Many rooms include private terraces or balconies offering garden or forest views, allowing guests to enjoy the natural surroundings. 4. Dining Experience

The dining experience at La Vague de Saint Paul is a significant draw. The restaurant, Au Jardin de la Vague, under Chef Akhara Chay (a Maître Restaurateur and Disciple d'Escoffier who trained with renowned chefs), serves creative Mediterranean cuisine with Asian influences.

  • Restaurant Quality: Guests consistently rate the food quality highly (9.2/10 on TheFork). Many describe the dishes as delicious, exceptional, with bold tastes, and unusual flavors and visuals. The menu, while sometimes noted as short, is often considered exceptional and reasonably priced for a Michelin-rated restaurant.

  • Brunch & Terrace: The restaurant features a terrace, perfect for outdoor meals. Between May and September, a prix-fixe brunch barbecue is offered on Sundays, featuring grilled meats, fish, and local produce.

8. Common Complaints

Despite the generally positive reviews, some recurring issues and criticisms have been noted by guests:

  • Maintenance & Renovation Needs: Some guests have mentioned that the rooms and the hotel itself could benefit from renovation, suggesting it sometimes feels more like a 3-star than a 4-star establishment. Specific concerns include weeds on balconies, pine needles around the pool, and general maintenance needing improvement.
  • Noise: Noise from adjoining rooms has been reported by some guests.
  • Service Inconsistencies (Minor): While overall service is praised, isolated incidents include chaotic and slow restaurant service, incorrect wine orders, and difficulty obtaining water bottles from reception outside of restaurant hours.
  • Limited Spa Functionality: One review mentioned the spa not being fully working and a lack of basic amenities like shower caps.
  • Restaurant Menu Repetitiveness: A few guests found the main dishes to be overcooked or repetitive, and some noted a limited menu if dining multiple times within a week.
  • Remote Location (for some): While praised for its tranquility, the hotel's slightly remote and secluded location (1 km from Saint-Paul-de-Vence) was mentioned as a minor inconvenience by some.

So many problems with the room (including a large puddle of water that the hotel did not address for a whole day) that the hotel was slow to address. Food and drink options are extremely limited and even getting access to drinking water is challenging. For what the hotel aspires to be, it needs quite a few changes. Seek other options in the area.

Unfortunately I had very bad experience here. Firstly the location is super bad-middle of nowhere (I had to pay triple of the price for the taxi to drive me there) when I arrived at the hotel at 1am the receptionist was annoyed and seems very stressful that I arrived late. I came here to relax but instead I got super stress which I think is super unprofessional! The service is just very bad. After...

We only spent one night here but we will definitely return. It is tucked away in a beautiful spot in the woods behind St Paul de Vence and takes a few minutes to find. The receptionist came out of the front door to greet us, as though we were old friends. Having been travelling for 13 hours, we immediately retired to our pristine, stylish, cool and comfortable rooms. The bathrooms are immaculate...

This place is optimal for a large group renting the entire hotel. The facilities are great.and the service was excellent. Many thanks to the staff! Very happy with our stay here. I would have given five stars but I'm deducting one for the slow and unreliable WiFi, which is especially important in these hills where mobile connectivity is poor.
