1. Overall Rating & Sentiment
Maison Chiberta consistently receives "Excellent" ratings from guests, with scores of 8.7 on Agoda and 8.8 on Booking.com based on hundreds of reviews. The overall sentiment is highly positive, highlighting it as a recommended destination for quality and comfort, suitable for both leisure and business travelers. Its selection by the Michelin Guide further underscores its high standards.
2. Key Highlights
Guests are particularly fond of several aspects that make Maison Chiberta stand out:
- Service & Staff: The staff is frequently described as superb, attentive, friendly, professional, efficient, and genuinely welcoming, often going above and beyond to ensure a comfortable stay.
- Location: The hotel boasts a prime and enviable position in Anglet, nestled between forests, close to the beaches, and directly alongside the renowned Chiberta Golf Club. It offers easy access to local attractions and is just a few minutes from Biarritz.
- Design & Ambiance: The hotel's recent renovation is highly appreciated, featuring beautiful decoration, a cozy yet refined atmosphere, and an elegant blend of contemporary clean lines with artisan-made crafts. An Andalusian-style courtyard and Mediterranean-inspired patio form the heart of the establishment.
- Amenities: Guests appreciate the well-equipped spa (300 m² with an indoor pool, steam room, sauna, and L:a Bruket treatments), an outdoor pool, a modern Technogym fitness studio, and complimentary Wi-Fi and parking. Direct access to the Chiberta Golf course is a significant draw.
3. Room Quality
Maison Chiberta offers 58 authentically elegant rooms and suites across six categories, ranging from 17 m² to 72 m², including Junior Suites and Suites. Guests describe the rooms as beautiful, comfortable, immaculate, exquisite, and well-equipped. Each room is designed to provide a restful stay, featuring plush linens, fresh towels, a modern television with satellite and cable channels, a coffee/tea maker, and a minibar or refrigerator. Many rooms also offer a private balcony or terrace, with some providing scenic views of the surrounding pine forest or the golf course. Duplex rooms are particularly noted for being spacious and pampering, often with balconies overlooking the golf course. Some rooms are also accessible for guests with reduced mobility.
4. Dining Experience
The hotel's on-site restaurant, led by Chef Juan Arbelaez, is a culinary highlight, focusing on grilled cuisine with a blend of Basque, Iberian, and Latin American flavors. The setting for the restaurant, opening onto a lake and park, is particularly well-regarded. Breakfast is consistently praised as excellent, very good, copious, and delicious, served in a lovely setting. A unique "Brunch à la Braise" is offered every Sunday, centered around food cooked on a monumental brazier, complemented by buffets of local products, sweet treats, cocktails, and fresh juices. While breakfast receives high marks, some guests have expressed that the evening restaurant can be expensive for the perceived quality and that service occasionally falls short during dinner.
5. Service & Staff
The service and staff at Maison Chiberta are a recurring point of praise. Guests frequently highlight the team's attentiveness, professionalism, efficiency, and genuinely friendly demeanor. Many reviews mention staff members going "out of their way to help" and contributing significantly to a welcoming and comfortable experience. The multi-lingual staff is also appreciated.
6. Location & Accessibility
Maison Chiberta enjoys an excellent location in Anglet, described as being in "the best part of Anglet" and very close to Biarritz. Nearby attractions include the vibrant Halles des 5 Cantons market and the tranquil Forest of Chiberta, offering scenic walking and biking trails. The beach is also a short distance away.
For accessibility, Biarritz Pays Basque Airport is only about 5-10 kilometers away, typically a 10 to 15-minute drive. The hotel is well-connected by various transport options, including taxis, shuttle services, and the local bus network (line 38 stops approximately 3 minutes on foot from the hotel). A dedicated bike path passes directly in front of the hotel. Free on-site parking is available for guests.
7. Value & Pricing
Guests generally consider Maison Chiberta to offer "great value" for both leisure and business travelers. The typical room rate in the past month averaged around 165.46 EUR, compared to Anglet's city average of 118.5 EUR, reflecting its premium offerings. Double room prices can range from approximately 135 EUR to 419 EUR. An additional city tax of 3.74 EUR per person per night applies for guests over 18. Breakfast is typically an additional cost, around 20 EUR for adults and 15 EUR for children.
8. Common Complaints
While overwhelmingly positive, some minor criticisms have been noted by guests:
- Some rooms, particularly the "Comfort Double Room," were described as "small" despite being "exquisite."
- A few guests found the evening restaurant to be somewhat expensive for the quality of the food and felt the service during dinner could be improved.
- One review mentioned the water temperature in the spa's indoor pool being "a bit limite," detracting from the overall spa experience.
- An earlier review indicated that renovation works caused some noise in the mornings, suggesting that not all refurbishment was fully completed at that time.

Had an ok experience. Room was basic but fine. This is really a hotel for Golfers. If that’s not your thing you should probably look elsewhere. Restaurant is fine. Service is cordial but distant. Location is pretty but again mainly for golfers. Parking is a real headache as large parts seem reserved for the gold club members.

And the spa employee Coralie , jus...

A server finally arrived after around 10 mn to take our order, he was not very corteous and in a hurry, the ordered water never arrived. It’s a pity as the food is excellent and surroundings beautiful. All the rest of the personal was friendly and very nice. It seems that we were unl...

My room was of 1 to 2 star quality, not the 4 stars indicated. Although clean, it was shabby and worn out. I also was very disappointed with the Head chef, as this hotel is miles from any othe restaurants, and they closed the restaurant one evening, without informing guests, in order to accommodate a large group. I spoke with the Chef, and he refused any assistance. I had to walk miles in the rain...
