3. Room Quality

The rooms at Grande Colonial La Jolla are generally described as beautiful, clean, and comfortable. While some standard rooms may be considered a "tad small for the price," suites are noted for being very spacious, featuring large bathrooms and ample towel supplies. The decor is a blend of classic and contemporary European-inspired styles, often with gold and green accents. Rooms are well-equipped with modern amenities such as flat-screen TVs with casting service, free Wi-Fi, iPod docks, Keurig coffee makers, mini-refrigerators, and in-room safes. 8. Common Complaints

Certain rooms are perceived as being "a tad small for the price" or "a little tired looking" in terms of decor, particularly in older sections. Noise can occasionally be an issue, with reports of loud banging in the mornings near service areas or outside noise due to thin windows. The outdoor pool, while heated, is sometimes described as small and feeling a bit "cramped by surrounding buildings." Additionally, valet parking is the only on-site option and comes with a fee.

I have been staying at the Grande Colonial for about 12 years. It is always a treat to stay there again. The rooms are always very clean, comfortable, and well maintained. It has a great location just a couple of blocks from the ocean and many good restaurants. The staff are all customer focused. I always feel relaxed and well cared for there.

Staying here is an absolute treat! Amazing location in La Jolla with great views and an Oceanside walk just a couple steps away! Very friendly staff! Excellent food options available at the restaurant. Wonderful pool area inside the hotel area so it feels very cozy and removed from the activity of the town. If you’re looking for a mediocre hotel in a great location, this is the one. The front desk staff was unfriendly and not accommodating. The general manager, Kim Avant, will take care of you luckily, but I would still suggest having low expectations when booking an ocean view “Grande Ocean View” room. Don’t expect a spectacular view as the hotel is a bit set back, and while photos may show multiple...

Customer service is not great. Certainly not a 4 star place. They say no…to most everything!!! If you want to be a luxury hotel… act like one. No basic customer service. Very disappointing! The things they advertise in the in room book are not available and no one seems to know the correct information. As in… no turn down service as advertised and no access to the Loft, as advertised. I never post...

Total perfection! If you’re looking for the best beach access and a team that genuinely cares about your stay, this is it. The rooms are cozy, the beds are incredibly comfortable, and you’re just a stone's throw from the water. 10/10 experience... highly recommend
