Expert Review: Hotel Eclat Taipei

Hotel Eclat Taipei presents itself as a luxurious boutique hotel nestled in Taipei's fashionable Da-an District, offering a unique blend of art and comfort. While it is featured within the Michelin Guide's selection of hotels, it's important to note that the most recent announcements for Michelin Key recipients in Taiwan (October 2025) list Capella Taipei, Kimpton Da An Taipei, and Mandarin Oriental Taipei, but not Hotel Eclat Taipei itself as a Michelin Key property.

Here's a comprehensive review of Hotel Eclat Taipei based on various guest experiences:

1. Overall Rating & Sentiment

Hotel Eclat Taipei generally garners positive feedback, with an impressive overall rating of 8.5 out of 10 from over 1,600 reviews. Guests frequently describe it as a luxurious haven offering comfort and opulence. The sentiment is largely excellent, with many guests highly recommending it and expressing a desire to return.

2. Key Highlights

Guests consistently praise the hotel's unique artistic decor, outstanding service, and comfortable rooms. The hotel's intimate, boutique feel and its eclectic collection of contemporary art, including pieces by Salvador Dali and Andy Warhol, are frequently highlighted as major attractions. The complimentary minibar with non-alcoholic beverages is also a much-loved amenity.

3. Room Quality

The 60 luxuriously appointed guest rooms at Hotel Eclat Taipei are described as clean, comfortable, and stylishly designed with a contemporary touch. Rooms often feature interesting, modern furniture and large paintings above the beds. Amenities include a flat-screen TV, a Bang & Olufsen audio system, Nespresso coffee machines, and Mont Blanc stationery sets. Beds are noted for being exceptionally comfortable, ensuring a good night's sleep. Bathrooms are well-equipped with rain showers, electronic toilets, and quality toiletries, with some rooms boasting marble finishes. Some rooms, such as the Premier Room, are soundproofed and individually furnished and decorated. Butler service and in-room check-in are also available.

4. Dining Experience

Breakfast is served in the Eclat Lounge, often described as a good buffet with a variety of choices, including Western and local options. Guests can enjoy freshly prepared egg specialties, waffles, and toast. Some reviews specifically recommend focusing on local items like Din Tai Fung Xiao Long Bao for breakfast. The Eclat Lounge also serves Western cuisine for dinner, with steaks being a notable offering. The hotel also provides complimentary refreshments in the lobby throughout the day and hosts a complimentary happy hour with snacks for guests from 5 to 6 PM.

5. Service & Staff

The service at Hotel Eclat Taipei is consistently lauded as exceptional. Staff members are frequently described as friendly, welcoming, efficient, helpful, knowledgeable, and attentive to detail. Many guests appreciate the personal attention, with some recounting instances of staff going above and beyond, such as providing birthday surprises or assisting with reservation misunderstandings. The bilingual staff also enhances communication for international travelers.

6. Location & Accessibility

Located in the fashionable Da-an District, Hotel Eclat Taipei boasts an excellent and central location, earning a rating of 8.5 for its accessibility. It's a 5-minute drive from Taipei 101 and offers easy access to the World Trade Center and Xinyi Shopping District. Public transportation is convenient, with the Xinyi Anhe subway station a 5-minute walk away and bus stops nearby. 8. Common Complaints

While generally positive, some recurring criticisms include:

  • Lack of certain 5-star amenities: Some guests have noted the absence of a pool or a fitness center, which are often expected in a hotel claiming 5-star status.
  • Room size: A few reviews mention rooms being "tight" or "small," particularly in older feedback.
  • Maintenance issues: Isolated complaints have emerged about old or malfunctioning light switches, air conditioning, and phones in some rooms, as well as dusty corners.
  • Shower design: One specific complaint highlighted showers without doors, leading to water flooding the bathroom floor.
  • Breakfast variety: While generally good, some found the breakfast offerings to be fairly basic and not as extensive as larger hotels, with limited daily changes.
  • Inconsistent service experiences: Although most praise the staff, one guest reported a "horrible experience at check-in" due to a booking mistake and perceived rude treatment.

A perfect stay, brilliantly located steps from the MRT. The standout art in the lobby set a creative and sophisticated tone that we loved. This artistic flair was matched by the exceptionally warm and attentive staff who made us feel welcome at every turn. Our room was a spacious, tech-savvy haven with a superb shower. The vast breakfast selection and evening drink hour were excellent perks. Highl...

Our family stayed at this hotel from 30 Dec to the 3 rd of Jan 2026. We were impressed with the hotel staff, they were genuinely helpful and warm. The hotel is cozy. The rooms have all the needful and big. The breakfast decent and the hotel is very well located. Free snacks and complimentary drink! Recommended.

The hotel has that old-school five-star look — you can tell they spent a lot of money back in the day from all the outdated details, like the CD player and the Montblanc desk pen. But the service was honestly disappointing. The lounge staff acted snobbish, and the housekeeping felt careless. What really surprised me was the bed — the linens were high quality, but the bed itself wasn’t made proper...

Comfortable and well located hotel. For room service you have to go downstairs to order then back to your room- that’s inconvenient. Good Italian restaurant in B1, very busy for a Monday evening. Outside seating area needs a makeover as dirty and peeling planters and rusty chairs. Staff willing to help. Breakfast a bit limited in choice and can’t do poached eggs!

It's a weird early 00s luxury style. Clear chairs, Bang & Olufsen CD player, art in rooms, coloured feature lights, chrome, glass. I kind of love it. But definitely needs a technology refresh at least.
