1. Overall Rating & Sentiment

La Bergerie consistently garners superb reviews, with an average rating of 9.3 out of 10 based on guest feedback. Many guests express a strong desire to return, underscoring its enduring appeal.

2. Key Highlights

Guests consistently laud several aspects of La Bergerie:

  • Service & Hospitality: The personalized, friendly, and attentive service provided by the owners, Eric and Caroline, and their staff is a recurring theme in reviews.
  • Location: Its "excellent location" in the center of Morzine, just a stone's throw from the Pleney lift and close to other amenities, is a major draw for both skiers and summer visitors.
  • Family-Friendly Design & Amenities: The hotel is exceptionally well-suited for families, offering an outdoor heated swimming pool (accessible in both summer and winter), a sauna, steam room, and a dedicated children's play area with games, table tennis, and a trampoline. The hotel's design beautifully blends Alpine charm with modern comfort.
  • Drying Facilities: For ski holidays, the "super drying facilities for wet gear" are particularly appreciated by guests.

3. Room Quality

The rooms at La Bergerie are described as comfortable and modern, often featuring a traditional Alpine decor with blond wood and printed fabrics. Many accommodations offer kitchenette facilities, providing guests with flexibility for self-catering, though a fee of €30 applies for stays shorter than 7 nights. Rooms include flat-screen TVs with satellite channels, free Wi-Fi, and en-suite bathrooms. Guests can enjoy views of the surrounding landscape, and some rooms also boast balconies.

4. Dining Experience

La Bergerie offers a buffet breakfast each morning, featuring a variety of local products, homemade jams, cheeses, and charcuterie, with gluten-free options available. The breakfast is generally considered to be of a good standard for a boutique hotel. A bar is also on-site, providing drinks accompanied by "little snacks". A unique and much-loved feature for families is the "Children's Table" (Table d'hôtes), where children can dine separately from their parents, fostering a friendly and lively atmosphere. While there isn't a full-service restaurant for adult dinners, the availability of kitchenettes in most rooms and the hotel's central location allow guests to either cook for themselves or easily explore Morzine's dining options.

It is "perfectly located close to Pleney lift" (within 2 minutes walking), offering convenient access to the Portes du Soleil and Morzine-Les Gets ski areas. The hotel also provides an underground garage for parking, and public transport is easily accessible, with a bus station under 300 meters away. The Michelin Guide notes its central village location allows guests to "walk everywhere there is to go".

Breakfast is an additional cost, priced at €22 for adults (12 years and older), €12 for children aged 5 to 12, and €8 for children under 5. The option for children under 12 to stay free of charge in their parents' room adds to the value for families. Despite some additional fees for kitchenette use on shorter stays, guests generally perceive the hotel as offering good value for money, especially given its location, amenities, and service.

8. Common Complaints

While overwhelmingly positive, some minor criticisms have been noted by guests:

  • Air Conditioning: A recurring comment, particularly during summer stays, is the absence of air conditioning, which some guests found made for uncomfortable nights.
  • Pool/Spa Closing Times: Some guests felt that the pool, sauna, and steam room closing at 8:00 PM was "a bit early," limiting evening use.
  • Boot Room Capacity: During peak times, the boot room facilities were reported to be "stretched when the hotel was full".
  • Kitchenette Lighting & Supplies: One guest mentioned a lack of sufficient light over the kitchenette. Another noted the absence of milk for the coffee machine in the rooms.

Highly recommended! We had an amazing stay over Christmas. The atmosphere was brilliant. Very family friendly. Nat - the hotel’s ski instructor was superb!! Our son learned to ski in 4 days and he was able to do an easy blue run all by himself. Thank you so much Caroline and Eric!!

This hotel is an absolute gem! We were on a short break in Morzine and managed to upgrade to this hotel from a poorly chosen Air BnB. Thank God they had availability. We were greated in reception by a lovely gentleman who talked us through our stay, what to expect, where to eat. Very helpful and polite. He took us tou our room, Pleney, which looked up onto Pleney. The room itself was perfect. W...

We have just returned from our second stay at Hotel La Bergerie and we can highly recommend it. The location is absolutely brilliant - next door to a ski rental shop (which offers a discount to Bergerie guests); super close to the Pleney lift, as well as transport to Super Morzine / Avoriaz; and right in the centre of Morzine so you can walk to the restaurants and shops in moments. Our room was pe...

My husband and I stayed for a week and it was fabulous! The hotel is beautifully decorated, with every detail thought of and plenty of character. Our room was more spacious than I expected, very comfortable and spotlessly clean. We loved having the use of the kitchenette in our room, the balcony was perfect and the pool fantastic. We were close to lots of great restaurants as well as to a handy s...

I have stayed at some the best hotels in the world. This place sits amongst the best. Defined by its service, there a limited amount of places like this in the world that put so much care into their guests. Don’t look anywhere else, this is the best hotel in Morzine.

First stay in this hotel. I highly recommend it for many reasons: 1) fantastic location in the heart of Morzine, everything is reachable without a car, 2) the room in which we stayed was designed for families, spacious, separated area for parents, small kitchen inside, and what a view from the balcony! 3) big territory which includes outdoor pool and kids area, and the best part of the stay: 4) th...
