Expert Review: The Club Hotel & Spa
The Club Hotel & Spa, located in St. Helier, Jersey, is a Michelin Key Selected property renowned for its blend of city sophistication, warm ambiance, and luxurious offerings. It consistently receives high praise from guests, particularly for its exceptional dining and spa facilities.
1. Overall Rating & Sentiment
The general consensus for The Club Hotel & Spa is overwhelmingly positive, with many guests describing their stays as "wonderful" or "very good". Review platforms show high ratings, often ranging from 8.8 to 9.1 out of 10. Guests frequently commend the cleanliness, amenities, and, most notably, the helpful and friendly staff.
2. Key Highlights
Guests consistently highlight several standout features:
- Michelin-Starred Bohemia Restaurant: The hotel is home to Bohemia, a restaurant that has proudly held a Michelin Star for 21 consecutive years and boasts 4 AA Rosettes, making it a significant draw for food enthusiasts.
- Luxurious Club Spa: The spa is a major attraction, featuring an impressive subterranean area with a mosaic-tiled indoor saltwater pool, a thermal suite (including a Salt Cabin, Herbal Steam Room, and Experience Shower), and five treatment rooms. An outdoor heated pool and sun terrace are also available, especially enjoyable during warmer months.
- Central Location: Situated in the heart of St. Helier, the hotel offers easy access to the main shopping street, bars, restaurants, and is a short walk from the beach (such as Havre des Pas and St Aubin's Bay).
- Unique Amenities: The rooftop cocktail garden, the "world-first" Gin Honesty Bar in the library, and bespoke experiences like shopping butler packages are also frequently appreciated.
3. Room Quality
The hotel offers 38 Deluxe Double Rooms and 8 Suites, all designed for comfort and relaxation. Rooms are described as stylishly furnished, spacious, and decorated in a calming, neutral palette. Key features include:
- Crisp white Frette linen and feather beds.
- Full air conditioning, free super-fast Wi-Fi, safes, and large wall-mounted televisions.
- Luxury granite bathrooms equipped with power showers, separate baths (in some studio rooms), soft bathrobes, slippers, and Elemis toiletries.
- Many rooms feature full-height windows that open to Juliet balconies, allowing for plenty of natural light. While some older reviews mention that certain bathrooms might feel a little dated or have odd sink heights, more recent feedback emphasizes modern luxury and comfort.
4. Dining Experience
The dining experience is a significant draw:
- Bohemia Restaurant: As Jersey's only Michelin-starred restaurant, Bohemia offers contemporary European cuisine under the guidance of Head Chef Callum Graham. It focuses on exquisite dishes crafted from fresh, locally sourced, and seasonal Jersey ingredients, including tasting menus that cater to various dietary preferences. The dining experience is often described as theatrical and sophisticated.
- The Club Bar & Roof Terrace: This offers a more casual yet high-quality dining option with an accessible bistro menu, including hearty eats like crab linguine, risotto, and burgers. It also serves an extensive cocktail menu and is a popular spot for lunch, dinner, and afternoon tea, with the option to dine al fresco on the rooftop terrace.
- Breakfast: The breakfast includes a continental buffet alongside hot dishes cooked to order from a menu, such as a Full Jersey Breakfast and kippers, receiving positive feedback and an AA Breakfast award.
5. Service & Staff
The service at The Club Hotel & Spa is consistently lauded as exceptional. Guests frequently praise the staff for being helpful, friendly, polite, and attentive. The team is known for providing personal service, being responsive to guest requests, and proactively greeting visitors. The reservations team, in particular, has been noted for their helpfulness in arranging bookings for local restaurants across Jersey.
6. Location & Accessibility
The hotel boasts an "unrivalled" central location in St. Helier, the capital of Jersey. It is conveniently situated within a few hundred meters of the main shopping street, offering easy access to shops, bars, restaurants, museums, and other attractions like Jersey Museum and Maritime Museum. The beach at Havre des Pas is just an 8-minute walk away. While it's centrally located, it maintains an "oasis of calm" atmosphere.
The hotel provides free on-site parking. Jersey Airport is approximately a 20-minute drive away. Some guests have noted that the entrance, located at the rear and on the slopes of Fort Regent, might involve navigating slopes with luggage. Accessibility to the spa and treatment rooms might be a challenge for guests with certain mobility issues.
7. Value & Pricing
The Club Hotel & Spa is considered a luxury boutique hotel, and its pricing reflects this, although many guests find it offers good value for the quality of experience. A 1-night stay for two adults can start from approximately $134.49 to US$145. The hotel offers various packages, such as spa getaways and overnight gourmet breaks, often including breakfast and dining experiences, with prices starting from around £149 to £158 per person for double occupancy. A "Shopping Butler" package, including a two-night stay, breakfast, spa access, and a tasting menu at Bohemia, was offered from £519 for two people.
8. Common Complaints
While overall sentiment is very positive, a few minor recurring issues or criticisms have been noted:
- Exterior Appearance: Some older reviews suggest that the hotel's exterior facade might be "lacklustre" or not as enticing as its interior.
- Interior Decor (Past): While generally stylish, some older feedback mentioned the hotel could benefit from some updating to attract a younger audience, with specific mentions of certain bathrooms appearing a "bit tired" or "cramped" with dated fixtures. However, more recent reviews emphasize modern design, suggesting this may have been addressed or is specific to certain room types.
- Room Views: A few guests have reported views from their rooms facing an adjacent building wall.
- Bedside Plugs: One older review noted a lack of electrical plugs by the bed.

We had a delightful experience for a 1 night staycation. The staff could not have been friendlier and attentive with it being our first time staying. The room service breakfast is unlimited and included in the breakfast package, which was a lovely little feature. Full stocked bar (at an extra cost per item) but use of locally sourced amenities which was nice. It was quiet but with a lovely welcomi...

We stayed for 3 nights last week, excellent hotel, on arrival we had a glass of prosecco and our baggage was placed in our room. There is a fully stocked mini bar. Safe and the decor was lovely. We tried the Michelin sample menu, excellent really tasty, only the trout roe but me off. We also had afternoon tea sweet and savoury, really nice. Restaurant/bar had really nice food. We went to the spa, ...

I attended this hotel on the 30th December 2025 with my teenage daughter and friend. I cannot recommend enough!! We had breakfast and then a spa morning and both spa staff and the hotel staff were amazing!! The staff in the lobby and breakfast room were so friendly and went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and comfortable and nothing was to much trouble!

We had such a lovely time here. The rooms were spotless and very comfortable. Breakfast was very good with lots of choice. All of the staff were friendly, welcoming and very helpful. We would especially like to mention Esther and Tiango who were there every day at breakfast with a smile. They also served us in the Bohemia restaurant when we had our Michelin Star tasting menu, which was amazing. Th...

Just a 1 night stop in St Helier, very comfortable and spacious rooms, well soundproofed. Very friendly and helpful staff. The sauna was out of order when we went. Large pool. The only negative was the breakfast which was a bit basic for a hotel of this level.

Overall very nice stay. Definelty not a 5 star hotel but still a very nice stay. Staff were friendly and helpful. Rooms need a touch up and still can't work out why the sink is knee high. Breakfast was ok though very slow on the last night. Spa was a little lacking, again needs a touch up with broken tiles, pool could do with being heated inside and outside.
