Expert Review: Hotel Daniel Vienna
Hotel Daniel Vienna, a Michelin Key Selected property, consistently receives high praise for its modern aesthetic, exceptional dining, and strategic location. It's often described as a smart and stylish urban retreat offering a unique experience in Vienna.
1. Overall Rating & Sentiment
Hotel Daniel Vienna enjoys an overwhelmingly positive sentiment, with an "Excellent" rating averaging around 8.6 to 8.9 across numerous reviews. Guests frequently commend its clean, comfortable, and modern environment, contributing to a highly satisfactory stay.
2. Key Highlights
Guests particularly love the hotel's distinctive "urban attitude" and "smart luxury" concept, which is evident in its unique design elements. Highlights include quirky features like a 1952 Airstream trailer in the front yard (which is also a habitable guest room), a boat sculpture by Erwin Wurm on the roof, and available Vespas and vintage cruiser bikes for rent. The comfortable beds, excellent breakfast, friendly staff, and convenient location are also consistently lauded.
3. Room Quality
The rooms at Hotel Daniel Vienna are characterized by their modern, urban, and minimalist "pared-down" design, sometimes with an industrial touch featuring exposed concrete and workshop-like light fixtures. They are described as clean, comfortable, and spacious, featuring air-conditioning, flat-screen TVs, and complimentary Wi-Fi. Some unique room types offer hammocks for relaxation or plate-glass walls for expansive views. However, a notable design choice is the partially open bathroom concept with rainfall showers, which might present privacy challenges for some guests. Comfortable, often pillow-top, mattresses are a recurring positive mention. Noise can be a concern for rooms overlooking the main road due to inadequate window insulation.
4. Dining Experience
The on-site restaurant, The Bakery, is a major highlight, earning widespread acclaim for its "phenomenal" breakfast buffet. Guests rave about the quality and variety of the breakfast, which includes fresh waffles, custom-made omelets, a selection of cereals, pastries, and excellent coffee. The Bakery also serves international cuisine, homemade cakes, and pastries throughout the day, often utilizing herbs, vegetables, and fruits from the hotel's rooftop garden, and honey from its own beehives. The atmosphere in The Bakery is often described as hip, spacious, and laid-back.
5. Service & Staff
The staff at Hotel Daniel Vienna consistently receives positive feedback, described as friendly, helpful, professional, and easy-going. Guests appreciate their welcoming demeanor and efficiency.
6. Location & Accessibility
The hotel boasts an excellent location directly next to the Belvedere Palace and Vienna Central Station (Wien Hauptbahnhof), making it an ideal base for exploring the city. Public transport is easily accessible, with tram line D just a 2-minute walk away, providing a 10-minute ride to the famous Ringstraße boulevard and city center. The city center is also reachable on foot in about 15-20 minutes. The proximity to the train station also offers convenient connections to Vienna Airport.
7. Value & Pricing
Hotel Daniel Vienna is considered to offer "exceptional value for money" in Vienna. With an average room price around $137, it is notably more affordable than the city's average hotel room price of $185, without compromising on quality or style. While the breakfast buffet is highly recommended, it comes at an additional cost, approximately EUR 28 for adults. Parking is also available for a fee.
8. Common Complaints
While generally positive, some recurring criticisms include noise issues in rooms facing the main road (Landstraßer Gürtel) due to less-than-optimal window insulation. Guests in these rooms have reported hearing city traffic and noise from the hotel's restaurant/bar late into the night. The open shower design in some rooms can also be a point of contention for guests seeking more privacy. Additionally, the fact that breakfast is an extra charge is mentioned by some, despite its high quality.

Overall, the hotel is not bad. One clear advantage is the free parking, which was very convenient and appreciated. The hotel itself feels pleasant and well maintained. Breakfast was good and tasty, with no major complaints. The rooms are simple and rather small, but clean. The bed was comfortable, with good pillows and a good mattress, so sleeping was fine. The interior of the room is quite basi...

We had a nice 1 night stay in room '777' (the airstream caravan at the front of the hotel). The hotel reception/bar/restaurant is a buzzing place. Quick friendly checkin (make sure you get the car park access card from reception before driving the 50 metres to the car park) and we headed to the caravan.... everything was great, considering it was -5 at night outside it was still very comfortable. ...

I have choosen hotel Daniel because of the unusual room knowing that my wife will be satisfied and I was wright! I was not very happy at first moment but after some time I realize that this concept has made myself more relaxed. Restaurant "Bakery", on the other hand, was my love "at the first sight". Free garage is also a great advantage of the hotel. Finally, young man and women on the reception ...

Huge thank you to Basel A.!!! I would like to express my deepest gratitude to the hotel staff, and especially to Basel, who was our absolute lifesaver. We arrived after 1:00 AM, exhausted after a long journey, and were met with such kindness and a warm smile. Basel went above and beyond to help us settle in and quickly arranged an extra bed for our child. Even though we only stayed for 4 hours of ...

The room is nice and modern. The sink is little bit too small for my taste. The location is great it is close to almost every tourist attraction, and it is very close to the main train station. The breakfast had some great tasting items like hummus but we found some items lacking like (pancakes/waffles/crêpes). The layout of the food, glasses and plates was little bit confusing.
