  • Design & Atmosphere: The hotel is celebrated for its award-winning, fully renovated 1950s Mid-Century Modern aesthetic, described as "retro chic" by The New York Times. The distinctive neon sign, drive-in diner feel, and hubcaps on the walls are all nods to its 1950s automobile-inspired design. The architectural style features geometric and sculptural elements, an open-air plan, and nautical touches.
  • The Iconic Pool Area: The lush courtyard with its iconic mermaid mosaic pool is a major draw. The pool is heated and oversized, surrounded by funky seating, custom-made rattan chaise lounges, and a relaxing poolside cocktail bar. Guests often describe the pool area as "cute" and "so nice".

  • Comfort & Design: Rooms are often described as spacious, comfortable, and quiet. They combine modern amenities with "cool uber-chic touches" and "Mid-Century Modern design details". Features include original terrazzo and wood flooring, Italian-made hypoallergenic mattresses, and hand-drawn geometric wall murals.
  • In-Room Amenities: Guests find flat-screen Smart TVs, eco-friendly spa-quality toiletries, in-room workstations, and laptop-sized safes. Select rooms also offer Keurig® coffee makers and mini-fridges. Showers are noted for being large with good water pressure, and bathrobes are a nice touch.

4. Dining Experience

The hotel features on-site dining options and complimentary refreshments:

  • Ensenada: The Vagabond Hotel is home to Ensenada, a restaurant praised for its elevated Mexican coastal cuisine. While some sources indicate it's open on weekends, it's generally a guest favorite and open to the public.
  • Complimentary Offerings: Guests can enjoy complimentary morning coffee and tea served daily in the lobby. Some reviews mention a complimentary continental breakfast with toast, pastries, oranges, yogurts, and cereals, though some wished for more healthy choices.

We hit the jackpot in Miami. Right in the historic district sits this impeccably restored hotel that feels like a hidden treasure. The moment you walk in, you’re transported to another era — timeless style, classic details, and that unmistakable old-Miami charm. The pricing is shockingly fair for what you get. The staff? Gracious, attentive, and genuinely happy to help with anything. And the po...

The Vagabond hotel is very cute! The owners are onsite daily and seem to really care about the space. We especially enjoyed the poolside patio and only wish we visited during ON season so we could enjoy the poolside bar. The pool is heated and perfect for the cooler winter temps. No hot tub that I could see. Our room was very clean and the mattress firm and new - no divets! The shower was spacious...

Spent two nights here. Fantastic, friendly staff at the Vagabond. Great communication. The hotel is a great example of Miami Modern design. Pool was warm and a delight to swim in. Highly recommended. Tiny gripe is that we missed having a mini-fridge in the room but no big deal.

We’ve been repeat customers for many years and love the Vagabond. The rooms and grounds are super clean and the rooms have everything you need. On this last visit, we were pleasantly surprised to see they had raised the temperature of the pool so you can actually float and enjoy the water for a long lazy time. Hope they keep this up!

I never leave reviews but I felt compelled after staying at Vagabond. After a cancelled flight, I was lucky enough to snag a room here and stay for 4 nights. Billie and Mae were so kind in helping me secure a room and were extremely comforting after a stressful travel da...
