Key Highlights

Guests consistently laud several aspects of The Brick Hotel:

  • Design & Atmosphere: The hotel is celebrated for its stunning architectural revival, seamlessly blending its 1888 vintage brick exterior with stylish, modern interiors. Historic touches, including 1880s era bricks and original lumber, are preserved throughout the rooms. The atmosphere is described as lively and unique.
  • Location: Its prime spot in the heart of Oceanside's compact downtown, just one block from the beach and a short walk to the pier, is a major draw. This central location offers easy access to local attractions, shops, and restaurants.
  • Amenities: The on-site dining and bar options are a significant highlight, including a popular rooftop bar (Cococabana), a lobby-level tiki bar, and a New Orleans-style restaurant (Q&A Restaurant and Oyster Bar). Free Wi-Fi is also a standard amenity.
  • Service: The attentive and helpful staff contribute greatly to the positive guest experience, with a seamless check-in process often noted.

Dining Experience

The Brick Hotel offers diverse and acclaimed dining experiences through its on-site food and beverage partners:

  • Cococabana Rooftop Bar: Located on the 2,100-square-foot rooftop, it serves Caribbean-style small bites and cocktails, and offers the same brunch menu as Q&A Restaurant and Oyster Bar. It is popular among both guests and locals for its vibrant atmosphere and stunning views of Oceanside.

While the hotel provides covered, paid off-site private parking, it is located about a block away in a parking structure, as the historic 1888 building predates vehicle accommodation.

Value & Pricing

The Brick Hotel offers good value for money, with guests rating it 8.4 out of 10 in this category. Booking directly through the Michelin Guide ensures guaranteed best prices.

Common Complaints

While largely positive, some recurring issues have been noted by guests:

  • Noise Levels: Due to the presence of popular bars on both the ground floor and the rooftop, noise from these venues and surrounding street activity can be disruptive, particularly on weekends and during holidays. The hotel acknowledges this and suggests contacting them to inquire about rooms furthest from the bars for those sensitive to noise.
  • Parking Distance: Although covered parking is available, its off-site location one block away has been mentioned as a minor inconvenience by some guests.
  • Limited Availability: Being a small boutique hotel with only ten rooms, securing a reservation, especially during peak times, can be challenging due to limited availability.

Our stay at the Brick hotel was just perfect! The room was spotless and had great amenities. Check in was seamless, and service was attentive. The hotel is unbelievably close to everything; beach, nightlife, food. The reserved parking garage was super close by. We thought price of the room was already an amazing value, but they even left us drink/coffee vouchers! We absolutely will be back/ recomm...

I'd call this a cross between hotel and ABB. Room is the size of a hotel but furnished with taste, comfort and modern. Communication is personable and the rooms where clean and very well kept. Attached to a tiki bar, restaurant and stone brewery. Get location to the beach and indoor parking 1 block away. Beach and pier is about 3 blocks away. Great stay!

Both sets of music have been pla...

Stayed at The Brick Hotel in Oceanside and really enjoyed it. The building has a cool historic vibe, the rooms are clean and modern, and the location is perfect , just a short walk to the beach, restaurants, and the pier. The rooftop bar is a great bonus too. Super convenient spot for a relaxed coastal getaway.

Since the Brick house management responded quickly and was very eager to make things right I am adjusting my review and hope our next experience will be much better. So we live locally and had dinner with our daughters down the street so we decided to walk over and check out the rooftop bar. Well we sat at the bar ordered drinks and notice the bartender was not very friendly. We got up and walked ...
