  • Service: The staff's exceptional hospitality, friendliness, and willingness to go "above and beyond" are recurring themes in guest feedback.
  • Location: The hotel's prime location in El Poblado is frequently cited as a major advantage, offering a quiet and safe environment while being a short walk to popular areas like Provenza, Lleras Park, and various restaurants and bars.
  • Design & Ambiance: The hotel's elegant and cozy design, featuring terracotta-tiled floors, white wood-beamed ceilings, lush courtyard gardens, and thoughtful details crafted by Colombian artists and artisans, creates a light-filled, "treehouse-like" atmosphere. Its commitment to sustainable tourism and local culture is also highly appreciated.
  • Amenities: Features like the verdant gardens, reflecting pool with hammocks, and the on-site café are often mentioned as contributing to a relaxing stay.

3. Room Quality

The 19-20 rooms at Hotel Quinta Ladera are consistently described as super comfortable, spacious, and very clean. Each room is designed with natural light in mind and features harmonious décor by Colombian artisans. Highlights include tangerine or olive green accent walls, potted plants, and modern bathrooms stocked with organic products and artisan-made towels. Some rooms offer French doors opening onto private, tree-shaded patios, with select options even including luxurious stone tubs. While some rooms do not have air conditioning, they are equipped with ceiling fans and designed with high ceilings and cool floors to maintain a comfortable temperature. Allergy-friendly rooms are also available.

4. Dining Experience

The hotel's all-day café and restaurant, Ganso & Castor, offers a delightful dining experience with a French flair, alongside traditional Colombian dishes. Located at 32-190 Cl 5g in El Poblado, Hotel Quinta Ladera enjoys a "GREAT location". It's lauded for being a peaceful haven tucked away from busy city streets, yet conveniently close to major attractions. Many guests feel the unique experience, exceptional service, and beautiful surroundings justify the cost, deeming it a "5 stars in every way" charming hotel.

8. Common Complaints

While overwhelmingly positive, some minor criticisms have been noted:

  • Shower Temperature: A few guests mentioned difficulty controlling the hot and cold water in the shower.
  • Towels: One review mentioned towels not feeling or smelling fresh, though the hotel clarifies they use handmade Colombian artisan towels and can provide traditional ones upon request.
  • Staff English Proficiency: Some guests noted that while the staff are incredibly kind and helpful, some may be "inexperienced" and "don't speak English well," which could lead to minor confusions.
  • Breakfast Variety: One guest suggested that the breakfast could offer more variety.
  • Noise and Lack of AC: While generally quiet, one reviewer noted the lack of air conditioning, although the hotel emphasizes its sustainable design with ceiling fans, high ceilings, and cool floors for comfort.
  • Isolated Negative Experience: A single severe complaint mentioned damp rooms, cold showers, and bedbugs. However, the property thoroughly investigated and denied these claims, suggesting any bedbugs were acquired elsewhere. This appears to be an isolated incident, contradicting the vast majority of positive cleanliness reviews.

I had a lovely 5-day stay here. The physical hotel itself is well designed and tastefully decorated, and the garden is beautiful, giving the feeling of being immersed in a jungle-like setting. It’s a very peaceful place overall. The outdoor ofuro (hot and cold tubs) experience was the highlight of the hotel for me. It’s perfect for recovery, relaxation, and truly winding down after a long day. Fro...

Hotel Quinta Ladera is a visually charming boutique property, and the common areas are lovely. However, our room experience unfortunately didn’t meet the expectations for a 4-star stay. We booked two rooms with two double beds each. Despite the clear capacity for four guests, the hotel only allows three per room and charged an additional $40 USD per night for a fourth guest. Given the other issue...

If you’re coming from the US please be aware this hotel has no AC. I’ve been to many “eco” hotels back home and not a single took it to this level. They should advertise that clearly on the website. The rooms feel muggy as there is no ventilation. The sheets and towel STINK, they smell like dirty laundry and the towel quality resembles a kitchen rag or blanket. Eco is great but when you charge $20...

I cannot take credit for discovering this adorable boutique hotel as my wife found it, but it's now my go-to in Medellin. Close enough to walk to the center of El Poblado but removed sufficiently, you feel like you are in a tropical oasis with a canopy of trees, beautiful birds, and exceptional service. The hotel is tiny, has about 20 rooms, and is divided between two white limestone vintage-styl...

Really nice place! I’d give it 4.5 stars if I could. I do recommend it. There’s so much to like: 1) cute building and grounds 2) friendly, relaxed, helpful service 3) My room #20 was spacious, clean, and lovely 4) The adjoining cafe-restaurant is comfortable and offers polite service and tasty dishes 5) The hotel is located a mere 1-minute walk from the edge of the Provenza commercial zone, yet is...
