2. Key Highlights
Guests consistently laud the hotel's prime location, its distinctive English townhouse-style decor, and the genuine hospitality of its staff. The hotel offers a cozy and quaint atmosphere, balancing refinement with a relaxed feel. Its cleanliness and overall charm are also frequently mentioned as key attractions.
3. Room Quality
The 25 rooms and 3 suites at Townhouse Boutique Hotel are thoughtfully designed in a fresh English style, featuring vibrant vintage-inspired Designers Guild wallpaper and elegant hardwood furniture. Comfort is a priority, with high-quality Sleepeezee beds ensuring a restful sleep. In-room amenities include a 32-inch LCD TV, DVD player with a selection of free DVDs, and an iPod docking station. Bathrooms are stocked with high-end Molton Brown toiletries. While some rooms are described as "tiny," they are generally considered sufficient for short stays and are often noted for their cleanliness and inviting design. Rooms typically face either a traffic-free side street or a quiet courtyard, contributing to a peaceful environment. Some rooms, particularly the Deluxe and Junior Suites, offer more spacious accommodations, with Junior Suites sometimes including a dining table, sofa with a pull-out bed, or even a small kitchen. It's important to note that the hotel does not have air conditioning, but provides fans during summer.
4. Dining Experience
The hotel's on-site establishment, Palette restaurant, offers a delightful culinary experience throughout the day. Breakfast, which can be enjoyed as a sumptuous buffet or a la carte, is available daily and is sometimes offered at a discounted rate if booked with the room. Lunches and dinners feature a broadly Mediterranean cuisine with a contemporary, hybrid small-plate, buffet style. In addition to the restaurant, guests can relax in a gorgeous fifth-floor lounge equipped with an honor bar and a self-serve espresso machine offering complimentary coffee and tea all day.
5. Service & Staff
The service at Townhouse Boutique Hotel is consistently highlighted as a major strength. Guests frequently praise the staff for being friendly, helpful, and attentive, providing "top-notch service" and a "wonderful welcome". Many reviews mention personalized service and a staff willing to assist with local recommendations and itinerary planning.
6. Location & Accessibility
The hotel boasts an exceptional and highly convenient location in the heart of Zurich's Old Town, just around the corner from the upscale Bahnhofstrasse and a mere two-minute walk from Zurich HB Main Station. This central position offers easy access to high-end shopping, numerous restaurants, and various public transport options. Zurich Airport is readily accessible via a direct 15-minute train link from the main station. Popular attractions like the Swiss National Museum, Grossmünster, Lindenhofplatz, Niederdorf, St. Peterskirche, and Paradeplatz are all within walking distance, making it an ideal base for exploring the city.
7. Value & Pricing
Townhouse Boutique Hotel is generally considered to offer "exceptional value for money" and a "premium experience at an affordable price" in Zurich, a city known for its high costs. While the average room price is around $296-$301 per night, which is slightly above Zurich's average of $263, guests feel it is well worth the cost given the quality and prime location. Deals can sometimes be found starting from approximately $176 per night.
8. Common Complaints
While generally very positive, some recurring comments include rooms being "small" for certain travelers. One guest reported being woken by outside noise at 7:30 AM due to a lack of soundproofing. Additionally, the absence of air conditioning, with fans provided during summer, might be a consideration for some visitors. One older review mentioned a "very dirty" carpet, suggesting the hotel was "too old," although most recent reviews praise cleanliness.

Shower handle does not work, floors are soiled. Towels were clean. No phone to communicate with the reception. Tv channels are not connected, blueray movies were available at the reception. Gentleman at the reception is polite. Very small, old fashion elevator.

Review for Townhouse Boutique Hotel, Zurich I recently stayed at Townhouse Boutique Hotel and overall had a pleasant experience. The room was clean and comfortable, the staff were exceptionally courteous and helpful, and the service was truly impeccable. The hotel’s location is also unbeatable—just a 2-minute walk from Zürich HB, making it incredibly convenient for travelers. That said, given th...

Great location. However dusty rooms with no A/C and a noisy fan. Service is okay, hit or miss to find someone at the front desk if you have questions. Would not recommend this place if comfort is your priority. Great for location.

My experience with Townhouse Boutique Hotel Zurich was absolutely disappointing. Ten days after my departure, they charged my credit card without authorisation for the cost of hotel breakfasts that didn’t even belong to me — they were for separate rooms of other people within our traveling group whom checked in a day earlier. This experience was utterly pathetic and shows the sheer lack of princi...

Thank you for the upgrade to the roof top room with a view and balcony - A very comfortable quiet night and right in the heart of the city close to the HBF station. The manager was most helpful and the room was a pleasant temperature with control of the air con. Alles ist gut danke feldmaus!

The eclectic furnishings, common areas, and even the bar and front desk are the most unique combination I’ve ever seen. The staff is excellent. However, the room we had had a closet of a bathroom. I wo...
