Expert Review: Roomers Berlin Steinplatz, Autograph Collection
Roomers Berlin Steinplatz, Autograph Collection, a Michelin One-Key property, consistently receives high praise for its unique blend of historic charm and modern luxury, making it a standout choice in Berlin's Charlottenburg district.
Overall Rating & Sentiment
The general consensus for Roomers Berlin Steinplatz is overwhelmingly positive, with an average rating of 4.8 out of 5 stars on Marriott's official site and an 8.7 "Fabulous" rating on Booking.com. Guests frequently describe their stays as "Exceptional" and "Wonderful".
Key Highlights
Guests particularly love the hotel's sophisticated design, which beautifully merges its Art Nouveau origins from 1913 with sleek, 1920s-inspired boutique aesthetics. The comfortable beds are a recurring highlight, ensuring a restful sleep. Exceptional breakfast offerings, friendly and attentive staff, and the exclusive top-floor spa and fitness center with panoramic city views are also frequently lauded. The hotel's historic ambiance and personal touches, like welcome notes and chocolates, add to its appeal.
Room Quality
The rooms are generally described as very comfortable, clean, and well-appointed, boasting a chic and stylish decor. Amenities include air conditioning, flat-screen TVs, soundproofing, refrigerators, tea/coffee makers, and Marshall Bluetooth speakers. The "deep soaking tubs" in some rooms add a touch of luxury, evoking a "French movie star" feel. Room sizes can vary, from deluxe rooms at 237 sq ft to junior suites at 388 sq ft. While many appreciate the contemporary interiors, some guests have noted that standard rooms can feel "rather small" and "very dark". Some superior rooms also offer balconies.
Dining Experience
The hotel's dining scene is anchored by Manon Brasserie Nouvelle, a French-fusion restaurant led by renowned Chef The Duc Ngo, offering a "sensory fine-dining experience" for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The breakfast, in particular, receives rave reviews, often described as "unbelievable," "excellent," and "very good," featuring high-quality organic products from the region. A lobby bar specializes in classic cocktails, some crafted with regional spirits. However, some past guests have mentioned limited buffet choices, especially regarding fruit, and occasionally slow service for à la carte breakfast items.
Service & Staff
The staff and service are widely praised, with many guests highlighting their friendliness, helpfulness, and professional approach. Marriott's satisfaction survey gives staff and service a high rating of 4.8 out of 5. Guests appreciate personalized touches, such as being acknowledged by name or receiving a birthday gift. Despite the overwhelmingly positive feedback, isolated incidents of "indifferent and unprofessional" reception staff, rude communication, incorrect room service orders, and a "messy check-out process" have been reported.
Location & Accessibility
Roomers Berlin Steinplatz boasts an excellent location in the "stylish Charlottenburg district," approximately 600 meters (1969 feet) from the famous Ku'damm boulevard. This places guests within a 5-minute walk of many shops, cafés, and theaters. The hotel is conveniently close to public transport, with Zoologischer Garten Station about 800 meters (2625 feet) away, providing great links across Berlin. Guests enjoy the "quieter tree lined side streets" surrounding the property while still being within easy reach of city attractions.
Value & Pricing
The hotel generally offers good value, reflected in an 8.2 rating for value for money on Booking.com and 4.4 out of 5 on Marriott's own site. Typical prices for a deluxe room can range from approximately $187 to $271+ per night. While many find the experience worth the cost, some guests have expressed concern over additional charges like a city tax of around €40. There were also mentions of paying regular prices during renovations when certain facilities like parking or the restaurant were unavailable without prior notification.
Common Complaints
While highly rated, some common criticisms have emerged:
- Room Size & Light: Some guests found standard rooms to be "rather small" and "very dark," with inadequate mirrors for getting ready. Curtains were also noted as not being sufficiently dark in some rooms.
- Bathroom Amenities: A recurring complaint is the initial lack of basic bathroom amenities (e.g., small toiletries, shower caps), which guests had to request.
- Breakfast Issues: While generally excellent, some found the buffet choices limited, particularly for fruit, and experienced slow service or long waits for à la carte orders.
- Service Inconsistencies: A few isolated reviews mentioned indifferent or unprofessional behavior from reception staff, rude communication, incorrect room service orders, and a chaotic check-out process.
- Renovation Impact: Guests have reported disappointment when paying full price for a stay during renovations where promised facilities like parking and the restaurant were unavailable without prior warning.

So much better than in the photographs. Excellent service throughout, from check in to check out. We had a couple of minor issues and these were dealt with effectively and immediately. Friendly people during the entire stay. A great superior king room with a comfortable bed and plenty of space. Superb location close to Ku’dam and interesting cafes.

Stylish hotel with luxury rooms. The room offers all you need with quality amenities, a filled minibar and a wide array of snacks. Large flatscreen and high quality Bluetooth speaker to connect your mobile device. Very large rain shower which unfortunately was totally congested with chalk. Air conditioning didn’t work but luckily the area was very quiet so opening the window cooled the room. Gre...

This hotel really surprised me. I didn’t expect much because of the price, but it was better than many 4-star hotels I’ve stayed at. The room was spotless, towels and sheets smelled fresh, and everything worked. The receptionist was extremely helpful and even printed some documents I needed. The best part was how close it was to everything — train station, restaurants, even a park. Highly recommen...

Visited the hotel together with our friends and we all left with a great impression. Reception, friendly and great staff. Super rooms with comfy beds (also very quite). Breakfast was great both buffet and special breakfast menu. Nice spa area. Locations is perfect near train station Zoologischer Garten. Direct trains from airport was convenient. We left the place with a smile.
