Despite some rooms being described as "smallish," guests find them well-designed and cozy. The rooms are adorned with rich walnut paneling, pink marble accents, brass lighting, and unique artwork curated by local artists like Upfor Gallery and ceramics by Clay Factor. Comfort is prioritized with pillowtop beds, down comforters, and premium bedding, which guests often describe as "so comfy." Bathrooms feature large walk-in showers with rainfall showerheads and Hox shower amenities.

4. Dining Experience

The hotel boasts two distinct dining destinations and multiple bars. Lovely Rita is an all-day Pacific Northwest bistro and café located off the lobby, offering diverse food options. Tope, the rooftop taqueria and bar, serves Mexico City-inspired fare with an outdoor terrace providing sweeping views, including Mount Hood. Guests frequently praise the delicious food at both establishments. For evening drinks, 2NW5, a speakeasy-style basement bar, offers inventive cocktails. The hotel's "Flexy Time" policy, allowing free check-in and check-out at any time, adds to its perceived value.

8. Common Complaints

While guest reviews are largely positive, the most recurring "complaint" from guests is simply that some rooms, particularly the "Shoebox" category, can be small. However, this is clearly communicated by the hotel's room naming convention. Some older employee reviews from platforms like Indeed.com indicate issues with internal management, pay, and a stressful work environment, which, while not directly impacting guest experience, are worth noting in a comprehensive overview of the property. These employee-reported issues are distinct from the positive experiences reported by hotel guests.

We stayed 3 nights for a granted wish for my kid to attend a lakers game. All staff was welcoming, accomodating and made us feel like celebrities. The rooftop taqueria was surprisingly good and had amazing views. The second night we were delighted with a private dinner at the apartment and Chef Adan made an exquisite combination of Mexican cuisine and American. First time a hotel hairdryer actuall...

I cannot say enough good things about my stay at The Hoxton Portland. From the moment my girlfriend and I arrived, the staff went above and beyond to make us feel truly welcome. This place did not feel like a hotel… it felt like home. A huge shoutout to Sam at the front desk… my goodness. She was absolutely outstanding. From the very beginning, she went out of her way to make sure we were taken c...

overall, the stay was solid. the room was small but well furnished. good view of the street and buildings. room was very quiet. bathroom was clean, and shower worked well, plenty of hot water. ac unit was easy to use, and windows opened to allow for fresh air. the lobby is petite but nice. the main drawback is the location and neighborhood: it is close enough to lots of good things to do to use th...

I cannot recommend this hotel enough! It has a real sense of place, great, flattering lighting, and no white walls in the rooms! The staff was super friendly, even just in the elevator, and really made me feel truly welcome, like I was staying in a (low-key but very stylish) friend’s awesome guest room. They even pay attention to the special requests field in the reservation- I’d requested extra p...

We wanted something clean, safe and dog friendly and this was exactly the place. Phenomenal eating all within a 5 minute walk from breakfast to food trucks and dinner. And then the staff, beyond our expectations. From Andres at the front door to Mac that checked us in the other young man and even the Manager. All were extremely helpful, kind and professional while being very friendly.
