Expert Review: Soho House Paris
Soho House Paris, a Michelin Key One-Key property, has garnered a reputation as a luxurious and welcoming establishment in the heart of the French capital, offering an enchanting atmosphere that blends Parisian sophistication with the brand's signature style.
1. Overall Rating & Sentiment
Soho House Paris generally receives a "Very Good" rating, with a 4.2 out of 5 stars based on 576 Google reviews. The overall sentiment is highly positive, with guests frequently praising its luxurious ambiance, welcoming staff, and meticulous attention to detail. It's often described as a "sensory feast" and a "voyage of style and refinement".
2. Key Highlights
Guests consistently laud several aspects of Soho House Paris. The stunning and thoughtfully designed rooms, delectable food, and highly attentive staff are frequently highlighted. The historic 19th-century building itself, once the home of Jean Cocteau's family, features a charming cozy courtyard and a desirable rooftop area with a swimming pool, offering a unique blend of old-world charm and modern amenities. Other notable amenities include a cabaret space, a well-equipped gym, a Pilates studio, and a sauna, contributing to its exclusive members' club appeal. The blend of preserved historical architectural elements like intricate moldings and marble fireplaces with contemporary touches such as velvet furnishings and sleek lighting is also a key highlight.
3. Room Quality
The 36 bedrooms, including three suites, are consistently described as stunningly designed, comfortable, and chic, with each possessing its own unique personality. The design thoughtfully combines the luxury of a high-end hotel with the laid-back Soho House vibe. Rooms are often spacious and filled with natural light, featuring plush bedding, custom-designed furniture, elegant velvet curtains, hand-picked artwork, and antique mirrors that create a "home away from home" feeling. Options range from "Tiny Attic" to "Big Boudoir" rooms, with some even offering private terraces. The design draws inspiration from an English country house with an urban Parisian edge, as well as Jean Cocteau's former villa, Santo Sospir, and Art Deco styles. Thoughtful luxuries and unobtrusive modern conveniences are integral to the room experience.
4. Dining Experience
The dining experience at Soho House Paris is highly praised for its quality and taste. The main restaurant, Club Cecconi's, serves Italian staples infused with French flavors, including dishes like zucchini fritters, burrata, veal milanese, as well as French classics such as onion soup and beef tartare. The House menu also features modern takes on French dishes, inspired by the Southwest of France, alongside global member favorites and a diverse wine list. Guests commend the delicious food and find the pricing reasonable given the exclusivity of the club setting. Savory breakfast options like cheese, eggs, or omelets are available. There are multiple bars, including the main bar (with a DJ on certain nights) and a pool bar that operates seasonally, sometimes transforming into a cozy chalet in winter.
5. Service & Staff
The service and staff at Soho House Paris are frequently lauded for being attentive, friendly, and professional. Many guests appreciate that staff members are often fluent in English and go "above and beyond" to ensure an exceptional experience. However, some guest feedback notes occasional inconsistencies, such as slow service during busy periods or instances where orders were incorrect.
6. Location & Accessibility
Soho House Paris is ideally situated in the vibrant Pigalle district within the 9th arrondissement, a historically rich area known for its lively nightlife and cultural attractions. The hotel is located in a discreet 19th-century building that was once the family home of artist and poet Jean Cocteau. The neighborhood offers trendy boutiques, vibrant cafes, and art galleries, with areas like Rue des Martyrs being excellent for exploration. For transportation, the hotel is conveniently within a 20-minute walk of Gare du Nord, a major train station, making it handy for Eurostar arrivals. Both Paris' main airports, Orly and Charles de Gaulle, are approximately an hour's drive away.
7. Value & Pricing
As a private members' club and hotel, Soho House Paris operates with an exclusive model. Room rates for non-members typically begin around 440 EUR per night. Non-members wishing to stay can do so by acquiring a Soho Friends membership, which often incurs an additional €140 fee for a 12-month membership. Full Soho House membership, which grants access to all worldwide locations, ranges from €2,000 to €2,600 annually for Paris. Despite the premium pricing, many guests find the value proposition reasonable given the exclusivity, luxurious amenities, and high-quality offerings.
8. Common Complaints
While generally well-received, some recurring issues and criticisms have been noted. Guests have occasionally experienced service inconsistencies, including slow service, particularly during peak hours, and inaccuracies with food orders. There's also feedback about a specific rule closing laptops at 6 PM, which some working members find inconvenient, suggesting an extension to 7 PM. More broadly, some members of the Soho House brand have voiced concerns about overcrowding and a perceived dilution of exclusivity due to rapid global expansion, though this is a general brand-level criticism rather than specific to Paris. Employee reviews from Soho House & Co. (the parent company) also mention issues with management, high staff turnover, and feeling overworked, which could indirectly impact guest experience.

Beautiful interiors and lovely staff! I'd love to acknowledge Mamed and Laurent for their warm and kind service. We went to the house for lunch the moment we arrived to Paris, and the food and service were great. However dinner time was really hectic and they were quite understaffed. I wish i could give it more stars however as someone who is lactose intolerant, there weren't as many plant based i...

Had a fantastic stay at the House in Paris. Great service all around from the Club, Bar, Reception and Housekeeping team and special shout out to the warm welcome of Jolin. Overall the house feels very cozy and inviting to be in.

I wanted to share some feedback regarding the current rule about closing laptops at 6pm. I really believe it would make a positive difference to shift this cut-off time to 7pm. Many members, myself included, are still working at that hour and often come to the House specifically to finish emails or wrap up work. Between 6pm and 7pm the space is usually very quiet, and most people aren’t having di...

Went here for lunch while on a long weekend in Paris. Located in a nice area and has a great courtyard area for eating and relaxing. Upstairs there is a very very small plunge pool and another small seating area. Overall on the small side and the service was not great. Took ages to get served and then when it arrived it was wrong and took quite a while to fix. Menu and food pretty standard...

Everywhere you look is filled with individuals on their computers and phone or video calls, with bags around and crowding the rather narrow corridors to the bar, restrooms, and so on. The entitlement is palpable — if you just want to pass through, you’ll even get a stare. This is not regulated in any way, and on top of that, people don’t even seem to be having anything beyond water or coffee, occu...

It’s okay but the events programming is very sparse compared to other houses and the pool on the terrace is more of a footbath. They’ve changed the beds out too for chairs and tables which is a shame. I think it’s bizarre that Paris, as the world’s creative capital, has just this one house while the company continues to open huge houses in random cities that no one asked for. It gets especially no...
