Guests frequently highlight its unique blend of urban chic and natural beauty, making it a standout choice in the upscale Leblon neighborhood.

1. Overall Rating & Sentiment

The overall sentiment for JANEIRO Hotel is overwhelmingly positive, with guests frequently describing it as "Fabulous," "Amazing," and "Perfect." Many laud its "gorgeous, stylish" atmosphere and the sense of design and taste evident throughout the property. While some guests consider it expensive, the general consensus points to a highly satisfying and luxurious experience.

2. Key Highlights

Guests consistently love the JANEIRO Hotel for several key features:

  • Location: Its absolute beachfront position in Leblon is a major draw, offering direct access to the sand and stunning ocean views.
  • Rooftop Pool & Bar: The top-floor pool and bar are frequently mentioned as highlights, offering panoramic views that encompass Christ the Redeemer, Two Brothers mountain, and Ipanema Beach. This area is often described as "stunning" and "the cherry on top."
  • Design & Aesthetic: The hotel's interior, crafted by entrepreneur Oskar Metsavaht, showcases minimalist design with natural materials, sustainably sourced Brazilian timber, and tasteful artwork, creating a calm and inviting atmosphere.
  • Service: The friendly, professional, and helpful staff receive consistent accolades, contributing significantly to a memorable stay.
  • Beach Service: The included beach service, offering comfortable amenities, is a valued perk for guests.

3. Room Quality

JANEIRO Hotel offers 51 apartments, all featuring sea views and a sense of spaciousness. The rooms are characterized by a clean, minimalist design with thoughtful details. They are equipped with wooden furniture made from sustainable Freijó, Nespresso machines, and Harman Kardon speaker docks. Guests appreciate the comfortable beds, linens, and pillows. Bathrooms are designed to double as dressing rooms, with neatly wood-slatted wardrobes. However, some guests have commented that the rooms can feel "a bit small" for the premium price.

4. Dining Experience

The hotel's main restaurant, located on the first floor, provides beachfront dining with a focus on seafood and regional Brazilian favorites, such as char-grilled octopus and shrimp. The rooftop bar/café also offers a fantastic food selection. A full breakfast is available, though it incurs an additional fee (approximately BRL 180.80 per person). While the food served is generally well-received and described as "very nice," one guest noted issues with the availability of certain menu items, like salmon, during their stay.

Leblon is recognized as an upscale, sophisticated neighborhood, offering a wealth of shopping and dining options, including excellent restaurants and bars within walking distance. Accessibility to other Rio attractions is convenient, with Antero de Quental Station just a 4-5 minute walk away, and General Osório, a major metro and bus hub, also within walking distance. This allows for easy exploration of Ipanema Beach, Copacabana Beach, Christ the Redeemer, and Sugarloaf Mountain.

7. Value & Pricing

JANEIRO Hotel is positioned as a luxury property, and its pricing reflects this. Guests often describe it as "expensive" or "premium rate." Typical room prices can range significantly based on season and day of the week, with average weeknight prices around $556 and weekend nights averaging $764. Agoda lists an average room price of $438, noting it as exceptional value compared to the city's average of $137, suggesting a premium offering. Full breakfast is an additional cost.

  • Service Follow-Through & Amenities: One guest reported issues with staff not following through on requests and a lack of hot water during the initial days of their stay.

Janeiro Hotel is a spectacular property that sets a new benchmark for luxury hospitality in the city. The architecture, art integration, and overall design are stunning, and the rooms are impeccably detailed, elegant, and comfortable. Every space feels intentional and elevated. What truly made my stay exceptional was the concierge service, especially Thayan. His level of professionalism, care, an...

Loved our stay at Janeiro Hotel. The hotel is located in a great area and the decor is just beautiful with so much attention to detail. Breakfast was great with a lot of healthy options. It is a bit pricey for what it offers (rooms are quite small, no gym and the pool is tiny) but we would definitely recommend it.

I’ve only had breakfast here and gone to the spa. The breakfast is world class. A welcome break from the usual extremely tasty and yet very unhealthy breakfasts of Rio. There is an array of vegan options, warm savoury dishes and the full spectrum of Brazilian fresh and cooked food. Some of the best fruit, fresh coconut water and excellent coffee. The spa is small and simpler than some of the big 5...

This hotel is in a perfect beachfront location in LeBlon, close to shopping and restaurants in a walkable area. Simple luxury is what they do very well. Rooms are minimalist in design but well thought-out. They bring their guests in touch with a real Rio "carioca" lifestyle with natural light in all their spaces and easy access to the beach and boardwalk. Easy breezy simple luxury!

This is a fantastic hotel. The staff was really accommodating and sweet, the breakfast is amazing and the rooftop is incredible. We looked at both the ocean view room and the partial ocean view room and ended up actually preferring the partial ocean view room even if it was smaller, as it felt a lot cozier. The whatsapp room service was very smooth and an easy way to chat with the staff.

Response from the owner

Really nice hotel. Great location and an intimate feel. Ocean front rooms are beautiful with a fabulous view. Open plan bath and shower a little weird and only one sink is a pain but otherwise it's a really great place to stay. Food good too.

Response from the owner
