Expert Review: Treehouse Hotel London

The Treehouse Hotel London, a Michelin Key Selected property, offers a unique and playful retreat in the heart of the city, frequently lauded for its distinctive design, exceptional service, and prime location. Guests generally express high satisfaction, making it a popular choice for those seeking a memorable and unconventional stay.

1. Overall Rating & Sentiment

The Treehouse Hotel London consistently receives high praise, with an impressive average rating of 8.7 on Agoda and 8.6 "Excellent" on Booking.com. It is often described as a "hidden gem" and a "quirky" or "eco-friendly oasis" in the bustling capital. The general sentiment is overwhelmingly positive, with guests frequently highlighting its location, captivating views, and attentive staff.

2. Key Highlights

Guests particularly love the hotel's distinctive design, which embraces a nature-inspired, "treehouse theme" with playful touches like stuffed Paddington bears, well-thumbed books, and even cuckoo clocks. The hotel maintains a strong focus on sustainability, evidenced by the absence of plastic in rooms and the provision of water fountains on each floor. The rooftop bar, The Nest, is a standout feature, offering 360-degree panoramic views of London and a vibrant atmosphere for drinks and light fare. The central location is another major highlight, placing guests within easy reach of major attractions and transport links.

3. Room Quality

The rooms at Treehouse Hotel London are meticulously designed with a modern and chic aesthetic, often featuring breathtaking city skyline views. While some rooms are described as compact, they are well-designed to maximize space. The interiors incorporate natural elements like wood, sleek birch ply, and living greenery, with some bathrooms even featuring birch tree trunks. Beds are frequently praised for their comfort, with some guests calling them "decadently comfortable" and contributing to a great night's sleep. Amenities include en-suite bathrooms with rainfall showers, Nespresso machines, flat-screen TVs, minibars, and wardrobes. Unique features such as large soaking bathtubs with city views are found in some suites. Thoughtful touches like window nooks with seating are popular for enjoying the views. However, some guests have noted the exposed concrete ceilings as a deliberate style choice that sometimes detracts from a cozy feel, and a few have found the beds too soft.

4. Dining Experience

The hotel boasts several popular dining options. Madera, located on the 15th floor, is an upscale Mexican restaurant open for breakfast, brunch, lunch, and dinner, receiving accolades for its "exceptional cuisine, flavors, and service" and "divine" breakfast offerings, including vegan options. Guests consistently enjoy the great views from Madera. The Nest, the hotel's rooftop bar, offers a lively atmosphere and high-end cocktails with spectacular 360-degree views of London. There is also Pizzeria Mozza, known for its friendly staff and delicious, locally sourced ingredients. For a casual start to the day, Backyard is a ground-level coffee shop offering a selection of coffees, teas, and pastries. Breakfasts are generally well-regarded, with diverse options available. Room service is also provided.

5. Service & Staff

The service at Treehouse Hotel London consistently receives high marks. Staff are frequently described as "friendly," "professional," "helpful," "welcoming," and going "above and beyond" to ensure a pleasant stay. Guests appreciate the staff's attentiveness and quick response to requests. The check-in process is often highlighted as a positive experience, with cheerful staff providing comprehensive information and complimentary treats.

6. Location & Accessibility

The hotel's location is a significant draw, situated in a prime central London spot in Marylebone/Bloomsbury, directly across from the BBC Broadcasting House headquarters and just a stone's throw from major shopping districts like Oxford Street and Regent Street. It's considered "perfect" for exploring the city. Accessibility is excellent, with numerous public transport stations within a short walk, including Oxford Circus Underground Station (2-5 minutes) and Euston Square Tube Station. While many major attractions like the British Museum and Regent's Park are within walking distance, guests on a first-time trip focused on distant iconic landmarks like the Tower of London might find some areas a longer journey.

7. Value & Pricing

The Treehouse Hotel London is generally considered a premium option. While the average price per room hovers around $512 (Agoda), compared to London's average of $260, many guests feel it offers "exceptional value for money" and is "worth every penny" for its unique experience. Room rates can vary significantly, starting from around £158 to upwards of £400+ per night depending on the room type and season. While some guests note it's a "splurge," they often conclude it's justified for the bespoke, eco-friendly luxury it provides. December and May are often cited as potentially cheaper months to visit.

8. Common Complaints

Despite overwhelmingly positive feedback, some recurring criticisms include occasional noise levels, particularly from the rooftop bar or surrounding areas, which can sometimes impact sleep quality. There have been mixed reviews regarding bed comfort, with some finding them too soft. Other minor issues reported include specific instances of a toilet not flushing, a lack of hooks in bathrooms, and an "underwhelming" exterior that doesn't fully reflect the hotel's charming interior. One guest mentioned feeling some aspects were "style over substance."

This was a good hotel. The price was reasonable for the accommodations. We had the king suite which was pleasant; had a cute window nook/seating for cozy mornings with coffee and lounging. The room was very clean and room keeping came daily. The blow dryer wasn’t working so I was brought a brand new one. Toilet paper a bit rough but does the job. The room had good space for my husband and me. The...

The room was spacious, beautiful decorated with fun accessories and very clean. The temperature control was good too. We had a gorgeous view on the city and we loved those benches to look at the sunset. Great ambiance lighting. The bed and duvet were so comfortable. I’m not a fan of the interior window between the bedroom and the shower/toilet, even if it had a curtain it’s a little weird. I did...

We stayed here for my 40th birthday. This accommodation was booked as a surprise for me. The entrance is quite unassuming, but once inside it is beautifully and thoughtfully decorated, with lots of real plants. Although the reception area is small, it smells absolutely wonderful - 4 I realise this is a strange thing to say, but they apparently have their signature scent all over the hotel. The la...

I'm owed over $200 AUD from this hotel. Physical visits back to the hotel and constant emails and phone calls over 2 months with physical evidence and nothing. Constant excuses, waiting for the next one. It's unfortunate as the hotel is in a perfect location and has a lot of potential. TL;DR - Triple check what they charge you, rooms are nice just test the aircon & don't expect to be acknowledge...

Stayed here for 2 nights, super disappointed with the service provided. We were on the 14th floor directly under the restaurant. The room was so noisy, we got woken up at 6am from loud banging above us the first night. I called reception straight away and was assured they would look into it. I didn't receive any follow up. Happened again the second night from 4.30am and we were up at 6am for our f...

I had high expectations for the Treehouse Hotel, given its excellent location — just steps away from shops, restaurants, and several of London’s key landmarks. While the property was generally clean, I did notice several overlooked areas, such as dust in the corners and surfaces that required more thorough cleaning. I had booked a room for two adults and two children; however, the room allocated ...
