The hotel's design, which harmoniously combines a historic 13th-century building with a surprising modern extension, is a frequent point of admiration. The serene and extensive gardens, along with a charming inner courtyard, offer a peaceful ambiance. Exceptional service, comfortable and well-appointed rooms, and a fantastic breakfast are also commonly cited as reasons for a memorable stay. The on-site wellness area, featuring an indoor pool, sauna, hammam, and massage cabins, provides a perfect retreat for relaxation. Its prime location directly adjacent to the historic Alden Biesen Castle is a significant draw. Furthermore, amenities like free private parking and complimentary WiFi enhance guest convenience.

Guests appreciate the plush or comfortable bedding and the tasteful interior design, which incorporates warm, welcoming colors and luxurious materials. Standard in-room amenities include soundproofing, air conditioning, flat-screen TVs, and tea/coffee makers, along with free WiFi. Bathrooms are well-equipped with attached facilities, towels, bathtubs or showers, free toiletries, and hair dryers. Some rooms also offer picturesque garden views. The suites, located in the original Maison du Régisseur, retain many of the building's historical features.

4. Dining Experience

The hotel offers a commendable dining experience, primarily centered around its AKKO restaurant and Knight's Bar. AKKO specializes in local and international cuisine, providing both fine dining and gourmet meal options for breakfast and dinner. The Knight's Bar offers local cuisine and a cozy atmosphere, with guests praising the good service and drink recommendations.

Breakfast is a major highlight, consistently described as "super good" and "fantastic," with a broad and varied selection that includes multiple types of bread, cereals, fresh fruits, juices, bacon, and eggs. Gluten-free options are also available and well-received. While breakfast is generally well-loved, it is an additional charge, typically around EUR 23 per person.

It's worth noting that breakfast is an extra charge (around EUR 23 per person), and access to the spa typically incurs an average daily fee of EUR 15 for a one-hour session, requiring a reservation. Pets are allowed for an additional fee of EUR 20 per night.

8. Common Complaints

While overall satisfaction is very high, a few recurring minor issues have been noted by guests. The primary complaint revolves around the wellness area, where access to the indoor pool, sauna, and hammam often requires an extra fee (around €15 for one hour) and a mandatory reservation, which some guests found to be an unexpected cost or unclear during booking. The swimming pool itself is described as small, necessitating reservations.

Some guests have also experienced the breakfast buffet being crowded and messy due to limited space. There was one instance of a special request (a bottle of bubbles for a surprise) not being fulfilled in time and a perceived lack of sympathy from staff when the issue was addressed. Finally, the absence of elevators in the building might be a concern for some guests.

We found the most beautiful getaway and the nicest hotel in Belgium. We liked the hotel design, the comfortable rooms, friendly staff, qualitative breakfast. The restaurant AKKO was higher than our expectations. And we absolutely enjoyed the spa. Our stay was very calm - there is no source of noise from the outside. That was a perfect stay. We will definitely come back.

The hotel is peaceful & in a very beautiful location surrounded by orchards & next door to a castle. The room was spacious, tastefully decorated & had tea/coffee making facilities. The bathroom was also a good size. The hotel bar was great & the staff throughout the hotel friendly & helpful. Breakfast was very good & they were very generous with the gluten-free bread options. I'd definitely stay h...

Seemed great on paper, different in reality. It took me over 45 minutes to check in because there was only one receptionist despite other members of staff walking around. My first room had a disgusting smell to it, so had to be moved. Rooms were big, clean but lacking atmosphere or personality, no artwork or decorations in the room, just white paint. The restaurant was fully booked so couldn't ea...

Hotel is very cute and looks like a great combo between old and modern. But there are various issues with the hotel and its design. Hear wasn’t working in our room and they could make the user experience a little more comfortable. Great service though!

I would like to myself if I would consider this place as a worth 5 stars. First of all I have been there with a big group, so it has been organized and in my opinion people should be prepared for some number of guests. But they were not! We had dinner 3 courses, and I have to say that from the second till the end of the third plate I have been seating thirsty, no water no wine. Waiters were not a...

Beautiful interior, great room, good breakfast. Could be 5 stars if management would run it more smoothly. The bar was so busy with their event that evening that at the bar the hotel guests were ignored or to much. The sauna is a nice addition only minor their is that they need to fix the water issue. It gets really slippery fast.
