Hotel Bertelli, Madonna di Campiglio: A Michelin Key Selected Alpine Retreat

Hotel Bertelli in Madonna di Campiglio, a Michelin Key selected property, consistently garners high praise for its exceptional service, gourmet dining, and prime location amidst the stunning Dolomites. Guests frequently highlight the warm hospitality and excellent facilities, making it a highly recommended choice for both winter ski holidays and summer mountain escapes.

1. Overall Rating & Sentiment

The general consensus for Hotel Bertelli is overwhelmingly positive, with guests frequently describing it as "very comfortable and relaxed" and a "fantastic resort". Review platforms show high scores, with an overall rating of 8.0 on Agoda and 8.9/10 on Trip.com, and many individual reviews scoring 9.0 or 10.0 on Booking.com, reflecting an "Exceptional" to "Fantastic" experience. The hotel is noted for providing "high quality of service and food" and being "well used by families".

2. Key Highlights

Guests consistently laud several aspects of Hotel Bertelli:

  • Service & Staff: The staff are frequently described as "excellent and friendly," "welcoming," and "wonderful helpful". Special mention is often given to the reception staff for their "excellent help" and the bar manager for crafting "the best drinks".
  • Dining: The food quality is a major highlight, often referred to as "incredible food" and "regularly terrific". The Michelin-starred restaurant, Il Gallo Cedrone, is a significant draw.
  • Spa & Wellness: The on-site Vita Nova wellness center, featuring a swimming pool, sauna, Turkish bath, and whirlpool, is a popular amenity, with guests calling the spa "fantastic" and having "everything you could want".
  • Location: The hotel boasts a "top location," being just 50 meters (164 feet) from the Pradalago ski lift and a 10-minute walk from the pedestrian area of Madonna di Campiglio. Its proximity to various gondolas and ski runs makes it ideal for skiers.
  • Comfort & Ambiance: The hotel offers a "very cosy and well presented" atmosphere, characterized by its renovated, warm, and comfortable environment with typical mountain house decor.

3. Room Quality

Hotel Bertelli features 49 comfortable rooms, many furnished with precious wood and most offering balconies. Rooms come equipped with a mini-bar, satellite TV, bathrobe, and slippers, with free Wi-Fi available throughout the property. While generally clean and comfortable, some guest feedback indicates that certain rooms, such as Room 304, have appeared "tired" and that bathrooms might need an upgrade, citing issues like a broken hairdryer repaired with duct tape or a cracked magnifying mirror. Single rooms are approximately 13-15m², double rooms 19-21m² (205 ft²), and triple rooms 24-27m².

4. Dining Experience

The dining experience at Hotel Bertelli is a significant draw, particularly its Michelin-starred restaurant, Il Gallo Cedrone. This restaurant is praised for its "tasty cuisine featuring characteristic, traditional products," a "gourmet experience set in the heart of the mountains," and a focus on local delicacies and Trentino wines. Dinner is often described as "terrific," and the option of half-board is highly recommended. A rich buffet breakfast, including a sweet selection, is served daily, with options like American, Continental, Full English/Irish, Italian, Vegan, and Vegetarian styles available. The restaurant also offers candlelit dinners once a week.

5. Service & Staff

The service at Hotel Bertelli consistently receives glowing reviews. Guests frequently commend the staff for being "very lovely friendly," "excellent and friendly," "welcoming," and "wonderful helpful". The family who has run the hotel for many years contributes to the well-managed and attentive service. Staff are noted for going above and beyond, for example, accommodating late check-out requests without extra charge.

6. Location & Accessibility

Hotel Bertelli boasts an "ideal location" in Madonna di Campiglio. It is strategically situated just 50 meters from the Pradalago ski lift, offering convenient "ski-in, ski-out" access, and is a mere 10-minute walk from the pedestrian area and town center. This proximity to ski lifts like Pradalago, 5 Laghi, and Spinale makes it an excellent base for skiing and hiking in the Brenta Dolomites, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. While the walk to town for dinner can be "steep," the closeness to uplifts offsets this. The hotel is also close to bus stops for those without a car.

7. Value & Pricing

Hotel Bertelli is generally considered to offer good value, with an 8.0 rating for value on Agoda. While specific typical price ranges are not explicitly stated, search results show rates starting from around $128 to $162 for a night, but prices can vary significantly based on dates and room type. Guests appreciate the "affordable rates without compromising on quality and comfort". During winter, the hotel may be bookable for weekly stays from Sunday to Sunday.

8. Common Complaints

While largely positive, some recurring criticisms include:

  • Room Condition: A few guests have noted that some rooms, particularly bathrooms, could benefit from an update.
  • Noise: Proximity to the road has occasionally led to "early morning traffic" noise for some guests.
  • Ski Locker Security: One review mentioned a lack of locks for the ski room lockers.
  • Balcony View: Some balconies on lower floors may have a "somewhat reduced" view due to the roofline of the dining area.

It’s our 3rd time at Hotel Bertelli, and we simply love it. The rooms are big and warm, with comfortable beds. The hotel has a lovely spa (hamam, sauna, jacuzzi and pool) to relax after a day of skiing. Also the location is superb - 1-2 min walk from the hotel ski room to the slopes, and off you go. Also I want to say special thanks to the staff - everyone is very welcoming, kind and attentive. Th...

Hotel Bertelli is in a perfect location. Just to cross the street and you're in Pradalago cabinovia 🚡. Rooms are spacious, clean and very comfortable. Service is great. Food is amazing, very tasty and very good quality. 😊

Room is very old fashioned, with awkward and inconsistent climate controls. Bed is very uncomfortable. Friendly staff. Food ranges from great (some dinners) to average (other dinners) to awful (breakfast especially).

The breakfast is good, there is an excellent smoothie making stand, I enjoyed it. I don't understand why th...
