Guests frequently describe their stays as unforgettable and charming, with high scores across various platforms for staff (often a perfect 10), cleanliness (9.8), and location (9.6). Its selection as a Michelin Key property further underscores its high quality and distinctiveness.
2. Key Highlights
Guests are particularly enchanted by the hotel's distinctive design, which masterfully blends clean contemporary lines with natural materials and elements of Mexican artistry, creating a sophisticated yet relaxed atmosphere. Its prime beachfront location, offering direct access to a three-mile stretch of unspoiled beach and stunning sea views, is a major draw. The intimacy of having only ten rooms contributes to a personalized and serene experience. Other highlights include a swimming pool with a view, an excellent on-site restaurant, and a laid-back ambiance complemented by good music and handcrafted cocktails.
3. Room Quality
The rooms at Lo Sereno Casa de Playa are described as simple but complete, never ostentatious, yet more than comfortable. Each room boasts a private terrace or balcony, and features spa-like bathrooms. Amenities include air-conditioning, a work desk, dressing room, and free toiletries. The design incorporates simple, minimalist materials, with handcrafted pieces from regions like Guadalajara adding a contemporary local aesthetic. Bathrooms are minimalistic, utilizing glass, concrete, and wood. While some older reviews mention the absence of TVs or telephones in rooms, a strong Wi-Fi signal is consistently available. Notably, some units also feature outdoor showers.
4. Dining Experience
The on-site restaurant, "La Terraza," is highly regarded, serving brunch, lunch, and dinner under a driftwood pergola adjacent to the pool, all while offering ocean views. The diverse menu celebrates local flavors and fresh ingredients, offering traditional Mexican cuisine and innovative seafood creations. Popular dishes include excellent huevos rancheros, fish tacos, and shrimp aguachile. American and à la carte breakfasts are available, with the option for in-room dining. The bar serves a range of cocktails, enhancing the relaxed vibe. One older critique suggested the dinner menu, particularly Italian-esque pastas, could be improved, though lunch menu items like tacos were often available upon request for dinner.

6. Location & Accessibility
The hotel is situated in Troncones, a quiet seaside village approximately 30 minutes north of Zihuatanejo, nestled between the Sierra Madre mountains and the Pacific Ocean. Its beachfront location offers direct access to a long, unspoiled beach known for surfing. While secluded, it is not isolated, with charming local restaurants and cafes within walking distance. Free private parking is available on-site, and the hotel is about 26.4 miles from Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo International Airport.

Lo Sereno is a beautifully designed boutique hotel that blends effortless beach energy with a refined, almost playful edge. Think relaxed coastal vibes elevated with details like a disco ball hanging over the pool. It feels intimate, stylish, and thoughtfully curated without trying too hard. I was in Troncones during a week when they were hosting a retreat, so the property was quite busy. Even so...

Tremendously sexy and chic hotel on Trocones Beach. Awesome chill vibe, good food and drink at reasonable prices. Great service and staff here. Tranquillo is the name of the game here listening to the waves pound in on the shore with some sun and cold beer.

Absolute nightmare to deal with. We inquired regarding flexibility on cancellation policy as I had a potential work trip conflicting with our stay. They misunderstood us and cancelled our trip unilaterally AND charged us the full amount of our stay. They then refused to take accountability for their mistake and I'm now caught up in a 3+ month battle with them and amex to get the charges removed....

What a relaxing and beautiful beach to stay on. The hotel was clean with comfy beds and good AC in the rooms. It could be loud from the neighbors as the balcony doors don’t shut completely. The food was good. I only had one meal that wasn’t great. The service is a bit slow but you just prepare for that ahead of time. The Beach dinner was amazing with the gorgeous sunsets. The front desk staff are...

Stayed here for 4 nights in early February and had a great experience! The hotel was clean with great design. Loved the bathrooms. The shower was covered but open to the outdoors. The food was good, service very good. The beach was beautiful! It was never crowded and had very chill vibes.

My wife and I spend 6 days (at first 3 days - and then we decided to stay 3 more days...) Our time at Lo Sereno was absolutely amazing. The location, the architecture, the room, the beach, the people, the food : an incredible mix of quality, calm, peacefulness, and relaxation... I never spend time to write reviews as my wife and I do travel a lot, but this time I just felt we had too. The staff w...
