across the street. The staff at the Ace was amazing!!! The breakfast was a nice surprise and the bed was comfy. Also the lobby smelled really good 😂I loved the photo wallpaper murals. The Ace is definitely going to be my default hotel anytime I am in Seattle!!

Pros: excellent location especially for the cruise ships; friendly staff; good breakfast; spotlessly clean shared bathrooms (don’t be scared of) Cons: NOT for light sleepers - lots of drunk people noise from outside; curious glass panes above doors letting all the light in from reception - a simple low cost blackout treatment would easily solve

Response from the owner

City noises can be tough on light sleepers, I agree. Hopefully you found the earplugs in room we provide for those who can be a little noise sensitive. We appreciate the feedback and hope to see you a...
