2. Key Highlights
Guests consistently rave about several aspects of The Hoxton, Holborn:
- Location: Its central position is frequently highlighted as "virtually unbeatable" and "excellent," offering superb accessibility to major attractions and transport.
- Design & Atmosphere: The hotel's industrial-quirky and mid-century modern design, particularly its vibrant, open-plan lobby, is a major draw. The lobby serves as a lively hub for co-working, socializing, and dining, popular with both guests and locals.

- Amenities: Features like free Wi-Fi, a "no rip-off minibar" concept (with mini-fridges stocked with free milk and water, and items available at reception for supermarket prices), and free daily barista-made drinks for Dis-loyalty members are appreciated.
3. Room Quality
The hotel offers 220 modern and thoughtfully designed rooms, categorized by size from "Shoebox" (smallest) to "Biggy" (largest). While some rooms, particularly the "Shoebox" and "Snug" categories, are compact by international standards, they are cleverly arranged to maximize space and minimize a cramped feeling.
Rooms feature an eclectic and industrial-inspired design with luxe leather touches, dark navy walls, gold-framed prints, and sometimes bespoke Dickens-themed wallpaper. Comfort is a priority with handmade, sumptuously soft mattresses, blackout drapes/curtains, and soundproofed walls ensuring a quiet stay. Bathrooms are modern with rainfall showers and quality Blank or Pen & Ink toiletries. In-room amenities include flat-screen TVs, Roberts DAB radios, tea and coffee making facilities, and mini-fridges with complimentary fresh milk and water.
4. Dining Experience
The Hoxton, Holborn features Rondo, its main neighborhood restaurant, which serves seasonal modern bistro dishes from breakfast through to dinner, seven days a week. Rondo is highly regarded for its food and impressive wine list, being popular with both hotel guests and locals.
In addition to Rondo, the hotel boasts a vibrant Lobby Bar and a coffee bar, Holborn Grind. Guests appreciate the quality of the coffee and cocktails available. While older reviews mention a "paper-bag breakfast" and restaurants like Hubbard & Bell and Chicken Shop, Rondo is now the primary dining establishment for all-day service, including breakfast.
5. Service & Staff

Guests frequently highlight the staff as "amazing," "very friendly," "welcoming," and "helpful," often going "above and beyond" to ensure a good stay. 6. Location & Accessibility
The Hoxton, Holborn boasts an exceptional and "unbeatable" central London location on High Holborn. It is just a "stone's throw" or a 2-minute walk from Holborn tube station, which is served by the Central and Piccadilly lines. This provides direct and easy access to:
- Covent Garden, Soho, and the West End theatre district (within walking distance or a short tube ride).
- Oxford Street for shopping.
- The British Museum (a 6-minute walk).
- Other nearby attractions like Somerset House and Lincoln's Inn Fields.
- London Heathrow Airport via a direct train ride on the Piccadilly line.
7. Value & Pricing
The Hoxton, Holborn is generally considered to offer "affordable luxury" and "exceptional value for money" in central London. While specific rates vary, prices can start from approximately £200 per night. Some reports indicate an average price of around $370 per room, which is framed as good value compared to the city's average, though it is higher than the overall average hotel price in London. Discounts are available for members of the Dis-loyalty program, including 20% off first-time stays and 10% off return visits.
8. Common Complaints
While largely positive, some recurring points of feedback include:
- Room Size: The smaller room categories, "Shoebox" and "Snug," can be perceived as compact, especially for those accustomed to larger American hotel rooms.
- No Bathtubs: Many rooms feature walk-in rainfall showers but lack bathtubs, which can be a personal preference for some guests.
- Lack of On-site Leisure Facilities: The hotel does not have a gym, spa, or pool. However, this is often mitigated by the excellent location for exploring the city.
- Minor Inconveniences: Very occasionally, minor issues like breakfast delivery glitches in older reviews or sound carrying from corridors have been mentioned, though the rooms are generally described as quiet.

Fantastic stay from start to finish. The hotel was extremely quiet, even though it’s located near the road and close to the elevators. The shower facilities were excellent, with strong water pressure and hot water almost instantly. The staff were genuinely friendly, attentive, and understood our needs right away. Everything was clearly explained, and we encountered great service at every point du...

This is hands down one of my favorite places in London! Such a convenient, central location, and a fantastic lounge/bar area. I’d also like to mention Sam, who is incredibly kind and helpful! One of the best hotel managers I’ve encountered in my years of traveling around the world :)

Really enjoyed my time here! Great location and staff. My only suggestion for improvement: upgrade to Smart TVs. It’s a small detail, but it makes a big difference for guests who want to stream content after a long day of sightseeing.

We had an incredible stay over New Year's. The rooms were so chic and big enough. They also had an event for NYE which made out night. A special shoutout to Sam at front desk. We had the most wonderful interaction with him and he recommended some excellent cafes near by. Would absolutely stay again.

The best part of this hotel is definitely the location. As a tourist, Holborn is a great district to stay in. The staff is friendly - receptionists were always smiling at us. Rooms are okay. Bathroom could be more clean. No slippers available sadly. And since the bed is leaned against the wall, we could feel and hear it when someone in the room next to us closed their doors. We could also hear lo...

Stylish, lively, and perfectly located, but don’t expect spacious rooms. They’re well-designed but very small — most people seem to hang out in the lobby anyway, which has great energy and excellent cocktails. The service was genuinely good, friendly, and quick, which made the stay much smoother. One thing to note: your room won’t be cleaned unless you specifically ask, which feels a bit odd for t...
