This Virgin Limited Edition property, acquired by Sir Richard Branson, is celebrated for its "unplugged luxury" and deep connection to Moroccan culture.

Overall Rating & Sentiment

The general consensus for Kasbah Tamadot is overwhelmingly positive, with guests frequently describing it as "paradise on earth" and a "once in a lifetime magical stay." It is regarded as one of the world's most remarkable hotels, offering an exceptional and memorable experience. Reviewers consistently highlight the stunning setting, impeccable service, and a pervasive sense of tranquility.

Key Highlights

Guests are particularly enchanted by the hotel's breathtaking atmosphere, stunning decor, and the meticulously maintained facilities. The location, offering spectacular views of the Atlas Mountains and Mount Toubkal, is a significant draw. Key amenities include beautiful indoor and outdoor infinity pools, a spa, tennis courts, a gym, and complimentary Wi-Fi. Unique touches such as complimentary Berber slippers and distinctive nightly turndown gifts further enhance the guest experience. The hotel is also praised for its commitment to the local community, employing local staff, and offering initiatives like free English lessons.

Room Quality

Kasbah Tamadot features a collection of 27 to 42 individually designed rooms, suites, and luxury Berber tents. Each accommodation is richly decorated with Moroccan antiques, vibrant textiles, and intricate details, reflecting the region's cultural heritage. Guests appreciate the comfort and design, often noting the generous mini-bar offerings. Many rooms come with private balconies or terraces, providing serene views of the gardens, pools, or mountains. For an elevated experience, several Berber tents boast private hot tubs or plunge pools, while the Master Suite offers a large private terrace and pool.

Dining Experience

The dining experience at Kasbah Tamadot is consistently rated as superb. Kanoun Restaurant serves a sophisticated blend of Moroccan, African, and international cuisine, emphasizing fresh, seasonal ingredients, many of which are sourced from the hotel's organic garden. Breakfast is a highlight, with options ranging from Moroccan pancakes, breakfast tagine, and porridge to freshly baked goods, juices, and fruits, available in the restaurant or on private terraces. Dinners at the tented Asayss restaurant are described as a "nightly celebration," featuring standout Moroccan specialties like seafood pastillas and traditional tagines. Guests can also enjoy flexible dining options, including al fresco meals by the infinity pool, on the rooftop terrace under the stars, or private dinners in their Berber tents. Interactive cooking lessons with the chefs are also a popular activity.

Many personal anecdotes highlight staff members going above and beyond to ensure a memorable stay.

Location & Accessibility

Kasbah Tamadot is magnificently situated in the High Atlas Mountains, near the village of Asni, approximately a 45-minute to 1 hour and 10-minute drive from Marrakech Menara Airport (RAK). This remote setting provides a tranquil escape with stunning panoramic mountain views. While offering a true retreat experience, the hotel also facilitates various activities such as hiking, mule trekking, mountain biking, golf excursions, and visits to the nearby Eve Branson Foundation, which supports local communities. The resort's extensive amenities often mean guests feel little need to venture off-property.

Value & Pricing

As a Three Michelin Keys property and a Virgin Limited Edition resort, Kasbah Tamadot operates at the higher end of the luxury market. Rates typically start from around $835 per night in the low season, with average nightly prices ranging from $871 for weekends to $1,283 for weeknights. Prices can vary significantly, with high season (October) being the most expensive and December offering the lowest rates. Despite the considerable cost, many guests deem the experience to be of excellent value, often describing it as a truly worthwhile investment for a "magical stay."

Common Complaints

While guest feedback is overwhelmingly positive, some minor criticisms have been noted. These include occasional reports of longer-than-expected wait times during check-in and some billing discrepancies at checkout. Due to the hotel's secluded location, some reviewers recommend opting for the full board supplement to ensure all dining needs are covered on-site. There was also a past mention of a limited spa offering and the temporary closure of the hammam room, requiring pre-booking for treatments.

We had the most incredible time. It’s truly such a unique, wholesome place. The most friendly and accommodating staff. Richard really created something so authentic and special here. The nearby mountains are great for a trail run, they have a tennis court and a great spa. Only the gym could use some more heavy weights. We loved it and can’t wait to come back ❤️

We had a wonderful stay at Kasbah Tamadot. After a night in a Marrakech riad, the hotel’s driver collected us easily, navigating the very busy medina effortlessly. He spoke four languages and shared stories on the scenic drive into the Atlas Mountains, pausing for coffee and a viewpoint at our request. We were welcomed with drinks and a brief tour before being shown to our private riad, beautiful...
