Expert Review: The Ocean Club, A Four Seasons Resort

The Ocean Club, A Four Seasons Resort, Paradise Island, Bahamas, stands as a beacon of luxury and elegance, earning its selection as a Michelin Key property. This iconic resort, with its rich history dating back to 1962, offers a serene escape on a pristine white-sand beach, balancing exclusive sophistication with family-friendly amenities.

1. Overall Rating & Sentiment

The general consensus for The Ocean Club is overwhelmingly positive, often described as nothing short of luxurious and sophisticated. Guests frequently praise its beautiful grounds, stunning beach, and the tranquil atmosphere it provides, making it a memorable "dream come true" for many. Despite its upscale appeal, it maintains a family-friendly environment.

2. Key Highlights

Guests consistently laud several aspects of The Ocean Club:

  • Stunning Location & Design: The resort boasts a breathtaking white-sand beach and expansive, meticulously manicured grounds, including the romantic Versailles-inspired gardens complete with statuary. Its grand colonial-style architecture exudes an elegant and exclusive ambiance.
  • Exceptional Amenities: Highlights include three distinct outdoor pools—a peaceful adults-only pool, a lagoon-style family pool, and an infinity pool overlooking the ocean. The Balinese-style spa with private villas offers a tranquil retreat. An 18-hole championship golf course and six tennis courts are also available.
  • Thoughtful Touches: Complimentary Champagne and strawberries are delivered to rooms daily, enhancing the sense of luxury. Guests also benefit from a free shuttle service to the nearby Atlantis Resort, providing access to its attractions without the crowds.

3. Room Quality

The 105 rooms and suites are celebrated for their gorgeous and sophisticated design, available in both traditional colonial (Hartford Wing) and contemporary Bahamian styles (Crescent Wing). Key features include:

  • Comfort & Design: Rooms are spacious and well-appointed, with furnished private balconies or patios. Interiors often feature mahogany furnishings, hardwood floors, and vibrant tropical accents.
  • Luxurious Bathrooms: Massive modern bathrooms are a highlight, typically including large bathtubs (often jetted) and separate walk-in steam showers. High-end fixtures and ample storage are standard.
  • In-Room Perks: Guests receive free bottled water, coffee, and fresh fruit upon arrival, alongside the daily Champagne and strawberries. Modern comforts like flat-screen satellite TVs, iHome docks, and luxurious toiletries are also provided.

4. Dining Experience

The Ocean Club offers a range of dining options, with quality generally receiving high marks:

  • Dune by Jean-Georges Vongerichten: The resort's signature French-Asian restaurant by celebrity chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten is a standout, featuring an open kitchen, fresh Caribbean ingredients, and exquisite ocean views. It serves à la carte breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
  • Other Options: Ocean Blu provides a casual oceanfront spot for lunch, offering dishes like Conch Salad and Poke Bowls. The Dune Bar and Martini Bar and Lounge offer cocktails and lighter fare, with the Martini Bar noted for its classic James Bond ambiance. In-room dining is also available.
  • Breakfast: The à la carte breakfast at Dune, particularly the Eggs Benedict and fresh coffee, is often praised.

5. Service & Staff

Service at The Ocean Club generally reflects the Four Seasons standard, though feedback can be mixed:

  • Highlights: Many guests experience "classic Four Seasons service" with friendly and attentive staff. The Kids For All Seasons club staff are highly praised for their engagement with children. Beach service is often described as excellent and relaxed.
  • Inconsistencies: Some travelers report service being "underwhelming for the price," with occasional delays, forgotten requests, and slow room service. While butler service is included with suites, its consistency can vary, with some experiences being exceptional and others more mediocre. A 15% gratuity is often built into services, which some guests feel might impact staff "hustle."

6. Location & Accessibility

The resort's location on Paradise Island is a significant advantage:

  • Secluded Oasis: Situated along a beautiful stretch of Cabbage Beach, The Ocean Club offers a sense of seclusion and privacy, despite the beach being open to the public.
  • Proximity to Atlantis: It's conveniently close to the Atlantis Resort, with a complimentary shuttle providing easy access to its casino, Aquaventure water park, and additional dining options.
  • Travel: The resort is about a 30-40 minute taxi or private car ride from the airport, depending on traffic through downtown Nassau. The property itself is described as very walkable, allowing easy access to restaurants, the spa, and the beach.

7. Value & Pricing

The Ocean Club is a high-end luxury resort, and its pricing reflects this.

  • Cost: Stays can be very expensive, with some reporting costs around $6,000 per night for suites.
  • Perceived Value: While many appreciate the luxury, some guests question if the overall experience consistently justifies the "high prices," especially when encountering service inconsistencies or limited dining options. However, the included amenities like Champagne, Atlantis access, and the overall ambiance add significant value.

8. Common Complaints

While largely positive, recurring criticisms include:

  • Service Inconsistencies: The most frequent complaint is that service can be "underwhelming for the price," with issues like slow room service, missed messages, and forgotten requests.
  • Limited Dinner Options: Dune is often the only restaurant open for dinner on-site, which some guests find restrictive for a prolonged stay at a luxury resort.
  • Food Quality: While Dune is highly rated, some guests have reported inconsistencies in food quality across the resort, with room service meals occasionally arriving cold.
  • Lack of Hot Tub: A surprising omission for a resort of this caliber is the general lack of a hot tub, unless staying in a multi-bedroom residence.
  • Non-Private Beach: Although beautiful, the beach is public, and occasional noise from nearby tour boats can be a minor disturbance.

This used to be one of my favorite hotels, but unfortunately that is no longer the case. I am currently staying here, and there are several issues worth noting: • The bed in our room is extremely uncomfortable — it feels like sleeping in a hammock. • The spa treatment beds are also very hard and uncomfortable, which makes it difficult to fully relax during longer treatments. • My husband had a go...

Just had the most exceptional time at Ocean Club. Everything from the food to the beach to the service was absolutely amazing. I also want to give special shoutouts to Raeshaun, Terran, and Lance. They provided excellent service to my group and genuinely made us feel like we were at home! I’m already counting the days until I can visit this amazing property again!

I had lunch at the Ocean Club, Four Seasons, Paradise Island, Bahamas on January 23, 2026. Sharnet was our host alone with two other people. The lunch was good and the ambiance was very relaxing. I did not stay at the resort but I would love too one day just to experience the style of the resort.

Paradise Island has no shortage of hotels, but The Ocean Club — now proudly under the Four Seasons flag — has long held a reputation that sets it apart. Even before the brand transition, when it was known as the One&Only Ocean Club, this property was whispering its quiet brand of luxury to those who preferred understatement over spectacle.
