The unique design of the hotel, with rooms carved from historic dwellings and palazzos, is a major draw, offering a blend of tradition and modern touches. The central and picturesque location within the Sassi is another key highlight, providing easy access to Matera's attractions. Furthermore, the attentive and friendly service from the staff is frequently commended.
3. Room Quality
The rooms at Sant'Angelo are celebrated for their individuality, luxury, and stylish design, seamlessly blending ancient structures with contemporary fixtures and comforts. Each room provides amenities such as king beds, air conditioning, free WiFi, minibars, and safes, often featuring spacious bathrooms with complimentary toiletries and bidets. While many praise the large, beautifully decorated cave suites with generous baths, some guests have noted that certain cave rooms can be dimly lit, slightly damp, or have smaller showers with weaker water pressure.
4. Dining Experience
The hotel offers excellent dining options, including Regia Corte, an elegant restaurant known for its creative dishes and sublime reinterpretations of traditional Lucanian cuisine using seasonal, local ingredients. Room was fascinating. Location was great. We have mobility issues so they arranged a tour of Matera for us in an Apecar (Tuktuk) The service was either great (picking us up at the garage) to poor (not answering the phone at check-out time, telling me after I carried my own luggage 500 feet down 20 rough stone steps that there was another desk to call, not telling us we'd have to climb 50 of stone ...

Nice hotel, staff very very friendly and helpful! Applause for the guy bringing up all our luggage! The view is gorgeous and the hotel is perfectly located. The breakfast is not much but tasted ok. Don’t think you should ask more money for dishes which can be ordered. Just include everything. Rooms were not very clean and our shower was very small and overall we couldn’t get the room to be colder....

Stayed just two days here, the views are amazing!! Matera is beautiful. The A/C was poor at best, the shower very small. Could not get a table at the restaurant, unfortunately. Breakfast was great.

The location of this hotel in Matera is fabulous; you are in the center of where the activity is happening with easy access to explore. The views from the rooms are stunning. The beds, pillows and linens are good.

Great hotel. We stayed at the residences. We were upgraded so I can’t really say what the value for money would be if we weren’t, but the room we received was fantastic. Well decorated, recently renovated, great position and view. A cute little house to ourselves. Could not have asked for more. Breakfast had a good selection, of good quality and was placed in a beautiful room. Not quite a critic...
