Expert Review: Hotel Terra
Hotel Terra, Jackson Hole: A Comprehensive Review of a Michelin Key Selected Property
Hotel Terra, a Michelin Key Selected property in Jackson Hole, United States, generally garners a positive reception for its prime location, modern alpine design, and extensive amenities, though some guests have raised concerns regarding value and service consistency during off-peak times.
1. Overall Rating & Sentiment
The general sentiment for Hotel Terra is largely positive, with guests appreciating its luxurious yet unpretentious atmosphere. It holds a "Very Good" rating with a guest feedback score of 18.9 out of 20 based on verified stays. However, reviews can be mixed, particularly regarding its perceived value for money, with some considering it overpriced despite the luxury offerings.
2. Key Highlights
Guests consistently laud Hotel Terra for several standout features:
- Location: Situated in the heart of Teton Village, the hotel boasts ski-in/ski-out access to Jackson Hole Mountain Resort, making it ideal for winter sports enthusiasts. It's also a convenient base for exploring Grand Teton and Yellowstone National Parks in the warmer months, with everything in Teton Village being walkable.
- Design & Aesthetics: The hotel blends Wyoming charm, ski lodge chic, and a modern aesthetic with an understated chalet exterior. Inside, it features cracking stonewalled fireplaces, Western motif photography, modern furniture, and "rough luxe" accents like cowhide cube chairs and glass-topped log coffee tables. It is also LEED-certified green.
- Amenities: Hotel Terra offers a range of appealing amenities, including a stunning rooftop terrace with mountain views, a full-service spa offering massages and body treatments, a fitness center, and an outdoor heated infinity pool. Other conveniences include free in-room WiFi, ski valet services, and on-site designer shopping.
3. Room Quality
The 132 rooms and suites are described as stylish, spacious, and well-appointed, designed with subdued earth and burnt orange hues.
- Comfort & Features: Rooms come with premium bedding, blackout drapes, and modern comforts such as large flat-screen televisions, iPod docks, mini-fridges, and complimentary wireless internet access. Many suites feature gas fireplaces and balconies with breathtaking mountain views. One-bedroom suites can comfortably sleep up to four, featuring a king-sized bed in the main bedroom, a large fold-down Murphy bed in the living room, and a fully equipped kitchen, which is a significant plus given the area's high prices.
- Bathrooms: A highlight for many guests are the luxurious bathrooms, often equipped with double vanities, heated floors, jetted tubs, and rain showers.
4. Dining Experience
Hotel Terra hosts two Italian restaurants on-site: Il Villaggio Osteria and Bar Enoteca.
- Il Villaggio Osteria is a sit-down, fine-dining Italian eatery known for its open pizza oven, hand-made pastas, and a salumi bar.
- Bar Enoteca offers an Italian wine bar experience with tapas-style dishes and cocktails.
- While the restaurant food generally receives good remarks, one guest noted room service breakfast was "terrible". The availability of fully equipped kitchens in suites offers guests the option to prepare their own meals.
5. Service & Staff
Feedback on service and staff is somewhat varied.
- Many guests report polite and passionate hospitality, with front desk staff being friendly. One particular staff member, Israel from maintenance, was highlighted for going out of his way to assist guests with directions and checking in on them.
- However, some reviews indicate that during the off-season, the hotel can feel "understaffed" with "rude" front desk staff. Other criticisms include staff not seeming engaged and concierges lacking information on ski rentals or lift tickets.
6. Location & Accessibility
Hotel Terra's location in Teton Village is a major draw.
- Proximity to Attractions: It offers immediate access to the slopes of Jackson Hole Mountain Resort, including the Bridger Gondola Ski Lift and Jackson Hole Aerial Tram. The hotel is also close to the Snake River for summer activities like swimming, rafting, or fishing. Grand Teton National Park is approximately 1.6 miles away.
- Neighborhood: Teton Village is a walkable area with a variety of restaurants, convenience stores, and shopping locations.
- Transport: The hotel provides ski-in/ski-out access, offers a 24-hour roundtrip airport shuttle (surcharge), and has free uncovered self-parking, with covered valet parking and extended parking available for a daily fee. Electric vehicle charging points are also on-site.
7. Value & Pricing
Pricing at Hotel Terra is often a point of contention.
- While some reviews suggest an average room price around $683, offering "exceptional value for money", others have found it to be "WAY over priced," paying upwards of $900 per night for accommodations they felt were comparable to a "Mariott quality at best".
- Nightly rates can range significantly, with average weeknight prices around $989 and weekend nights at $1,102. April is noted as the cheapest month to stay, while December is the most expensive.
8. Common Complaints
Despite its luxury status, some recurring issues and criticisms have been noted by guests:
- Pricing Discrepancy: A frequent complaint is that the hotel is overpriced for the accommodations and food, with some guests feeling the quality does not always align with the high cost.
- Off-Season Service: During the off-season, there have been reports of the hotel being understaffed and employees not being adequately trained or managed, leading to rude front desk staff and poor room service breakfast.
- Noise Disturbances: One significant complaint detailed an extremely noisy overnight snow plowing operation in the parking lot, directly outside rooms, causing sleep disruption for hours.
- Amenities in Separate Tower: Some guests found it "a little annoying" to be in a separate tower from the main lobby.

I stayed in December of 2025 through the AMEX hotel collection and realized I never left a review. In short, excellent all around. Staff were incredibly welcoming, Lia at the front desk was extremely helpful with all my questions, and she upgraded us to a one bedroom suite that was really excellent. The lobby guys kept the fireplace roaring and the coffee and hot chocolate carafes full. We real...

Location you can’t beat. Service is very solid and lovely people. Hotel needs a whole upgrade. I stayed here 10 years ago. I don’t think anything has changed. Gym is very old and lacking equipment. Rooms are small and rough around the edges. Would not pay the room rate again for this place. Love Jackson hole always though!

Location is tough to beat. Parking included in the stay. Staff was friendly and professional. Expectations were a little higher- Some lights that weren't working, staff had to change light bulbs. Toilet was running the whole trip. Carpet tacks were exposed where the bathroom door met the hallway. It Booby trap for my kid and wife. The restaurant has a solid brunch and great pizza. Hot tub on o...

This was going to be a 5 star review, but even the best service and quality accommodations can’t erase fraudulent credit card charges. This really saddens me since we were already planning our next stay there. We arrived on 12/18/25-12/22/25. This was our first time staying at Jackson Hole in the winter and we had a great time. The staff were very pleasant. We checked out and the company emailed...

Make sure to review your credit card statement for any overcharges. We’ve been staying at Hotel Terra since 2015 when we started visiting Jackson Hole annually for skiing. The location is fantastic, and the area is beautiful, but unfortunately, the service and overall quality of the hotel have steadily declined over the years. During my most recent stay in January 2026, I noticed a charge from t...
