Guests frequently commend the friendly staff, clean accommodations, and a location particularly convenient for events at the nearby exhibition grounds. The hotel is recognized as a 4-star establishment.
2. Key Highlights
Guests consistently praise the hotel's friendly and helpful staff, its clean environment, and its strategic location near the Cologne Messe exhibition grounds. The hotel's stylish and modern design, nestled amidst historic industrial architecture, is a significant draw. Amenities such as a private garden, sauna, fitness center, free WiFi in public areas, and free self-parking are also frequently appreciated. The Michelin Key selection further underscores its excellence in design, ambiance, and service quality.
3. Room Quality
The New Yorker Hotel offers modern rooms and suites featuring designer furniture and stylish decor. Rooms are designed with coordinated color concepts and an elegant, purist furnishing style. Many guests describe the beds as comfortable. Some room types include balconies and dressing areas. However, some guests have mentioned that certain rooms could benefit from renovation. Recurring criticisms include transparent glass walls for bathrooms, which some guests find problematic due to lack of privacy, and, in some larger rooms, the bed size being disproportionately small. Additionally, there have been occasional reports of insufficient heating in rooms.
4. Dining Experience
A breakfast buffet is served each morning, and many guests have described it as "very good," highlighting its quality. The hotel's bar offers snacks, including soups and salads, along with a variety of drinks. The lobby bar is a place where guests can enjoy appetizers and salads.

6. Location & Accessibility
Situated in an industrial area, the hotel is a 10-minute walk from the Cologne Messe exhibition grounds, making it highly convenient for visitors attending events there. It is also about 500 meters from the Rheinpark. While it's noted as being "a little off the beaten path" or "tucked away," public transport is readily accessible. The Grünstrasse Underground Station is approximately a 10-minute walk away, providing a 15-minute connection to Cologne city center. A bus stop right next door further enhances travel convenience within Cologne. The hotel also offers free self-parking.
7. Value & Pricing
Room prices on KAYAK start from around $95 for a standard room and can go up to $133 for a double room. Booking.com rates the hotel's value for money at 7.7-7.8 out of 10. While generally considered good value, some guests have found the breakfast to be expensive for its variety, and the cost of certain additional services, such as a car charger, has been noted as high.
8. Common Complaints
While largely positive, reviews occasionally highlight a few recurring issues:
- Breakfast Value: Some guests feel the breakfast, despite being good, does not offer sufficient variety or value for its price.
- Room Condition/Design: A few rooms have been noted as needing renovation. Specific design choices, such as transparent glass walls for bathrooms, have been a "no-go" for some, even with curtains.
- Bed Size: In some larger rooms, guests have found the beds to be surprisingly small.
- Heating: Issues with rooms not heating sufficiently have been reported.
- Noise: There have been mentions of potential noise, and some guests advised requesting rooms away from staff smoking areas to avoid discomfort.
- WiFi: While generally available and rated 8.4/10 on Booking.com, some isolated functionality issues have been noted.

Had an amazing stay at The New Yorker, stayed there for 6 weeks while transition into relocating into Cologne. Amazing staff, really there to support, help and super friendly. Only downside I could say depending on if you here for a conference etc then it is a perfect location but could be that you want things on the other side of the Rhyn, really preferance I guess.. Thank you to the team of 'th...

The staff is nice and was easy to check in&out. We had a double room which was spacious, but we found lots of dust on the furniture, spiderwebs and the towels did not smell clean, so considering the price and stars of the hotel it’s not worth it. We were lucky to find 1 parking space in front of the hotel, as the hotel does not offer parking. The space here belongs to the city so anyone can park. ...

The hotel is nice and the service very polite and kind, they offer breakfast that you can add as well. The rooms are very clean and spacious, good lights and comfy. It’s a bit outside from the center, but you have connections.

It's a bit far from cirty centre but for Bootshaus it's the best option. Hotel looked good, rooms were clean, staff was the best. At check-in they opened the terrace just for me and when i overslept my check-out with half and hour they made no problem of it at all and didn't charge me anything extra. "You partied a bit to hard, those things happen no worries" Best staff ever.

On the occasion of the ISM Koln event, I stayed in this hotel. The reception team was very kind and welcoming, the hotel is quite chic, but unfortunately I had two unpleasant experiences, one more unpleasant than the other. 1. The bathroom of room 038 smelled very bad, I can compare the smell to that of grease 2. I had breakfast, where I also served the omelette that contained bacon, it was hot wh...
