2. Key Highlights
Guests are particularly captivated by the hotel's distinctive design and architecture, crafted by the Bjarke Ingels Group. The zig-zagging structure is inspired by watchmaking and the surrounding Risoud Forest, avoiding literal depictions while creating a harmonious blend with the natural landscape. Its commitment to sustainability is also a significant highlight, with eco-responsible practices woven into its operations, including an entirely biodegradable structure designed to blend back into its surroundings, and sourcing local spring water. The stunning views of the Vallée de Joux and Risoud Forest from every room are consistently lauded. The professional and friendly staff and the excellent culinary offerings are also frequently mentioned as key strengths. The on-site Alpeor spa and wellness facilities add to the luxurious experience.
3. Room Quality
The 50 rooms and suites are described as handsome, light-filled, and designed to the highest standards of eco-responsible tourism. They feature a crisp, neutral color palette with grays, whites, and light-toned woods, drawing inspiration from the nearby Risoud Forest and incorporating local stone and wood. Guests commend the comfort of the beds, often noting the fluffy duvets and pillows, contributing to a restful stay. Rooms are spacious, well-equipped, and super modern, offering contemporary amenities such as air conditioning, flat-screen TVs, minibars, Nespresso machines with eco-friendly capsules, and Swiss-made Alpeor bath products. Crucially, all rooms boast sweeping, far-ranging views across the Vallée de Joux towards the towering pine trees of the Risoud Forest.
4. Dining Experience
Hôtel des Horlogers offers a remarkable dining experience, overseen by award-winning, three-Michelin-starred Chef Emmanuel Renaut, who collaborates closely with Executive Chef Alessandro Cannata. The hotel features two restaurants, Brasserie Le Gogant and La Table des Horlogers, emphasizing local and seasonal produce. The breakfast buffet receives high praise, described as varied and plentiful, including local cheeses, charcuterie, fresh fruits from the hotel's organic garden, and green smoothies. The hotel also caters to various dietary needs, offering vegetarian, dairy-free, and vegan options. The bar is stocked entirely with Swiss spirits, including a signature "Kir Sapin" cocktail made with syrup distilled from local fir tree buds.

8. Common Complaints
While the reviews are overwhelmingly positive, one recurring criticism noted by a guest pertained to the dining experience at dinner, where some found the portions meager and insipid for the price. This particular review also expressed dissatisfaction with a low credit offered for a pre-paid lunch that was not consumed. However, such detailed negative feedback appears to be an outlier in the general body of highly favorable reviews.

Traveling all the way from Kazakhstan and choosing to stay at Hôtel des Horlogers was truly an exceptional decision. Staying at Hotel des Horlogers felt like a true escape from everyday life. I love the large windows that open onto the surrounding nature, it’s the kind of place where you can just sit by the window with a cup of coffee and let the world slow down for a while. I had the chance to experience the spa, and it was one of the most rejuvenating moments of my stay. After spending time in the sauna and e...

The hotel is 5 stars in every respect, including architecture/style, concept, staff, cleanliness, etc. We felt very comfortable there. The restaurant is good, but in my opinion not quite on par with the hotel. In addition, I got a really bad piece of meat (quality (tendons) rather than preparation), but no one was interested in that, and my complaint went basically unanswered. In total I would be...

One of my absolute favourite places to reset. Exceptional service, a beautiful spa and gym, and a phenomenal restaurant. The Vallée de Joux has a unique calm — deeply rooted in nature and Swiss watchmaking heritage — and the hotel reflects this perfectly. I always come here when I need a pause from a busy business schedule. A place where time truly slows down. Service is 10/10.

Absolutely brilliant and stunning views. Tom and his team were excellent. The SPA was small but decent. The food was delicious with fair pricing. The quality of service was as good as a fine dinning establishment. The salad is a must try as the ingredients came from their own garden. Its amazing that they highlight the local ingredients and support local artisans. A perfect weekend gateway.
